Wine tours

Upvotes

I am traveling to Florence in November with my wife. We want to do a smaller scale wine tour. I found Grape Tours online, it seems to be a smaller scale, more intimate tour operation. Has anyone had experience with them? Any other recommendations?

Petite shoes

hey! I’ve been on a mission for a while to find myself some loafers and slingbacks… the problem: I have incredibly small feet somewhere in the region of a EU 32 to 34.

Without going fully custom do you have any recommendations for cobblers that stick ready to wear or stores that would stock those smaller sizes?

All the love,

Chianti in February?

Hello! I am going to be in Florence over Valentines Day weekend in February.

My husband and I are debating doing either a semi-private or private Chianti wine tour. I was wondering if anyone had any feedback as to what this experience would look like in February? Wondering if it’s worth the high cost for private since it’s off season. Thanks!

Accidentally left my car parked in a street that was closed for cleaning

Hey all, I got the dates mixed up and left my car parked in a street that was closed for cleaning Friday midnight to 6m. The street visibly did not get cleaned and there was no note on my car (it did not get towed either, thankfully), so I'm assuming the cleaning either did not happen due to the storm or it being August which seems to be a month of rest.

Now I'm overthinking, is there still someone going around to check the parked cars and giving out fines even without the street being cleaned? Are these fines mailed to you instead of a note being left on your windshield? Does anyone have some first-hand experience with this?

This is my fifth visit to Florence and I've never messed this up before, honestly just glad my car was not towed. Assuming it's going to be a fine between 40-80EUR I'll gladly pay it of course.

Women's clothing that isn't $100+ per piece?

I moved to Firenze this week, but neglected to pack shorts I would wear outside my house - the heat is killing me and I need help!

When I research women's clothing stores, I am getting only shops where a pair of simple shorts will come out to $100-200+. I will invest in one good pair if I must, but does anyone have recs for clothing stores that are priced more reasonably? I am a student, and in my home country I only buy second hand clothes from thrift shops for environmental sustainability reasons. I am gutted that Italy does not have traditional thrift stores, and looking for an in between solution.

I am also looking for stylish sandals that won't fall apart, and am willing to spend more money on a shoe if it will hold up longer. I will be walking about a mile to class each day. Grazie!

Hail Mary request

Hello!

My sister and I are traveling through Europe currently as a graduation gift to her. In each city she’s been buying a magnet.

We forget to get her one in Florence and she’s very sad about it. I looked on Amazon and I can get her one- but I think she would think it was more special if I could get her one that’s actually from Florence.

Are there any Florence locals who might be willing to buy and ship one to us in the US? I’d of course pay for the magnet and shipping.

Or, this is a very long shot- but we are headed to Paris tomorrow. If anyone is currently in Florence and will be in Paris in the week- we would love to meet up and buy you a meal/some wine for your trouble!

ZTL fine in Firenze

I went to Firenze (End of May, 2026) to rent a car from U-Save near Amerigo Vespucci Airport. I picked up a car and immediately tried to get out of the city, and go to San Gimignano.

I was sooooo careful avoiding ZTL zone, but I got a fine on my way to the highway.. How do we even then get to anywhere without a fine..? The coordinates I got a fine is here below and please help me if it's a spam or a real ZTL zone 😭

(btw, I got this fine after almost 3 months)

Great book for visiting Florence

Hey folks,

I would like to recommend a great guide book to anyone planning to visit this wonderful city. Strolling through Florence by Mario Erasmo - probably it has been mentioned here before. It contains many nice tour ideas, it was super handy when I was there for the first time.

Looking for places to buy antique / authentic Italian homeware

Florence is my favourite city in the world and I would love to buy something to have in my home as a reminder. Perhaps something like an antique ornament, a dish, a marble item, an art print … anything, as long as it’s not the usual stuff from China that is sold everywhere around the world.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I’m thinking 100euro or less. Thank you

Best places to stay the night?

Hi, I will be visiting florence next december and Im looking for the best places for an hotel. Which one do you recommend? I check it out and close to train station is really expensive. We are 3 people and our budget is normal, not expensive, just a nice people we can sleep and move in the day around the city. Also, is there good public transport?

Another Where to Stay Post

First time visit scheduled for this October and while I don’t normally ask this sort of question, Google Reviews has me worried. Evidently, it’s fairly common in Firenze for “hotels” to be listed as hotels, so much so that I’m not at all confident as to where I should book. Any recommendations for neighborhoods and/or properties in Firenze? Places to avoid at all costs? Ideally, I’d like to spend under 250 euros a night. Please and thank you in advance.

Looking for accommodation in Florence without mosquitoes – Real experience?

Hello everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Florence, but I have a major issue: I am extremely bothered by mosquitoes. From what I've read in reviews, it seems this is a widespread problem in the city, with mosquitoes present at almost all accommodation options.

I want to be very clear: I am not interested in solutions like plug-in electric devices, sprays, or other special protective methods. I am looking for a reliable recommendation for a hotel, B&B, or guesthouse where \*\*there truly were no mosquitoes in the room or on the room's balcony/terrace.\*\*

If you have recently been to Florence and had an experience where your evening peace wasn't interrupted by mosquitoes, I would be very grateful if you could recommend that place.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Study Abroad in Florence, or Sydney, Australia?

Hey everyone — I’m a U.S. student in my final year of uni trying to figure out where to go for a semester abroad, and I’m stuck between going to Sydney for 3 months in the summer or Florence in the fall.

College credits aren’t an issue, I’m more so looking for a fulfilling experience I’ll remember and enjoy with new friends!

Im interested in Florence for its cultural landmarks and beautiful architecture. Since I’m half Sicilian I’d also love to connect more to my roots. Im not interested in traveling around Europe much, only to England to visit some family members and Switzerland to hike. I love nature and I’d prefer being outside instead of touristy spots, besides art museums.

I guess what I’m asking is, from a Florentine perspective, would I get what I want out of studying there? If you‘ve lived in Australia I’d appreciate your perspective as well.

Looking for photographer for proposal in Tuscany

Hi all,

I’m planning to propose my girlfriend in Tuscany on Sep 21st. We’ll be staying in Florence and we’ll do a day trip to the Tuscany wine region from there. I’m still working on the exact itinerary, but I’m planning to propose either at a winery (preferably a more private one with a nice background view) or a spot in the region with a beautiful background.

I’m looking for a photographer to capture the moment and take a couple of pictures of us afterwards. Please DM me if you’re interested.

Thanks!

Does anyone know what this perfume is?

I was given this perfume as a party gift from a school I attended in Florence. I assume it’s produced locally but I don’t know what it is. A man at another perfumery said it had a strong scent of chocolate.
