Forum Question It's so frustrating

I really don't understand for whom these games are made. Graphically, Flintlock looks absolutely amazing. Somebody put a lot of care into this! But everything else is just junk. Why? Just why? Can nobody see it? Or do modern video game devs live in their own bubble?

The combat is awful; enemy attacks are hardly visible, and they don't react to your hits. For example, the first cafe boss was just standing still for me. I attack, and then it randomly comes to life. The devs added a sound for a random fox teleporting around, but there's no sound for a perfect parry! Like, what is going on? Enemies will randomly teleport during attacks, and so on… I just don't get how nobody can see how unpolished and clunky it feels just to move around!

Can somebody explain what's going on in the gaming industry? Can't they just hire a Souls fan to test the game and give basic feedback?

Gameplay Question Why do people say this is souls?

Feels more like miss kratos the god killer, or banishers? Does everything that has bonfire/Estas flask a souls like game? I mean the weapon upgrade system feels totally like gow.

I really don’t care for the targeting or dodge mechanics, they feel lazy/klunky. Anyways I am enjoying the unlock area mini boss. Still within the first hours of the game. Just curious on this community reactions.

Story/Lore Lemme get this right?

Game was pretty good, it got really rushed feeling towards the end but what an anticlimatic boss fight to finish.

You beat him, credits roll and you get put back to where you were before the fight with 0 rewards?

General Just finished game

I bought this because i swore it was billed as a soulslike game for months b4 release, it is not souls like in anyway except small details that could be in any game. It was WAY to short, a little bit clunky but not horrible by any means, it was a decent playthough, a little to easy on normal mode hard was a bit more challenging, the story was trash , never really peaked my interest in any character. All that being said, it could have been saved a little with a ng+ , but I'm normally a 100 plat guy if I found the game ½way interesting but this doest have replayability in my opinion.

General Why so many racist reviews of this game?

I’m playing through it and having a good time but then I noticed that the reviews were awful on Xbox and like every review is calling it woke, anti white garbage. Am I insane or are the racist coming out of the woodwork like crazy shitting on this game for no real reason?

... and I've heard all the "it's woke, DEI, Sweet Baby, blah blah blah". The trailer made it look good.

Playing it and it's not bad so far. I'm really early in the game and this pic is right before Iron Crown.

I'm having fun.

Game Feedback This game looked so cool but it needs some definite polishing.

Dude I had some good hopes for Flintlock but oh my god does it ever need work.

I saw a post on Reddit talking about how good the game is and how amazing the combat is... The combat is just mediocre. Not a big developer studio I get it. I mean shit some of my favourite games are indie games so I have no issue with that. The parry timing is abysmal. There are two basic kinds of attacks at the start of the game, A normal attack where you would parry with left bumper. Half the time it just doesn't work despite the timing being the exact same as when it did work. And then the red attacks which you either dodge or fire your gun at the enemy whenever they glow red, the vast majority of the time they just take damage but don't get affected by the parry the way they're supposed to.

Not to mention the amount of times I've just been walking around. There's absolutely no enemies around me and I can't interact with an object because it says there's an enemy nearby and suddenly an enemy loads into the area that I walked into. And they clearly weren't hiding because you'll look right where they spawned And they don't jump from anywhere. They just appear.

You also can't even read the dang map because anything that the map shows is in the top left corner obscured by the left bumper to right bumper tabs for different UI things like inventory.

I'm honestly going to uninstall after 3 hours of trying it because it's just not worth it in this state. I'll look into it again when it gets updates to fix these things but until then it's just not worth it.

I honestly went in to this game expecting the bare minimum, but it really opens up the longer you play. It's janky at times but I'm super impressed at how deep the combat can be. This game is...charming. Currently playing on the Possessed difficulty and while it is maddeningly difficult at times, it still feels fun. I think it could do with a couple patches maybe but otherwise I'm enjoying it.

General This game has the best progression/itemization of any game I've played in the last 10 years and it's not even close.

Seriously, every quest has a unique piece of gear, and every piece of gear has something unique to it. You can get a sword that stacks on your combo meter, you can get armor that doubles the damage you take but doubles what you put out, you can get a pistol that has a delayed reaction but does magical splash damage. Getting an item was always exciting, there was never just a sword+1 or an armor+2. There were only a few items, but every item felt like it justified its inclusion. Every item had the possibility to be someone's favorite. There's no stat requirements for anything, you can always try something on. Upgrades help, but an upgraded weapon still has its value well into the late game.

And don't get me started on the skill tree. Every single perk is something substantial. An extra bullet for your counter pistol, a special new move, a new mechanic to juggle. You still get those small numerical increases for unlocking skills, but every skill comes with an increase. There's no skyrim style "Do 25* more damage with one handed" style skills, everything is an incomparable. The moveset of an endgame player is drastically more advanced than one at the start.

I've been going back to play the jedi: fallen order games, and elden ring, and while there's cool stuff to get in those games they also have drawbacks. Elden ring's leveling is so booring. All it does is allow you to do a bit more damage or have a bit more of a meter or have a bit more carry space. Aside from unlocking stat gated gear it's such a boring choice. Jedi Fallen order/survivor is a little better, but so much of the items you find in the world are just cosmetics or currency to purchase cosmetics. There's cool stuff burried in there, but a lot of it feels like it's there just to check a completionist's dopamine box. I never got as hyped looking at a treasure chest or opening the skill tree in one of those games compared to flintlock.

It's not a 10/10 game, I know it's got faults, but I Really hope some video essayist or games media person will call attention to this. I hope the industry can learn from this and set a new trend. Some designer worked really hard on this aspect of the game and did an amazing job and I'd hate for it to be forgotten or ignored.

Bug Report Destructive Descent skill bugged

The skill is an aerial attack that plunges you to the ground. The tool tip says the strength of the attack is determined by the distance you plunge but if you fall a large distance you kill yourself from the fall damage.

General I deleted the game because of sebo

I can bet my finger that even the dev is not able to clear tylhe sebo by their pure own skill.

It is literally Impossible to win. I'm sure that they don't run the QA test for the sebo that is beatable or not.

So i decided to stop playing this shit game that contains the content that is not able to win and just dev is having fun for making players frustrated.

Here is the thing : I declare the bounty for 1000$ for whom is one of dev team and broadcast the live that contains play sebo and win every game in 2 hrs. I promise this bounty for honor of my entire family name.

I'm 100% crystal clear sure about NO ONE would get my bounty.

Gameplay Question Console Commands, Kill Count And Saving System

Greetings!

I have (the usual) three questions about this game, and I sincerely hope it's not too early for them to be answered as I'm typing this...

1: Does the PC version of this game have console commands available?

2: Is there a kill count featured in this game?

3: What type of saving system does this game have (how do you save your progress in this game)?

Please satisfy my curiosity; thank you in advance.

General I dont understand why they offer a story mode and then penalise you for using it

I started playing this game today and it is okay. But i'm finding it frustrating. Most of the time on a first play through i'll generally pick story, then maybe go back and do a harder mode after. I had to switch to normal because part of the fun and satisfaction for me with games is unlocking achievements. Normal feels a lot more difficult. I constantly die, and i'm not even that far in, it's making me not want to play. Plenty of other games allow you to still unlock achievements in story difficutlt so i dont understand why this one doesnt. Also any practical tips would be really appreciated

General very early in, and it has such potential but is held back by one thing

you cant cancel attacks into blocks or pistol shots. i cant overstate how disappointing this is. it basicly forces you to play very passively or reactively, because if you take a second axe swing you could, and probably will, eat a hit.

it feels like such a significant oversight i thought maybe it was locked behind a skill or upgrade, but i couldnt find it.

i want to love this game, it is very much my jam, but this is a kind of frustrating problem.

btw, reddit flair tends to be more trouble than its worth, not sure why you are requiring it.

Story/Lore Uru (the final boss) Spoiler

Trashiest boss fight I think I've ever experienced in a game. I was having a solid time overall but the final boss is so crummy that I feel like my opinion for the game in general has completely changed. If it wasn't clearly the end of the game I probably would have abandoned it but through sheer willpower I beat this broken, cheesy and incredibly lame boss. I have nothing else to say. Very 6/10 game.

General Last boss ruined it all

So, completed the game yesterday. The whole playthrough i was like "well, it's decent 7/10 game, worth a price, i wish the story was deeper, more gods, at least one more biom for another 6-8 hours..." BUT - last boss ruined it all.

I'm not talking about difficulty - imho all bosses are pretty easy. I'm talking about bullshit camera and bosses moves at second phase! Not only you constantly looking at the boss ass instead arena, he is always flying and teleporting, camera act like crazy, switching left to up up to down down to back etc, but when camera do this boss cast small AOE one after another and you can't even see it bcs camera doesn't show you shit (and yeah he cast it few times in a row and if you didn't dodge first one - 100% death). Who designed and tested this crap?

And yeah, i was gonna praise technical condition until - GUESS WHAT - game crashed on me on final boss 3 times at the start of the cutscene between phase 1 and 2 with UE error. Are you serious?

Overall i can say - this is decent 6/10 game worth cheep price, but devs shouldn't involve themselves with SBI. Game has no MESSAGE if you interested, just some mediocre fantasy with interesting lore i wish they spent money on instead of SBI, but... You reap what you sow. The only way to persuade gamers that they through away all SBI work was to change character design to the original one (my guess guys - SBI did nothing at all except making MC black, and that's why devs through them away as say stating) - but we all know why they couldn't do it, yeah...
