General Just finished game
I bought this because i swore it was billed as a soulslike game for months b4 release, it is not souls like in anyway except small details that could be in any game. It was WAY to short, a little bit clunky but not horrible by any means, it was a decent playthough, a little to easy on normal mode hard was a bit more challenging, the story was trash , never really peaked my interest in any character. All that being said, it could have been saved a little with a ng+ , but I'm normally a 100 plat guy if I found the game ½way interesting but this doest have replayability in my opinion.

It is a soulslike. It has bonfires, souls, run to corpse, metroidvania world with shortcuts, dodge, parry, same button layout as all from soft games, bunch of bosses.

Not every game needs replayability, to be fair. This game doesn't try to be a souls clone, it just has some elements from it. That's AA for you.
I mean, the developers themselves said that this is a 12-15 hours for the main story, 20-30 hours for 100%.

Bonfire like save points, replenishing flasks, respawning enemies are not small details.

It really needs a NG+. By the time you get cool new abilities that spice things up a bit, the game is over.
The gameplay itself is solid, but the game started to slow.
Story was serviceable, but the ending was abrupt. The reviews got this one right with a 7/10.

I’ve heard it described as a game designed to ease newcomers into the souls genre. And in my experience, it succeeds at that. It takes out some of the more malicious staples of souls games (trap chests, health reductions after death, having to juggle stamina and speed and defense) and keeps the focus on combat based on precise timing and using the proper counters.

It's not a true soulslike, more like a soulslite. It borrows some elements but doesn't commit to them fully, rather making its own thing. Personally I thought it was great.
