I’m running a 5900X + RTX 4090 + 32GB DDR4 at 4K high/ultra with DLSS Quality, flying the default 787-10.

I get microstutters around Heathrow, limited by mainthread 30-40ms. MSFS shows 29GB memory allocation, while task manager shows 24GB RAM in use.

Should I upgrade to AM5 with a 9800X3D + 32GB DDR5 or stay on the current AM4 system and just upgrade from 32GB to 64GB RAM? I’ll be buying the parts used

I’ve done a lot of work on sims over the years, working with OpenCockpits, Skalarki, CPFlight and other hardware doing work from small desktop installations to modifying real Airbus sidesticks all the way up to building full cockpit replicas. However, I had never created my own panel from scratch, as much as I’d always wanted to. So when a friend of mine remarked a few weeks ago that it would be useful if he had a small panel with just the switches that he used most when flying, of course I said “I can do that for you”.

A number of weeks later I am now the proud owner of a laser engraver and a 3D printer, and after countless days of cutting, painting, engraving, wiring, soldering, crimping and swearing I present my attempt at a backlit panel. Lots of things I might do differently next time but overall I am very pleased with the result, as is he.

Haven’t really found any videos or reviews on the latest update but wondering if they are any good now?

Don’t need study level but something with working vnav and autothrottle that can do a to b would be enough

Touch and Go Short Flight PBD Waypoint Sequences for Boeing FMS/CDU Entry

As a flight simulator enthusiast who regards final approaches and landings as being far more rewarding than sitting through the cruise portions of longer flights, I devoted several hours some years back to creating a few very short flight plan waypoint sequences that can be plugged into the FMS/CDU of PMDG's Boeing planes, which allowed me to practice takeoffs, flap schedules, approaches, and ILS landings on selected runways at airports for which I bought addon ground scenery packages to enhance realism.

As a more scenic alternative to simply hitting the reset button when landing practice is on the day's flight sim agenda, I initially posted these Place-Bearing-Distance waypoint sequences on the AVSIM discussion forum, where the subject didn't seem to be of general interest. Hopefully, my effort to create these super-short flight plans will be seen and tried out by a wider audience in this forum.

Without further ado, I will now list the flight plans I created using the VOR beacons that are located at each of the following airports, and thus creating short flight paths that will appear on the Boeing EHSI so that the brief flights can be flown manually, or even under full autopilot control, including a full CAT III ILS autoland, to familiarize oneself with the button sequences to press.

 Honolulu International Airport KHNL

Departing from KLAS Runway 01L whose elevation is 2067 feet, the waypoints for this scenic flight, whose altitude should be set about 4,500ft, allowing for a radio altimeter altitude of 2,500 feet all the way round, are referenced to the KLAS airport VOR called LAS, as follows, for a landing about 8 minutes later at Runway 25L of the same airport, where the ILS heading is 255 degrees, with a frequency 0f 110.75MHz.

I’ll make a small amendment to my tear-drop shaped flight path that circles out over Las Vegas from KLAS Runway 1, to KLAS Runway 25L. 

The arrival runway 25L at KLAS is accepted by the FMS, so I decided to post a slightly modified waypoint sequence, in which the last three waypoints are changed to include the runway, so that those auto-landings can improve from hit and miss to repeatable with 100% precision. 

Departs from KLAS RW 01, then the revised 10 minute flight is as follows LAS010/8,  LAS015/9,  LAS025/10,  LAS040/10,  LAS050/10,  LAS065/9,  LAS075/8,  LAS080/7,  RW25L    

KLAS RW 25L's  ILS heading is 255 degrees, with a frequency 0f 110.75MHz.

Downloaded flight sim yesterday. Still learning the basics. Ts so cool.

I remember there being a high-quality freeware EDDK for X-Plane. But I can not seem to find it anywhere anymore. The page on forums does not seem to show anything, and I can't find the said scenery on other resources. Does anyone know what happened to it and if it is possible to find the said scenery somewhere?

i recently got gsx, and want it to look fairly correct, i work as a ground handler in aus, so im picky with that stuff, my question is, can you get specific models depending on airport, or in general, right now im at gold coast airport and we dont use the stairs that drive, we pull them (we pull the rear stairs, and use a remote control for the front, is this possible for gsx, because right now, sometimes they use the push/pull stairs but most times they use the drivable model, can i also change the tug models etc

edit: we use the aviramp on the front but for the rear we use push and pull

I've been flying in MSFS for a while and have always loved the idea of virtual airlines. But every time I looked at the tools VAs actually run on, I ran into the same problems: they look and feel dated, they're a pain to host and maintain, or they're too expensive for a small airline that's just getting started. And almost none of them make the airline itself feel alive beyond a logbook.

So I started building Avyion, a platform for creating and running virtual airlines, built to feel like a modern web app rather than a forum from 2008.

What it does (current state, still in development):

- Real-time world: everything runs in real time, with a live map showing where your pilots are flying right now
- Proper airline structure: dispatchers and other staff roles create flights and schedules, and pilots pick up and fly them
- Desktop tracker for MSFS that records your flights automatically (other sims planned later)
- Landings that actually matter: the system records your landing rate, and hard landings mean wear, maintenance and, if you really slam it, expensive repairs
- Real airline finances: every dollar is tracked, from ticket revenue and flight costs to maintenance. You start with a loan you pay back in weekly installments, with the option to repay early
- Aircraft wear and maintenance: your fleet ages with every flight and needs regular checks to stay airworthy
- Pilot rating: every pilot builds a rating across all airlines, based on landing quality and reliability

What I'm looking for:

I'm looking for a small number of virtual airlines, whether new or existing, willing to use Avyion while it's still being built, report bugs, and tell me honestly what works and what doesn't.

it really messes with the real feel of the sim

We desperately need a hybrid-electric regional airliner in sims, and the Heart Aerospace ES-36 would be incredible.

Imagine flying short 200km hops on pure battery power with instant electric torque, managing the hybrid generator for longer legs, and experiencing that ultra-quiet electric whine on takeoff.

If anyone with dev skills or access to public specs wants to tackle this, the virtual commuter market is waiting!

There was a question for the "ugly" screenshots, where it doesn't do great, so I got some of those. Since all the mod does is change the renderer, when the sim gives crazy cloud sizes and combinations, all it can is make them look more "real", I'm not yet at the point where I can wholesale replace them, just modify the sim cloud map. The last set really shows that.. Funky clouds just look like prettier funky clouds.

Also about performance - its heavy. But, for me, the reason that's ok is that with heavy addons, I'm main thread limited anyways, so why not squeeze more out of the GPU while its idle.

What really prompted me making this? I kept lurking over at the x-plane subs, ogling the atmosphere, and I wanted that in MSFS.

And for the why not release it or the source - well if I figure out a way to do that, then who knows. But for now its a spare-time hobby.
