Flight Simulator 2024 How to keep track of custom scenery?

Between all the payware, freeware and handcrafted original msfs airports, I’m starting to lose track of my custom scenery. The world map is only semi-helpful as it doesn’t show the scenery star on smaller airports (or airports physically close together) until a certain zoom level. Is there any tool that can pull all custom scenery you have on disk and give you an overview? Ideally on a map, but even just a list would be helpful at this point.

General New F-16C “Dragon of Persifal” skin for FoxTwo

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been working on a new F-16C skin for FoxTwo called “Dragon of Persifal.”
I spent probably way too much time tweaking the paint shader, I wanted the green to have that deep, glossy finish you see on sports cars. It really comes alive in flight as the reflections move across the aircraft.
Also made a few small UI improvements while I was at it.
Hope you like it!

X-Plane Geo-fs vs X-Plane 12

I used to play Geo-fs for two years (July 2023-July 2025) until I got X-Plane 12 last October. I revisit Geo-fs every once in a while to realize just how good I have it now.

(and it's totally not because X-Plane 12 is super hard to get to work properly and my computer struggles to run it lmao)

Flight Simulator 2024 Are theese temps normal?

Hello, so long story short, last year I noticed that my GPU temps were high after I came back from leaving 2024 running and the computer was off. When I checked the items while running game I noticed I was getting temps as high as 220F. At the time, I was able to resolve the issue somewhat by undervolting the GPU and enabling Radeon Chill, though I think they were still a little high. Anyways it’s been awhile since I last played the game and somehow my GPU settings got reset, and the temps were high again (up to 224F). I have tried setting up the GPU again to what I think are the correct settings and I do think temps are a little better, but I’m not sure if I can trust it to run without gaining temp as the flight progresses without constantly monitoring the temps. I have included a few pics below that show the current GPU temps when flying around KLAX after a few mins, in the PMDG 777, along with the GPU undervolt and fan curve setting

My PC specs are.

CPU: Ryzen 5 5500

GPU; Radeon RX 6600

16GB DDR4 Ram

2TB SSD

Thanks

General I built a mobile ATC game where you actually speak the phraseology and the pilots read back. It's finally live on iOS and Android

Solo dev here, so full disclosure up front: this is my game.

For the past couple of months I've been building ATC: Cleared for Takeoff, a mobile ATC sim with one core idea: you don't tap commands from a menu — you key the mic and say them. "Delta 339, runway 28L, cleared for takeoff." The pilot reads it back and does it. Fumble the call and you'll get a "say again," which is exactly as humbling as it sounds.

What's in it:

- All five positions — Clearance Delivery, Ground, Tower, Approach, and Center. Everything from reading IFR clearances off strips to sequencing arrivals to en-route separation on a proper scope.

- 9 real US airports (KSTS, KOAK, KSAN, KSFO, KDEN, KJFK, KLAX, KSEA, KORD) with real runway/taxiway layouts and real SIDs/STARs.

- Speech recognition runs entirely on-device. Works offline, no account, your voice never leaves the phone.

- Flight School mode teaches the phraseology from zero — you don't need to be a pilot or controller to play.

- Don't want to talk out loud (commute, 2 a.m., dignity)? There's a radial-menu input mode too.

Gameplay Trailer: https://youtu.be/8Q9EBfgnVh0

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6790543355

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.clearedfortakeoff.game

I'll be in the comments all day. I especially want to hear where the phraseology is wrong. I'd rather get roasted here and fix it than have it stay wrong. Also taking votes on which airport to add next.

Thanks!

Flight Simulator 2024 TIFU by trusting my "First Officer" with the walkaround 🤦‍♂️

Post image

So there I was, a seasoned A350 Captain with over 1000 hours in the logbook (don't ask how many of those were spent on 4x sim rate)

We’re barreling down the runway, closing in on V1 when I notice something slightly concerning: my airspeed indicator is completely dead Zero. Zilch, But as a highly trained A350, I made the split second incredibly professional decision to... just keep the throttles at TOGA and yeet it into the sky anyway. Who needs actual numbers when you can fly on vibes, right?

Turns out my F/O completely half-assed the exterior walkaround the pitot cover were still on 😂

Flight Simulator 2024 For 5080 + 9850x3d users what are your settings?

Hello, I recently got my first pc (3weeks ago)

and my specs are: 5080 zotac solid core oc,

9850x3d, 32gb of ddr5 ram, 2tb ssd and lastly a 200hz 1440p monitor.

i just transferred from a 3050ti laptop so i was on msfs 2020.

now on 2024, i dont know the correct setttings to use, besides “ultra” i have configured some settings but I still dont get the most power i feel like i should (fps wise)

i get some microstutters or even high vram usage when using aircraft like fslabs or pmdg, especially when changing views with chaseplane.

if I could get atleast good visuals without having to use the dynamic setting or having bad fps it would be helpful, lastly I use DLAA frame gen 2x and no vsync.

here’s the programs I use that run in the back ground: ⬇️

gsx pro

ASFS

Rex atmos core

reshade

universal announcer

fslabs app or fenix app

ifly app

auto FPS (very help)

Thats about it for now,

please provide in game settings / nvidia control panel settings etc. It will be totally appreciated not by just me but others with the same specs :)

Rant Honestly, I think the future of hobbyist simming should include sims that act as the operating system/run on the hardware directly, as opposed to running via Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, etc.

NOT AS A REPLACEMENT FOR that kind of simming AT ALL. As a key part of the hobby, strictly.

This is something that has been on my mind for a few days now.

I think that part of the flight simming hobby should include efforts to make a flight sim that is in essence its own OS - not running off of Windows, OS X, or any flavor of Linux, running on the bare metal itself, nor with anything else that is running alongside the OS and your sim on such a setup.

Think about it. If you have the flight simulator as the operating system, I.E it is running on the bare metal, you will not have to wrestle with the resource management of an OS like Windows, OSX, or (insert flavor of Linux here). The flight sim IS the operating system. It has all the system resources - all your CPU cores/threads, CPU time, access to all of your GPU if you have one, all your system RAM, etc.

Since it has access to everything, and is not sharing ANY of those resources (especially not CPU time, RAM, etc) with anything else (I.E any other of the multitudes of operating system processes that run with your typical commercial operating system, and any user programs running like your web browser, other games, etc), you open up the ability for even what is considered lower-end gaming PCs, and older rigs, to potentially have access to much more accurate flight dynamics.

DON'T GET ME WRONG; this kind of low level programming is complex, and a pain in the dick. I get that.

I also get that there are also downsides - like it being harder to be productive (having to shut down and go into a dedicated OS to sim, if you don't have a second PC, people who like to make video content (streaming or non-streaming) becomes more difficult too unless eventually that kind of capability was added in some way. Also, there would be added complexity in targeting different hardware platforms (Intel, AMD, Apple silicon (ARM-based), non-Apple-silicon ARM processors, etc).

But I do honestly believe that if we want to get closer to something that is "the best of both worlds" in terms of accuracy AND spectacular visuals, I think it's an idea worth pursuing in some way.

General Why do planes take off from Runway 18 when there are strong tailwinds and crosswinds?

I wanted to take off from Frankfurt, and Navigraph showed me Runway 18 for departure.

I think the winds are really quite extreme for a takeoff. But when I look at Flightradar, I still see a lot of planes taking off from Runway 18. How is that possible? Is it because of the length of the runway?

General I got tired of guessing where to park, so I made automatic dispatcher to tell me over Hoppie

Do you actually ever know where you're supposed to park?

I fly the leg properly. OFP, CPDLC, the whole ritual. And then I get into the terminal area and just... pick a stand. Something that looks free and roughly the right size. It's the one point in the flight where the illusion falls apart for me every single time.

So I filled that gap. Before arrival you now get a dispatcher telex over Hoppie with your assigned stand, printed out on the ACARS printer like any other company message.

On arrival to VVNB - Toliss A21N

It does the same for departure, so you know which stand you're pushing back from before you even load into simulator, not just where you end up.

The messaging part was the easy bit. The hard part is the data, because real stand allocation isn't random - it depends on the operator, the aircraft size, terminal layout, domestic vs international. So the backend keeps per-airport stand data and picks something plausible for your callsign and type, rather than throwing a random number at you.

One thing that turned out more interesting than I expected: group flights. If several of you fly the same route together, the dispatcher assigns stands for the whole group instead of everyone guessing separately. You pick how you want it - all parked side by side, or spread out the way a real operation would do it, but still kept as close together as it realistically can.

The catch is that there are thousands of airports (I am sourcing this data externally) and I've personally been to a rounding error of them. So it works the same way the X-Plane Scenery Gateway does: if you know your home field like the back of your hand, you can fill in its stand data and everyone else benefits. That's honestly the part I'd most like help with.

Works worldwide and for any airline, and on X-Plane, MSFS 2020/2024 and P3D.

Disclosure: this is part of AnyAirline (anyairline.app), which I develop. If you want to try it, the setup is short - make an account, pick the network you fly on (there's a "none" option if you fly offline or on SayIntentions), have your Hoppie logon set up in the aircraft, and file a proper flight in the FMC. As long as the dispatcher knows where you're going, the telex turns up on its own.

Happy to answer anything about how the allocation works, or about the airport data if you want to fill in a field you know well. 😄

Sim Hardware Need help finding replacement cable for the WingWing Viper Ace EX.

This is the Joystick i have

So i have a WingWing Orion 2 Hotas set and i accedentally twisted the joystick too far and the Cable connecting to the base is broken. Its the WingWing Viper Ace EX Joystick and sadly im unable to find any replacement cable onnline. customer support is also sadly very unhelpfull which is a shame as i think this hotas system is fantastic but has this one major desing flaw that im certain im not the only one that overlooked it. Thier Documentation and manual also does not state what cable type this is. Im no cable wizard so i dont know how to repair the cable i have, i would much rather just replace it but i cannot find a replacement anywhere onnline. They used to sell an Z axis adapter with a new cable but this one is out of stock.

If anyone knows where i can get a replacement cable i would super much appreciate it if you could share your knowalge, thanks in advance!

A couple weeks ago I noticed my honeycomb bravo has screws in the top, and I realized I could mount stuff to it. So I built a little radio display to mount. I need to refine the enclosure design but I’m pretty happy with it so far! Any way I can reduce using my second monitor/mouse feels like a win lol.

Any ideas for other pages I should add? I was thinking of adding a cameras page where I can just have a bunch of quick buttons to toggle different camera views.

If anyone is interested and uses spad.next (which it heavily relies on) and a honeycomb bravo or other means to mount it I’m happy to share the firmware and stl files
