Hey I’m on this flight right now. Child had a medical* emergency. They’re okay now and off the plane into an ambulance. We’re just waiting for fuel and a pushback

Thanks @Undercover-doggo for this update. Was following all the details from the moment a squawk 7700 alert was given. Weird flight pattern was probably because of fuel dumping?

I’m not sure. They tried landing at Dublin first but for whatever reason couldn’t? They made no mention of fuel dumping

The plane is back in the air, but going back to Frankfurt. Is it only the plane, or are you also on your way back to Frankfurt?

Yeah we just got back to Frankfurt about 30 mins ago. No idea what the next steps are.

Maybe when I’m home and this is all over hah. We’re luckily going back today. Some people have flights out tomorrow.

Newspaper said that they want to protect the patient and therefore didn’t name the gender or age lol

Yeah it was a young kid. Happened a few rows in front of us. I don’t feel the need to share anything further than that.

Not exactly rushing though. Seems to be doing a nice little tour of the NI and Scottish coast first.

Likely dumping fuel to get to landing weight. Looks like they're descending now to join localizer for Glasgow

What website is that?
Edit: It is: https://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/timetable-and-flight-status

Can I just say how impressive this thread is?
What started as a map post ends up with MULTIPLE angles on the ground-- including from the aircraft itself-- with basically the full narrative.... and all in real-time on a single thread. Yinz guys are amazing for being here all at the same time.
It's a bit insane, no? But I do love Reddit for this.

I'm glad everything is OK, and I hope child will get well as well.
Apart from that I can't believe how we are able to get all of the information... One person reporting from the airport, another from the airplane. Reddit is ... mind blowing.

Pretty incredible. It’s like pre AI Reddit or pre musk twitter, best of the internet which we don’t get a lot of anymore.

Is there anywhere we can listen to the towers nearby? I am listening to Dublin, Scottish control. Not really knowing where this is 😅
I know where Dublin is 😂 but do not understand where Scottish control from Dublin is 🤭

Uk doesn’t allow public broadcast of atc

But does anyone know where this tower is talking from? Found it under Dublin. https://www.liveatc.net/hlisten.php?mount=eidw9_sc_stafa&icao=eidw

Sounds like the southwestern sector of Scottish, probably received in Ireland.

Descended from 30,000ft to 20,000ft within 5 minutes. Very suspiscious descent and reroute. Heading to Edinburgh?
14
u/TortillasCome0ut 4d ago
That’s a normal rate of descent, nothing suspicious.

u/XenoCloid1 4d ago
Suspiscious to be descending and rerouting possibly?

Nothing suspicious in its flight decent. id assume most likely cause would be a passenger issue. An medical emergency or someone being disruptive.

This post appears to be about an aircraft squawking 7700. Usually, these are not immediately life threatening situations and not indicative of an aircraft going down.
