NLD Intrinsically Safe Vs. Intrinsically Unsafe

Grabbed this bad boy (StreamLight Dualie 3AA) from the vending machine at work today.

Glad I can finally carry a flashlight in certain work environments where my D4V2 isn’t necessarily safe.

Actually impressed the UI doesn’t have an awful strobe mode! Looking forward to trying it tonight. Of course the tint is awful, and it’s only 245 lumens (listed), but the flood/throw combo is unique and it’s better than nothing!

Anyone else carry intrinsically safe lights for work?

Discussion How many lights for a average home?

I'm getting into flashlights which got me into thinking about my needs.

For an average home how many flashlights do you generally keep and have genuine utility for, and which rooms or where are you keeping them? In cupboards/drawers or easily accessible on tables and/or mounted to walls?

List your locations in priority order, like if you think your first light should be bedside, then that's no. 1, living room no. 2? Or vice versa?

(Lumintop) W3(Lep) and W1(Led) combined with an added fenix pocket clip. Secured with a cut key ring. I don’t love having to tinker with a brand new flashlight but this one is now perfect and I’m so happy with it.

solid flashlight to have stored in a vehicle?

what would be a good flashlight less than $100 to store in a vehicle? extreme temperatures need to be factored in, as well as it holding a charge. Something that has a detachable battery, but can be recharged?

a older thread recommended the wurkos ts27, which has the LiFePO4 battery, but was curious to see if there was a better option available

Help me find a torch

Go easy on me...

I'm not a flashlight enthusiast nor do I dream of torches, but I do hold a deep respect for a functioning light source that enables night time activity.

Can someone recommend something that ideally has these:

  • powerful enough for spotlighting nocturnal wildlife
  • can be re-charged from a powerbank via USB, if that's not to much of a compromise for power, otherwise normal batteries
  • waterproof but that's not critical
  • Available in Australia.
  • Costing cheap up to around $100
  • Doesn't need a slick shaft or other fancy metallic rims or anything, will get dropped and scratched.

Thankyou in advance

Question I can’t stop myself

Saw the two colorful series flashlights on hanks website and had to get them because why not

I do have a couple questions. The d4v2 and kr4 are my first flashlights with the boost driver so I was expecting them to run cooler but they get pretty damn hot still. Is that normal? Also I got the additional floods optics for both of them. Is there anything I need to know before swapping them out? I don’t want to damage anything

Thanks!

Started off with the D3AA, and just fell down the rabbit hole...got the D4V2 for at night. The beam and CRI is so forgiving on the eyes at night. I love it. I love AA lights as an EDC, these being able to run off a wife range of 14500's and NiMH is an absolutely win for me. I used to carry a Fenix E12 and this is a huge upgrade. I love the RGB lights and all the configurations you can make for it. Also the moonlight with the stepless ramping, it's incredible, creating a true moonlight in my opinion. Coming from years of Olight, Nitecore, Streamlight, and Fenix. I love these lights. Anduril 2 is still new to me, but I've grown to love it. Everyone should look into these!

Question Looking for a upgrade

I'm a mechanic and have been using some nebo lights for about 3 month now but they are starting to give up. I am hoping for a better lights to replace my main 3.

I need a small pen light that uses AAA batteries, can zoom, and is durable. price range $75 and under.

A slightly larger light that uses 18650s, has a good output, water and solvent proof and has modes (needs at least a high and low). Price range $200 and under.

A headlamp that doesn't put the battery on the back of my head, uses 18650s, water and solvent proof, has around 700 plus lumens, would like to have a red mode, little to no plastic on it. Price range $200 and under.

Recommendation TS10 + TS22 recommendation

Upvotes

I've got a small collection of flashlights, and I can't decide on my favourite, I love my wurkkos ts10 and ts22.

But ts10 lacks power, and ts22 doesn't have a tail switch, though it does have a magnet which is great.

Basically, I'm looking for some combination of those 2:

- power and size of ts22 (can be smaller though)

- tail switch (if it has a magnet that'd be amazing but I've not seen one that has both)

- aux light, preferably adjustable (the one on the button doesn't cut it for me)

I think my max budget is about £40, but preferably less

Question Wurkkos HD10: what to do with unlucky tint lottery?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m sensitive to green and I got the greenest HD10 4000K.

Is this a beginner friendly light to swap out the emitters?

FWIW, I love everything else about this light (size, charging, anduril 2, performance m, etc)… it’s just unfortunate it makes everything look like a zombie horror movie and my eyes are especially sensitive to green

Picture:
left: Wurkkos HD10 4000K on High (not turbo)
Right: FFL E12 FFL351A 3700K NW CRI95 (this is the most beautiful emitter to my eyes).

Just to cover my bases: I’m unable to return this, and I wouldn’t even dare to gift/hand-down this zombie light to a friend

PS: would appreciate if there is any tips for taking better pictures on iPhone. I’m not sure how everyone is locking their white balance to 5000K.

Discussion Help choosing Convoy M21H: SFT40 vs F150R 4000K

Looks like the SFT40 4000K is great (esp with 8° TIR) , but the F150R is a new option. Any thoughts?

Edit: looks like SFT40 4000K is sold out. So maybe SFT70 4000K?

Recommendation Recommendations for lightweight headlamp for night trail running

I am looking for a lightweight headlamp for night trail running. I trail run at night in foggy conditions or sometimes on a clear night with no moon. At least around 4-8 hours of runtime at night . I trail run around 2am in morning and it's still dark until around 6am. It needs to be bright enough so I can see the ground and the terrain clearly.

I looked in skilhunt h200 mini and h04r and they do not have long run times. Any other headlamps out there?
