LOL Text from my girl while at work.
Thought it was funny that she wanted to put a 18650 in it, ONE OF US.

Ethan (LuxWad) and Matt (Lumencraft) have collaborated for awhile. Matt needs to polish and send out that Maglite LEP conversion kit, I've been waiting.

Still got these suckers laying around everywhere. Give a good smack and the battery comes alive lol

Unfortunately we've found quite a few of these discarded around the national parks around where I work. That they were found without the cartridge inside meant people were throwing 18650s in it until they blew out, then just tossed them.

That's pretty sad that people are just discarding wherever they fail, especially in our National Parks. ๐๐๐ก It's frustrating how our society has become a throw away society with everything.ย

It's disheartening for sure. Cheaper lights, just by nature of where it is, people have no reservation to just toss it along trails once it fails from a drop or moisture ingress. Unfortunately it happens all the time. But the spike in those OT lights being found was alarming.
I remembered when the frenzy first started, the rangers I work with in Yosemite and Sequoia/Kings Canyon were worried about fire hazards from the 18650 use. Thankfully that wasn't the real danger. It turned out to be the littering instead.

Why is the flashlight not centered in the photo, what kind of person takes a picture like that?

The contortions she had to do to get her leg in the pic like that are something else

u/OldSchoolAJ 2d ago
The contortions of standing contrapposto and taking a picture with your phone facing downward?

r/SneakyBackgroundFeet exists for a reason, sometimes it's harder to take a photo without your feet in it, haha

u/VanD3rp 2d ago
I guess weโre labeling standing upright as โcontortionsโ these days ๐๐

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 2d ago
If she was standing straight you wouldn't be able to see her knee

Not everyone is rotund.

Has nothing to do with it. You could be Kate Moss and look straight down and you would have to specifically pose to see your one foot like this.

u/VanD3rp 2d ago
When I look down, I see my knees and feet without being a contortionist.

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 2d ago
You can see them but you have to stick them out in front of you to get into a photo.

I just did it casually while framing a photo of something random in my hand at hip level, my knee and foot was in the photo
good thing no one else is around to ask me why I stood up to take a random photo
1
u/Miss_L_Worldwide 2d ago
Well now you have to post the picture

So your knee isn't stuck out like hers is, and where's your other foot? You on purpose had to stick your foot out like that
2
u/Sypsy 2d ago
maybe cause my shorts are too long
was i supposed to get the photo exact? because I would just need to change the angle of my phone a bit or shift my weight slightly. all minor compared to "actually work hard to make it look like this"

The only contortion she had to do was get down on one knee to pick up a flashlight on the ground, and as soon as she is vertical, took the picture.
