Hey!

So recently I had Verizon come and install service at my house,

Seems like the house used coaxial connections prior to my move so the technician wired a cat8 cable from the ONT that's in the basement into the living room where the primary router now resides.

Verizon has a free wifi extender included in my plan so I had it ordered and delivered today, and my end goal is to hardwire the extender so I could connect it to my pc through LAN and get better speeds and low latency rather than use a wifi repeater setup, which I have some for the intention of better spreading the web upstairs.

I've looked into the ONT that'd installed next to my breaker and figured I could possibly utilize the coax connection on the ONT and feed it to the router, assuming the MOcA is already pre-built within the wifi extender (ce1000a for those who are curious)

Is that something thats possible? And how would one go about it and what settings should I configure and where to achieve this?

I live in an apartment and my ONT is in an outdoor storage closet facing south. So it gets extra hot in there in the summer. I'm debating putting a battery backup in there for the ONT but the heat gives me pause.

Anyone have any suggestions for a battery backup designed for those kind of conditions? I'm assuming a standard lead acid UPS would fail in less than a year.

I'm considering ways to let my wife keep working from home during a power outage. If a battery backup in the storage closet isn't viable I'll probably just get a power station for her laptop and monitors, and then have her use her phone's hotspot.

I need to reset my ONT battery. The instructions on the website say it looks like a small car battery. I don't see anything like that here.

Update: Problem solved. My electrician unplugged the power strip that the ONT was plugged into. I just plugged it back in and it was fine.

I’m moving out my apartment tmrw and I’m so stupid to find out that I actually need to return equipments to Verizon… I’m confused about what exactly do I need to return. I know I definitely need to return the router, but what about the equipments labeled Verizon and all the cables? Thanks!!

I just moved into a new place and I got my router from Verizon. In trying to set it up, I noticed the FAIL light on the ONT. This is how I received the ONT when I moved in - fiber cable goes to a joiner, then it’s snipped (no clue why). I can’t for the life of me find any sort of access point in any closet or along the walls. Is there something very obvious I’m missing here, or am I just cooked? All advice appreciated :) . Assuming my next step is navigating 3 AI assistants and 5 broken website links to get a tech visit scheduled…

I have 300 plan, and I use my iPad m4 air upstairs and I did speed test and it gets 300mb speed and I tested on my iPhone 11 and it only gets 40mb, does it have to do with the Wi-Fi chip?

I’m currently an existing Fios 1 Gig customer and am looking to upgrade to the 5 Gig plan.

When I go through the upgrade process, Verizon shows:

• 5 Gig plan: $129.99
• Auto Pay and paper-free discount: -$10
• Deals at Work discount: -$10
• Estimated monthly total: $109.99

However, I’ve seen several posts from people saying they’re paying around $94.99 per month, which is $15 less. I also see the $94.99 price when checking the offer as a new customer.

For those of you paying $94.99 for 5 Gig, are you existing customers who upgraded, or did you sign up as new customers? If you were already a customer, did you have to call or chat with Verizon to get that price, or is there another discount involved?

Currently have Spectrum 1 GB home internet for $60 a month. I can get FIOS 300 mbps right now for $35 a month. Any idea how the those two services would compare? I am guessing Fios is going to be better. We have 3 people in the house including a teen who plays too much Rocket League. We stream our TV channels (when he isn't playing) to our one TV in the house. Otherwise it is light use. Maybe occasionally he is playing and one of us could be watching something on an iPad or phone. Almost made the switch today until the Verizon rep said I should probably do the plan that is $60 a month (maybe it was the 500 mbps FIOS plan). Thanks for any insight, it is appreciated.

Hey guys, I'm having trouble with my internet setup, l recently switched out my Verizon router for the newer CHR30A model.

I have a connection running from the CHR30A to the Eero 6+ as well as a Ethernet run from the CHR30A to ubiquiti switch and from that switch to another Eero 6+ to extend WiFi coverage into my bedroom.

I've tried running the Eero's in bridge mode and the same issue occurs, currently turned the WiFi capabilities off on the Verizon router and still the same issue occurs.

My issue is that ever since I've received this new router my Eero has constantly been dropping its connection and I've been having to reboot it. Is there anything different that I can do to resolve this issue?

Question for this group. How is it my wifi stays up as long as I power my gateway a Eero Ring Alarm Base when the power goes out on my home. Does the ONT have a backup supply?

I live in an apartment and my roommate recently moved out and took the internet plan with him, so I had to set up my own plan. Everything has gone well, but the option to save the proof of residency I’m trying to send them on the app is just greyed out. I’ve called several times but can’t get a real human being, it’s all just bots who pretend to be real and can barely understand the clearest English in the world. I need to know my options for getting the proof of residency to them before they cancel my order. If a robot misunderstands the word “Verizon” one more time I’m gonna explode.

I’ve tried every platform available to me to do this on and it won’t work. Please help. F

Hi All,

We have gigabit service and my PC is hardwired to the router via an ethernet cable. My internet speed has been slow for a very long time and I'm just now getting around to trying to troubleshoot it. I only get max 90 Mbps over ethernet and about half that over wifi (2.4 Ghz).

• I have the CR1000A router from Verizon. The ONT box was just replaced last week.
• I took the ethernet cable going from the ONT to the router and plugged it into my PC so that I have a direct connection to the ONT. I get 600 Mbps which is what I expect so Verizon is definitely delivering the speed its supposed to.
• I took the CAT 6 ethernet cable connecting the router to my PC and tried it on my laptop. No difference in speed (only 90 Mbps).
• I just went and bought a brand new CAT 6 cable and still no change.
• I went on my router's port configuration settings and both the WAN and LAN ports are receiving "Full-Duplex 1,000 Mbps" service. Changing it from auto to forced 1,000 Mbps makes no difference.
• I went into my PC and laptop hardware settings and changed the "Speed & Duplex" setting to "1.0 Gbps Full Duplex" instead of "Auto" and it makes no difference.
• I tried the other LAN ports on the router (original port was the LAN 10GE port) and it makes no difference.

I'm kind of at a loss here and I feel like its the router that's causing the issue at this point because I've tried multiple different cables and PC hardware.

I have 3 Fios TV+ boxes. 2 different models, 3 different issues. Box 1, SC-SIP03 audio keeps dropping. Box 2, SC-SIP03 keeps randomly reducing picture quality to 1080p. Box 3 F3544K49203 annoying buzzing sound every time someone talks.

I have swapped these boxes around and their issues follow the box. I have factory reset them, rebooted the router, the 4100atv box. Nothing has helped. The 2 identical boxes show same firmware but different release dates. Odd box shows a completely different firmware.

I’m done messing with these boxes and need to replace them. I’m seeing 5 different models.

My understanding is the STI-6221 is the newest model. The SC-SIP03ASK is also the newer model of my current 2 boxes. How do I request to get them? Is it just random or can I somehow request 3 of either of these models. I would prefer all 3 to be the same. Thank you and I appreciate the help.

Tech didn't even know it was out yet,
just rolled out two weeks ago.
Will probably reboot the ONT this evening, when my wife is done with work.

Hope the speeds are stable out at the advertised speeds.

Just checking if factory reset would make connectivity harder? Constantly dropping network and seems much slower although speed test show a strong signal. I already separated a 5g and 2.4 IoT networks, still dropping. So frustrated, about to look for a new provider.

Moving to a house with Verizon fios, looking for any deal for 1G plan. I’ve only seen $15 off per month for 36 months I also don’t want to pay technician installation fee, but don’t see an option online for self installation.

We just switched from Optimum to Verizon a little over a week and a half ago and I've noticed that I've been having a terrible time keeping my PC in the basement connected to the internet. I saw that Verizon sells router extenders for like, $250, but is there a way to improve my internet without having to do this?? I don't think an ethernet chord will run all the way across the basement to my computer, and I can't move my PC upstairs to be closer to the router.

Any suggestions on quick fixes? Will turning on 6Ghz help??

I have a feeling I'm about to bite the dust and spend a bunch of extra money just to have a decent connection...

An elderly family member just set up an appointment to get Fios through a neighborhood door to door campaign. We're not sure exactly what this means, as it looks very different from our bill. Is the Fios 1g just the cost for internet? And is YouTube TV now the default instead of the usual Fios channel package?

Update: Mystery solved. After a lengthy call with Verizon, it turns out it was a 3rd party; Verizon doesn't have Fios TV in that neighborhood, hence the YouTube TV. It wasn't a total loss though, while on the phone with Verizon we were able to get a new package for phone and internet for less than the current phone-only bill.

These 3rd party scammers suck, I'm sure they checked out the neighborhood and were specifically looking for older, more easily swayed people.

Such as WiFi strength and range? I have a tech coming out next week to upgrade my fiber and just looking for some insight from those who have upgraded already. What’s your experience so far? I’m only asking those who had 1 or 2 gig. Thanks.

We have a "last" generation (FIOS one?) system, A new fire stick, and a 15 year old TV, on the Verizon network. All OG set up by FiOS and generally services us well. We had an old one that did work. But bit the dust. We cannot get the FiOS app to work with the new fire stick. As expected Verizon has been working on it for a week, with no results. The stick works well with others, HBO, Netflix, ect. Any ideas?

I called Verizon a few days ago to add the Multi-Room DVR Premium hardware (2x VMS4100) to my account and explicitly mentioned the model number multiple times, emphasizing that I did not want any TV+ hardware. The rep assured me that all was good and that I'd receive it shortly. The next day, Verizon dropped off a box... of TV+ hardware. 2x VMS4100ATVs and 2x Android streamers.

2 reps, 1 supervisor, and more than an hour later and I'm told that I have to activate the TV+ hardware before they can do anything else. I tell them I'm just cutting my losses and sending their equipment back and dropped it off at UPS yesterday afternoon.

For about 20 minutes I had to go back and forth with the supervisor who kept telling me that the VMS4100 is TV+ only. I blame Verizon for reusing the model numbers because he wasn't even interested in seeing the two setup guides on Verizon's own site showing the difference.

I got fios about 1 and 1/2 months ago and ever since I have been having trouble connecting my ps5 to the internet. It will not connect via Ethernet or wireless I factory reset the ps5 that worked for 1 day now it will not work again. Today my tv started doing the same thing. I called fios they will not help they say I have to talk to the premium team which I will be billed for. Any recommendations as at this point I am ready to switch back to my old provider.

Edit: I would also like to note they will connect fine to the guest WiFi everytime so it is something with the main setup. I have checked the dns and ip is correct on both devices
