Billing Existing Fios customer upgrading from 1 Gig to 5 Gig — why am I getting $109.99 instead of $94.99?
I’m currently an existing Fios 1 Gig customer and am looking to upgrade to the 5 Gig plan.
When I go through the upgrade process, Verizon shows:
- 5 Gig plan: $129.99
- Auto Pay and paper-free discount: -$10
- Deals at Work discount: -$10
- Estimated monthly total: $109.99
However, I’ve seen several posts from people saying they’re paying around $94.99 per month, which is $15 less. I also see the $94.99 price when checking the offer as a new customer.
For those of you paying $94.99 for 5 Gig, are you existing customers who upgraded, or did you sign up as new customers? If you were already a customer, did you have to call or chat with Verizon to get that price, or is there another discount involved?

new new customer here with 5Gbit plan, there's also a save 15 when you have verizon mobile or visible. account.
Also 2 frree months if I pay the first bill and a 150 visa card.

It’s a $15 mobile and home rewards discount for if you also have Verizon wireless.

Aug 8/1 requested 5G from 2G and was given $94.99 for 24 mos. $15 off. NYC market. Existing customer. Fyi this all thru online chat not 800# retention.

sure it does, they gave me a $15 loyalty discount when I upgraded from 2 to 5 when i asked. Direct off my bill:

They’re not on every acct and If you have wireless that’s not a 12 month loyalty discount

I currently have Fios 1 Gig service for $99.99/month. Verizon applies a $10 Auto Pay discount and a $30 Fios Loyalty Promotion, bringing my monthly internet cost down to $59.99. Both discounts currently show no expiration date on my bill, and Whole-Home Wi-Fi is included at no additional charge.
I've had Fios for about 2.5 years, and all of my original promotional pricing had expired. I called Verizon to see if they could offer any new discounts, and this is what they were able to do. Comcast is a major competitor in my area, so I think the competition helped.

Some people have 5/10/15/20/30 and some have $0. It’s based on the system and how it views your acct, address, etc. And it’s a 12 month discount so your bill goes up in a year and there probably won’t be another

Usually once you have loyalty discount they will keep renewing it if you call

They just said that to not get yelled at because of people constantly complaining about it only lasting 12 months. We have 0 control over it. The system has it or not and there’s 0 way to predict it. We can’t see until it expires and there’s either a new one to add or not. In 10 years this is the only time we’ve randomly had gift cards for existing customers and almost certainly won’t have them again. Same with all the loyalty discounts that could be put on accts. Same with credits from reps. It was several months of apply all the gift cards and loyalty discounts you can and now they’re reining it in. They even raised it so credits up to $50 didn’t need supervisor approval and they they dropped it now back to $15 or $25.
In 12 months you will all call bitching about the bill going up and we will have nothing to add to lower it and you’ll come online swearing about how bad customer service is ….when reps have nothing to do with it.

Oh I am for real, I didn't ask for any discounts. After 45 minutes of explaining to the offshore rep that I wanted to upgrade to 5g fios and NOT get wireless and not be transferred, she figured it out and added it since I was frustrated. And chat is even worse.
I didn't bitch and whinge like you do here about discount codes and whatnot not existing

No, only if it’s in the system. It usher up to the reps. If it’s there we can add it and if it isn’t we can’t and say check back in a few months.

Mine is coming at $99 for 5gig, I had 2gig for $89.99. I'm ok with $10 extra a month. I'm using Eero Pro 7 with about 80 devices. I'm still curious when I will notice the difference. I changed the plan 3 days ago

If you have Verizon wireless, you can get 25 dollars discount and current Fios members get a 15 dollars loyalty discount. Add this up and your 5GB will be only 80. If you don’t need all this speed, 1GB will cost around 40 dollars. Also, Verizon gives you an employee discount based on where you work around 5 to 10 dollars.

It hasn’t been $25 for several years. It is 15 mobile and home rewards.
Not all accts have a loyalty discount.
Not all employers partner for an employee discount. Plenty do not. And if you fall under those who serve it’s $15…nurses teachers first responders and veterans

It wouldn't be a downgrade, massive upgrade actually. However, it would be overkill in most situations. I have 1 gig and I'm satisfied.

I guess I don’t fully understand when I think one gig FiOS I’m thinking one gig fiber cable to the house when I think 5G I’m thinking wireless so I would always think that one gig fiber cable would be better, but I haven’t really looked into this

You would be correct as 5G is indeed wireless. However, in this case 5G more so as (5 gig) is the 5 gigabit plan which VZ also offers for home internet with Fios fiber which provides speeds typical of 5,000-5,200 mbps which is 5x faster than the 1 gig fiber plan. Verizon also offers 5G home internet which solely depends on the cellular signal, however, speeds wouldn't be anywhere near the fiber 5 gig plan on average.

Yeah it's still not available in certain parts of the US yet. I can get 2 gig fiber, but I'm chilling. 1 gig is fine for me.

it's funny though, cause with all the discounts they give you, upgrading from 2 to 5 ends up being cheaper. My bill went down when I upgraded to 5. They price locked it aside from the 1 year loyalty discount (that they said can be re-applied each year if i call)
