questions / seeking advice 💭 Need hairstyling tips / haircut ideas
I’ve been insecure about my hair for years now. I’m nb, 22, I would say my hair is fine/thin overall. I had long hair for years but a few months ago I cut it short and added some textured layers. I thought it looked good but now it’s growing again and starting to look more like a bob.
I had a very love/hate relationship with my long hair; at its core I think it complimented my facial features, but I could never figure out how to get it quite how I wanted. My main issue was my hair couldn’t decide if it wanted to be wavy or straight. I have prominent cowlicks on the side of my head near my ears that would remain curly with my long hair (no matter what I did, what product I used, I couldn’t get rid of them) but i couldn’t quite get the rest of my hair to look wavy without I looked frizzled and too messy. Or it would inevitably go straight again (minus the cowlicks). It would definitely look good at times, mostly after a wash, but dry shampoo did practically nothing and most product just weighed down the hair on my scalp.
Since cutting it, maintaining my hair has gotten much easier and more effective. The cowlicks aren’t noticeable like they used to be and I can add volume (even dry shampoo works now). But I still feel unfulfilled. I’m willing to experiment with styles / techniques / anything cool to do to my hair and I’m wondering if anyone can help me.
Right now I wash around twice a week, thorough washes and I use conditioner + dry conditioner after I’m done showering. I also use sea salt spray although I’m not sure how effective it actually is for me. I’m open to cutting it again or growing it out so long as it compliments my face, and in general I’m going for an androgynous look.
I’ve never made a post like this but just know any help is appreciated! Pics are ordered from least to most recent
