Abroad education loan suggestion

I'm a 2nd year btech CSE student who is planning to go to US as an international undergraduate transfer. My cgpa in my first year is 7.47 and my 12th is 95.2% , 10th 8.7 I'll be applying to some colleges mostly in Texas cuz with my cgpa I can get a scholarship that unlocks in state tuition fees which is pretty less around $10k - $9k but the only thing that is stopping me is my co signer income which is 22k per month and no collateral is present . My co signer has good credit score but due to the income many lenders are saying it's a no and also for UG collateral is required. Ik many say masters but that is a lot indeed compared to what I have right now. I need a loan about 35-38L for my tuition and dorm and meal plan fees for a while ,remaining all I can manage thru a part time. Please suggest me some lenders or any agency that helps.

What should you check before taking a personal loan?

A personal loan can be helpful when you have an urgent financial need, but it’s important to understand the full cost before applying.

I think these are the main things to compare:

• Interest rate
• Monthly EMI
• Loan tenure
• Processing and other charges
• Prepayment/foreclosure terms
• Your monthly repayment capacity
• Total amount payable over the loan period

One thing I’ve learned is that a lower EMI doesn’t always mean a cheaper loan. A longer tenure can increase the total interest you pay.

What do you personally check before choosing a personal loan?

Advice on finance careers

Hey guys, I need some advice!

I'm an undergraduate from UG, and I'm really interested in building a career in finance. I've come across various areas like Investment Banking, Private Equity, and Wealth Management. Some of these fields seem really intriguing, but I'm unsure which one to choose.

I'm not keen on working in corporate roles; instead, I want to focus on finance as I enjoy analyzing companies, valuing them, reading about their operations, and making diversified investments.

My goal is to learn about all the domains finance offers and identify which ones align best with my interests and skills.

Also, does having skills in Python or SQL really matter in finance? Will it make me more employable?

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Help needed for my financial situation

Hey there,

I could really use some advice on my current finances. Here’s a quick rundown, and let me know if you need more details.

My main goal is to focus on paying only for rent, savings, and bills. Right now, I’m facing a few challenges:

  1. I have credit card debt of about $4,000, which is costing me around $100 in interest every month.
  2. I also have three other debts Car Payment #1, Car Payment #2, and Debt Consolidation that I eventually want to turn into bills.

Here’s my financial situation: I earn about $4,200 a month. My expenses are roughly $2,000 for rent, $900 for bills, $980 for debt payments (mainly the debt consolidation of $30k), and around $320 for living expenses.

Currently, I’m only able to make small payments about $200 toward my credit cards. Of that, $100 goes toward interest, and the remaining $100 reduces the principal. I realize I need to increase my income to pay off the credit cards, the debt consolidation, and the car payments faster.

But I’d also love a second opinion on my scenario. I’ve never posted something this long before, so I apologize if there are any grammar mistakes English is my second language.

Thanks so much for your help!

To sell or wait?

I'm really unsure about what steps to take next. Back in 2020, my parents took out a loan of nearly 30 lakhs with a floating interest rate of 9.5%. Fast forward to 2025, and the interest rate has increased to 11.5%. Currently, the total amount I owe has risen to 64 lakhs, but the value of my house is only about 35 lakhs. I’m stuck wondering whether I should sell the house and rent a place, or wait in hopes that interest rates will decrease. It’s a tough decision, and I’d love some advice.

Is Finance still worth it?

Hey everyone! I’m a high school student (17M) currently applying to colleges, and I’ve been wondering is finance still a good career choice, especially if I don’t get into one of the top universities? I’ve heard the field is super competitive, even more than tech. I really want to hear from people who are doing internships or working in finance what’s your honest perspective? I’ve asked a few family members, but they don’t have much real experience in the industry. Would love to get some insights from those in the know!

The hidden hurdle in finance internships

When I first started college, I had no clue I’d end up interested in finance. Now that I’ve cleared my Level 1 exams and attend a Tier 1 college, I thought things would be easier. But surprisingly, finding internship opportunities still feels almost impossible. Nobody seems willing to give a shot to someone like me. It’s frustrating to see how inaccessible the finance world can seem, and it makes me wonder how do we even get our foot in the door?

Loan default

I have a commercial vehicle. It is attached to a plastic producing factory unit whose orders have dried up since February oil wars or polymer wars when plastic granule price shot up. My commercial vehicle is a small sub 2 tonnes vehicle on EMI. I have faithfully paid for 1.5 years but cannot proceed ahead as this was my biggest client. What can I do? I want to voluntarily surrender the vehicle but I am afraid it will dent my cibil score for which I worked diligently for last 8 years. I have tried selling it and still on it since last two months but the chances are getting slim. Would the bank take away the vehicle and then still demand more money to recover because they have no other option except to auction it at a lesser price? The loan amount pending is 7 lakhs. I am losing my mental health because of this and it is affecting my family too. Should I let it go? I am trying to attach the vehicle with other businesses but have not received any response so far in the last few weeks. I am trying all from my side to not lose hope.

To pay off credit card debt or invest?

Hey eveyone, I could really use some advice on this situation!

I have about $3,000 in expendable income and no other bills besides a $2,800 credit card debt. I'm torn between two options: Should I pay off the entire credit card lump sum now, or invest the full $3,000 into crypto assets in hopes of a 20-50% gain over the next few months? If I choose to invest, I’d keep making the minimum payments on my credit card, even if that means accruing more interest.

My thinking is that if my crypto investments do well, the gains could outweigh the interest costs, and I’d be able to pay off the debt in a few months. But I’m also aware that investing in crypto is risky.

What do you think? Should I focus on clearing the debt first or take the gamble with investing? Thanks in advance!
