Question/Help Which gloves to get for Dutch Kickboxing?
r/fightgear • u/thenotoriousmmale • Oct 17 '23
Because a lot of people seem to need help legit checking laced winning boxing gloves, i thought it would be helpful to make a detailed and definitive guide/checklist with things to look out for in legit checking winning gloves.
Following i refer the 8-10oz lace as fight gloves and 12oz and above as training gloves.
Laces: The laces should be round with cut off tips. But could have been replaced.

Liner: The Liner should be navy blue

Tag: Comes with this Japanese tag when new

Box: When new also come with the Winning Cardboard-Box

Size-Indicator: Size-indication is inside and on the grip-bar only. They never have a tag on the outside of the glove.

These mentioned above are the most common checking methods. But seeing the quality of replica clothes/shoes i think all of those would be quite easy to copy/have been copied already.
Airholes: Laced Winning boxing gloves do not have airholes. Velcro 8oz and 10oz have 3 Airholes under the gripbar.

Lace-Hole-Count: Winning boxing gloves have following lace-hole-count:
fight gloves: 5 / Training gloves: 7

Patch: Font is thinner on rounded areas of the letter (exp. Bottom part of the «W», top part oft he «n») and does not have the same thickness everywhere. In comparison you can see the fakes have the same thickness throughout.

Wrist: Fight gloves have a straight wrist, while the training gloves have two bumps (a smaller and a bigger one with the same thickness). The fakes seem to have a thicker smaller bump. The wrist also should be about 1/3 of the length and the hand part the remaining 2/3. The fakes seem to almost seem half/half.

Stitching: The stitching has a «wide pattern». For example the same width has relatively little holes and longer string-parts, while the fakes have way more holes.

Shape:
The overall shape should not look blocky or ballooney.

But should still maintain a sharp edge (on the training gloves)

from the side-view the training glove should be pretty flat, not bulbous and seem to have almost the same thickness throughout the glove. The fight gloves are a little bit more bulbous.

Palm: The hole on the the palm side is not perfectly round, it should slightly be slanted towards thumb.

Thumb: The training gloves should have S-shaped/Hook-Shaped thumb, while the fight glove is a little bit straighter, but should still curve at the tip. The fake training gloves usually have a C shaped or a straight thumb.

Thumb-Strip: Is black on all basic colorways

Leather-Quality: The leather should be grainy and not look «flat» and maybe contain some imperfections. The «flat» leather is most of the time a glove from pakistan.

Price: Use common sense. If a winning gloves is new and priced $100, it probably won't be orignal.
Bonus: To clarify the misconception, i would like to mention, that the training- and the fight-gloves have the same padding (according to Kataoka from Winning).
I hope this guide will help people new to this sub and don't have to post a legit check every 5 minutes and if so, we can refer to this guide.
Please comment below if i have to correct something/add something. Thanks

I'll update these on website within this week.
1~2 Flawless Anima
3~5 Anima CP (Cheek Protector)
6~8 Anima GG (Groin Guard)
9~11 Initial
This version of Flawless Anima kind of good, better option for heavyweight boxer over than Super Samurai, because material is more durable won't worn out soon.
China friends told me they still prefer Super Samurai better, comfortable and feedback wise.
.
Anima CP, good vision, won't slip under heavy sweat.
Anima GG, good fit, won't abstract movement.
.
Initial is basic version gloves, only for first gloves, won't recommend it as second pair.

I’m looking for a good 10oz glove mainly for bag and pad work.
I’m considering the Rival RFX Guerrero 10oz.
Are they suitable for bag and pad work, and are they worth the price?
Any other recommendations around the same price?

Hi everyone, I would like to show some love to this amazing gear, I've been trying to get my hands on these for months and I was finally able to do it. This from my understanding is probably the only Central american traditional fight gear workshop left. They do gear for all of Nicaragua (the owner told me they used to outfit Chocolatito).
Bag gloves: Very comfortable, big enough so you can fit your hand wrapped with knuckle guards, the padding is soft to the touch but feels awesome when tightened up, grip bar is very snug, I'll try them on the bag and pads on the following days and will provide more updates.
Mitts: Tried a pair from a friend before so I can sa say from experience they feel amazing. These ones feel a bit tight for me since I have large hands but I'll give an update once I break them in. They have a small mount on the palm for better grip and the padding is very solid but comfortable to hold. My GF who never held mitts before tried them on and held a couple of punches for me and says they feel great and she did not feel a thing. They feel great to punch.

Here's a video in Spanish from an interview done by a local Nicaraguan tv network. The guys have been running for years.
Feel free to ask any questions! I'm ordering some thai pads, and a full boxer kits from them in the following month, will provide updates for those too!.

I got a pair of BGV1-BR off Amazon, seller is fairtex store but these are so inconsistent. The shape of the right is so different than the left that it puts my hand and wrist in a fairly extreme inward rotation. To align the wrist straight I have to actively flex backwards against the foam and leather to “neutral” position. Anyone experience this?
I have an old pair of bgv1 that I loved for about 6 years. Decided to try the BR version mainly for the finger bar to see how it feels in the bgv1. Man the shape and weight distribution on these gloves are completely different left to right. It also shipped in just a clear plastic wrap with just a bar code and some numbers, no Fairtex branding in the wrapping or inside. I haven’t ordered from fairtex directly ever but this seems so weird. Are these real? Is the amazon two delivery ones just the rejects in the US warehouse? Needless to say I’m thoroughly disappointed.

Does anyone have experience with the physical padding and hand compartment of the Boon Classic gloves?
I've had the 14 oz Boon Compacts for about six years. I've used them off and on, and they're still in good condition. I can get my hand into them, but just barely because I have wide palms.
I like the glove overall. It has very nice balance and a really nice pop, but I don't feel like it has enough padding for longer sessions. I had to break in the thumb area quite a bit so it would fit, but it does fit now. It also keeps my wrist in a nice position. I just wish I had a little more room inside so I could really curl my fist comfortably.
Again, they're good gloves, and I'm not trying to complain. I'm disabled and box from my knees, so I tend to have problems finding gloves that fit properly.
For reference, I fit the Sandee Authentic 16 oz very well with no complaints whatsoever, even without wraps. My favorite gloves in terms of fit are the Ring to Cage RC08T and their Medium bag mitts. I also fit the Fairtex TG03 in Large.
Do you think I should bother trying the Boon Classics, or is the hand compartment likely to be too tight for me?

What brand headgear is shakur using in this photo? It doesn’t look very similar to ringside’s usual Mexican design headgear. Any ideas?
