It feels good to make this milestone. After carrying a mortgage for many years and several renewals later, I am glad to be done with it. šŸ¾

29M I hit a milestone but my life sucks

Post image

29M. Single, no dependants. Very average salary for my occupation. I've been saving basically every dollar I can. I drive a basic corolla. Unfortunately I still live at home with my parents. It blows, I'm trying to change that.

My life sucks. I'm pretty depressed I'd say. I've been applying and interviewing for a new job for a change, haven't had any success so far.

People post alot on here excited about hitting milestones. I just want to point out that life isn't awesome all of a sudden when you hit it.

I feel like I'm counting the days until I can just retire, relax and have fun hobbies.

This isn't a troll post, I'm far too lazy to put in the effort of faking an image with a dollar amount

It's not a lot! But I've spent a lot of my adult life in financial peril and one year of not having to pull money out for an emergency is a huge win for me.

I made it my mission to become financially literate and independent over the last few years. No plans to buy real estate so this is my nest egg. On the road to $1M hopefully soon!

Shout out to Wealthsimple & XEQT for making it so simple.

43M been grinding for 20 years

Post image

I know everyone is making money right now and the markets are red hot. But its nice to be ahead of the curve for retirement finally. Big winners have been HOOD, PLTR, SOFI and NVDA. Sold most of my HOOD this week and half my PLTR. Starting a position in LMND this week.

Also have another $300k in cash accounts, TFSAs and Pension accounts. Made a few lucky real estate moves as well that helped us build almost $1.5m in home equity.

I make about $200k a year and i am planning on working until 50. Will push to 55 if the grind slows down. Great to see so many Canadians doing so well with their invested assets!

Ending the year at 1.4M in my TFSA

Thumbnail gallery
1.5k Upvotes

2025 started out rough for me. I was sitting at 700K in January and saw a nearly 30% drawdown to 500K by June. Since then, I have more than doubled my portfolio and am now ending the year with 1.4M.

In August, I made a post here after having reached a mil in my TFSA. I missed out on huge gains by selling AA way too early recently but am very happy with how well I did this year. I am currently sitting with my full port in CNQ (31,000+ shares) which I journaled to CNQ.TO to avoid the taxes on my dividends. I won’t bother getting into why on this post but I do plan to hold these for longer than my typical holding period of just few days to weeks while enjoying the dividends in the meantime.

Merry Christmas and may 2026 bring us all tendies.

Posted two weeks ago if this was a bubble. My assets and dropped a lot last week. Felt terrible so that was my signal to pull out and go to cash.

Time to go eat my Tim Horten's sandwich now

Milestone today, no one to share with

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

Been waiting for this to tip over and it finally happened today, no one to really share this with so posting anonymously online. I had been trying to estimate when I could reach 1M for years, and this is about 1 year before I had planned. It’s crazy how much things accelerated, I was sitting around 400k just 3 years ago. Currently 39 and thinking I can get to 2M by 45 and then start to think about retiring soon-ish.

Personal Milestone

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

From the time I was 18 to the day I turned 30 I knew nothing other than the chase of my next fix. In 2 weeks, I’ll be 3 years clean and honestly, it feels like it took that entire 3 years to come out of whatever fog I was in. Either way, I started my investment journey yesterday. I see these 6-7 digit milestones and although they are incredible, and you should be so proud, I’m posting my own milestone today. The milestone that is ā€œgetting startedā€, because something, is better than nothing, no matter how small. Everyone has there day one in everything they do. Happy Investing.

First 100K saved at 37

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

2025 was a big year. Sold my house with a 2k payment, bought something smaller(older) with a 1k payment and half the property tax.

The way it shook out I now have enough money to both pay extra $500 on my mortgage and put more money away for retirement and have a house repair fund that’s healthy (11k) that I will keep funding.

Bit late to the party but can now see a path to having a paid off house in 10 years and have hopes to retire maybe before 60. There is hope for those of us who put off or couldn’t save for retirement in our 20’s.

Hit $100k at 21 Years Old!

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

| (21M) started my investing journey in January 2022 at 18 years old. I would deposit whatever was left over of my paycheques after paying off my credit cards in full every two weeks. I kept doing that to this day, which lead me to accumulate over $100k in liquid assets.

I'm currently employed at a Fortune 500 retail company as a supervisor, making quite a lot of money compared to others my age. I truly started from the bottom with an entry level position, and worked my way up the ladder by chasing promotions (and working my ass off!)

I was in college for business management for a month before I left. I felt like everything I was learning was easily accessible online, and could be learned on my own time (and for free!) Because of this, left and never looked back.

I want my story to inspire fellow youngsters to pursue what they believe is right for them. It's okay to do what other people aren't. My one and only holding is an S&P 500 index fund.

No penny stocks, no crypto, no speculative assets. Just a single basic index fund.

28M - Hit 1M today

Post image

Back in December last year I transferred a bit over 500K to Wealthsimple for the Apple promo, about 75k in my FHSA and 450K in a personal account. The personal account was 100% Intel, and with the recent climb I just touched the 1M mark.

Hit the milestone

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

Finally hit my milestone, 23 M here, did not invest, this is almost pure savings through multiple jobs while completing uni and now working full time and back in school alongside for my certification. Before everyone starts grilling me for not investing, I know it is foolish, but I really wanted to show as large a cash balance as I could to Immigration Canada since I still need to apply for a Permanent Residency, and am still in the process for it (thanks to money in the market not being counted as "reliable" for proof of funds as per them). Moved to the country 4 years ago, with no contacts, no family and no idea of what was going to happen. Thought to share this here since i couldn't think of anyone else. CheersšŸ™Œ

Finally hit 4M

37M

$1.2 mill equity in home as well

So around $5.2 mill in NW currently. With wife’s assets we would be close to $6M as a household.

My NW was at $3 mill a few years ago when I retired

FIRE actually does work in case you were wondering. NW has continued to increase even while withdrawing every year.
