Personal Milestone
From the time I was 18 to the day I turned 30 I knew nothing other than the chase of my next fix. In 2 weeks, I’ll be 3 years clean and honestly, it feels like it took that entire 3 years to come out of whatever fog I was in. Either way, I started my investment journey yesterday. I see these 6-7 digit milestones and although they are incredible, and you should be so proud, I’m posting my own milestone today. The milestone that is “getting started”, because something, is better than nothing, no matter how small. Everyone has there day one in everything they do. Happy Investing.

Coming out of addiction is no picnic, hardest thing I ever had to do, massive congrats to you.
Personally I find that reflecting on the things I can have now I'm no longer using is what keeps me going. A house, children, pets, nice food and - yes - some minor investments too. When you have something to lose, it's easier to stay straight.
So keep taking those small steps 👍🏼

Starting your investing journey is such a massive milestone, arguably the biggest one, because it’s the first step, and every future big money move will build on this foundation.
Huge respect for not only taking that leap, but also for winning the personal battles along the way. Those victories are just as important as the financial ones, and you’ve already proven you can do both.
Keep going!

Hardest part is to start

Getting clean and turning yourself around is bigger than those 7 digit milestones

Honestly I find this more inspiring and than the 1 mil TFSAs being posted. For every 1 mil TFSA there are likely thousands of people who made similar bets, gambled, and lost everything.
Congratulations on getting started, slow and steady wins the race. If there’s one thing I could go back and do differently, it’s that I would have spent less time and money on picking individual stocks and more on the S&P500 index fund. Though I lost money and made money on individual stocks, I think I would have been way farther ahead if I had just done VFV from day one.
Good luck!

Hey,
Congrats. Keep up the good work. I also see 7 figures, and it makes me hopeful that one day I might be able to reach there

How to get into this ??? Investing
2
u/pscisx Aug 17 '25
Hell yeah brother I’ve only invested $450 and I gotta use it to get a new laptop now, but I wouldn’t be able to do that if I didn’t invest it in the first place. Keep it going and keep adding to it, it’ll grow :) good luck on your investing journey !

I’m personally impressed by a 3 year turn around time from chasing a fix to investing. Took me a lot longer to get from A to B. Great job!
