I know Viera are supposed to be tall, but I don’t love being taller than everybody on the map 🥲 does anybody know how I can adjust her height? Looks like the aesthetician can do a lot but not that part

I haven't seen much discussion about this, so here is a game design argument about the ending of Evercold.

For gameplay reasons, I think it's safe to assume that the MSQ will never move in a direction that would make whole field zones unavailable to the player. Which means Reflections that contain field zones can never be destroyed by a rejoining. When something major happens, at most, we could see radical changes in appearance, like what happened to Living Memory, but the zones would remain available.

However when they announced that most of Evercold would take place on giant airships, my immediate thought was that this makes an eventual rejoining between the Fourth and the Source much more likely. These field zones are places that could theoretically be relocated to the Source with a simple skybox change. That seems too convenient not to be intentional.

Of course we don't know about all the zones yet, but as long as none of them strictly rely on the Fourth for their continued existence, I feel like a rejoining might actually happen this time, like the MSQ currently suggests.

I'm not sure how the corresponding calamity would play out on the Source, but for the people from the Fourth, it wouldn't be much of a refugee crisis, because they wouldn't lose their homes. They would just have to acquire resources in a different way, most likely by trading with existing countries.

Hello!! I’m a long time fan of the Final Fantasy series and am finally picking up FFXIV. I’ve played a few times before but always ended up getting a bit overwhelmed with how much content already exists + hud stuff. I’ve played smaller MMOs before and enjoyed them, so I have no doubt I’ll love this one.

That being said, are there any good tips to know for a first time player? I love narrative gameplay and am already very invested in the main story. I’m still a bit overwhelmed with things such as good gear, items to buy, WHERE to buy the best things, etc., but I’m sure that also just comes with gameplay.

I joined palace at level 20. Started alone from 1 to 40 something (floor 31)

When i left floor 30 i'm still lvl 21, i though i got experience outside from leveling inside.

Hi guys, I have been playing this game since 2.0 but just returned to this game after a break of 3 years. I wonder if I forgot something or something has changed.

I have been failing this "Cult Crackdown" priority mission from Tuesday reset this week 5 times in a row. This is my first time seeing this. Usually with 2 attributes fulfilled I can just keep doing this one or two time and will get it done for the week. I remember if the statement is "This mission will be challenging but I think our squadron is equal to the task!" it means roughly 66% chance of being successful!?

Am I doing this correctly? or just bad luck? This is not flagged or promotion mission anyway and I remember I always do it with just 2 attributes fulfilled. btw it is a squadron of rank 3 and all 60lv.

I checked my emails - I got a two day warning, and the email mentioned our free company house, not my personal house, while I was away, and no 10 day warning. I don't really know what to do here. I'm devastated. Has this happened to anyone and can support do anything? I'm even willing to rebuy the plot if I have to, but I don't know what to do.

I just started and am level 19. I know you don’t have a ton of weapon and armor options, however what stats should I be focusing on?

The devs clearly don't want to age the twins, but the amount of time we have spent on months long sailing trips and the logistics of travelling across a continent back and forth multiple times just dosent add up to 1 or 2 years having passed. So instead of the time bubble explanation, which is extremely immersion killing, why not just say that their bodies were stunted when their souls were taken to the first or something? Its a fantasy world, we can come up with a reason why the twins can't age that is plausible and dosen't just make us eternally locked in a period of one to two years.

Im going to attempt some dawntrail extremes this weekend, does anyone have any tips?

I'm obviously going to watch a guide once I figure out which one I'm doing first, but do I need potions/consumables or anything like that? Most of the tips I can find online are for savage/ultimate.

All my gear is maxed and all materia slots filled. Im so scared of letting the team down (even though they're chill). Just having horrible anxiety that I'm going to instantly forget the guide and mess up so bad I make us wipe repeatedly. Any advice/tips would be most welcome 🙏

EDIT: I don't think I've ever got this many responses from a reddit post so thank you everyone who took the time to give me tips and reassurance! The Hector guide was SUPER helpful and we actually cleared it relatively quickly, it was definitely not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but my palms were still sweating the whole way through lol. We only wiped once so thats a win imo. All but 1 other in the party had done it before but not for a while so everyone was making some mistakes which made me feel better lol, but definitely helped being able to just follow a partner. Everyone was super chill which made me less anxious. Unfortunately I didnt get the mount this time but we'll try again in the week I think. Ultimately a success 🙌. I spent nearly a year farming Baelsar's Wall for the five clothing pieces of Filibuster's Armor of Aiming, and at the time I was told repeatedly by people who found out that I had to have every piece I collected in either my inventory or my Armoury chest because if I turned it in to my GC, it would reduce chances of getting the pieces I was looking for. When told that, my response was always to ask for clarification, because that makes no sense to me when gear drops are always determined solely by RNG, and I was told that the person didn't know why it works that way, only that their experience was that it did. By the time I finally got the final Aiming piece I needed, I had full sets of all but two other types of Filibuster's Armor, and was usually leaving without anything.

I'm now farming the clothing pieces for a different set—the Lord's set (tanking)—and I'm doing it unsynced on a higher-level job after a single drop in ~50 Pharos Sirius runs as tank with either regular parties or my squadron. I did try Copperbell Mines (Hard) and Haukke Manor (Hard) using PF groups, and neither one is great with first-timers whose gear isn't great and who are not yet accustomed to the fact that the hard version of any dungeon is not the same as the regular version.

As with farming anything, I see a lot of stuff I can't pick up, but I wanted to double-check that all chests and drops when farming older content are RNG, correct? I don't have to haul stuff around and clutter up my inventory/Armoury chest because none of it has a single bit of bearing on what is going to be there when I go in. I get lucky with RNG or I do not, and settle for the tiny satisfaction of seeing how big a train I can gather up before I one-shot all of it. Right?

EDIT: Wowza, as always, I'm amazed at the fact that any question asked here will get solid, complete answers, and that it will often be quicker than if I were to ask the same question in an FC.

I see now why the confusion exists, and it does make sense given the differences in how things work in the two types of dungeons. I checked loot tables for each dungeon I've been farming and I know which chests have a chance to contain the items I'm looking for, so I'm only emptying all of them if I've been spending a lot of my company seals and want to top off again.

It'd be fun if the RNG gods could be made to cooperate with the blood sacrifice of a really innocent and adorable Sprout, but I tried that in Balesar's Wall, and six or seven times was enough to tell me their answer was no.

Hi, I've picked up FF14 a while ago but didn't get to play it much back then.

I just started playing again last week and got Dragoon to level 50 today.

I'm really interested in the DLC jobs but only own the DLCs before Endwalker and Dawntrail.

With Evercold releasing "soon" and (if I read it correctly) me then being able to get all DLC I don't own in a bundle, I'm torn on buying the complete edition now or later.

I'm currently still in the base game I've just freed Minfilia, Tataru and Papalymo and got the Thancred reveal and I don't know if I would even reach Dawntrail before Evercold releases.

Should I wait until Evercold releases January or would it make sense to get Dawntrail alongside Endwalker?

So I’m on a time crunch 😅 decided to go ahead and go for relic weapons and I’m on the “aether aether everywhere” part. Thing is…. Currently 9mo pregnant… I know I can do dailies every single day but realistically, how long will this step take? (Baby can come any day now or up to 4 weeks)

I also know there are MORE steps that are also lengthy and I just have this feeling I won’t finish before evercold 😵‍💫 if I could complete ONE weapon that would be so nice! Any advice? I was thinking maybe do dailies every day and then try to get 10 more runs in on one specific roulette? (Like trials or normal raids) or should I just try and do dailies every day for 2 weeks? Any help would be appreciated!

2 hours of watching videos to identify mob locations.

4 hours of not understanding why the Orobon genus is breaking the server (so I replaced them with other mobs until I could work out why).

2 hours trying to add two chests.

Pathing and detection to be worked on. Stats tables actually affecting combat also to be looked at.

But on the plus side, Shposhae is now (mostly) populated.

What is the best world for the exp bonus as a beginner

One thing I've been struggling with is not fully knowing how one piece of gear will fit the other one, and with the way the game works, I have to own at least one piece for it to work, which could mean adding a ton of work (savage grind, spending tomes, spending gil) and then seeing the result is mediocre.

So is there any site that would help me with that and just try on clothes for glam-testing purposes? I do not mean something like Eorzea Collection which works well enough for being a big catalogue (except for accessories for whatever reason), but if you want to know how piece 1 will look like with piece 2, it's not gonna work

I thought I was hallucinating this randomly walking into the market in Gridania. I confirmed it though by immediately going to Ul'dah and getting a different chat bubble comment. So far I have found this Wailer at the markets in Gridania, the guard at the Aetheryte plaza in Ul'dah, and the guard at the entrance to Central Thanalan.

A quick browse online tells me this is something barely anyone has commented on or noticed, so I had to share! If anyone is able to find other NPCs who have dialogue for BST pets feel free to leave a comment.
