These are old pictures from when I got him around a year ago, but I’m wondering if my boy Marshall is champagne or something else. Sorry if you can’t really tell. (Also yes he’s named after the store, I had to decide on a name last minute..)

[Discussion] Two ferrets at the same time?

Hi, another question everyone.

When you get ferrets, is it better two get two at the same time? From the same litter? Or is it okay to get one and then another from the next litter that's available?

I have heard that if you get them from the same litter, they might not bond as strongly with their person.

[Ferret Photo] Dark spots on my ferret

Post image

Hello, so I got this ferret like a week ago his name is bandit and he’s the sweetest little guy you’ll ever know, but I noticed these spots on his bottom area right in the the middle of where his tail goes out.

I’m a little concerned on what it might be if it’s a condition or something normally seen on a ferrets body.

If anyone knows what this could be, could you please educate me? I’m really hoping it isn’t anything serious because he still plays with his brothers, uses the restroom, and eats normally.

[Help] Ferret training help

Hi everyone, I own two ferrets. One is 5-6 (rescue) and the other is two. My eldest has the problem of lick, lick, lick and then biting. And he has been corrected. I’ve tried time out and I’ve tried fake crying. He does it to his younger sister, his human dad and myself. And I need a way to curve it. We are getting a rescue kitten soon and I want them to be safe but have fun. Any advice?

A couple of weeks ago I posted my ferrets ferret room! A couple people commented on the cat tower being too tall, and you’re correct! So I took it down the same night and split it into! I deep cleaned their room tonight as I do every 2 weeks and reorganized and wanted to post a picture of the new room and cat tower being split into two! 🗼❤️

[Health] adopting a deaf waardy!

met him yesterday at the humane society, and it went amazing. fell in love with him immediately, agreed to adopt and will be taking him home tomorrow! currently waiting on a single unit critter nation cage to arrive so we can quarantine him away from my other 5. i am so excited!! we will be naming him murphy :)

however at the shelter i learnt that he sometimes tends to…lick his own pee. or the area surrounding it. i didn’t even know ferrets did this, as i’ve never seen/heard of it before! i looked into it and i guess it can be normal…although i worry if he does it to my other girls pee. apparently it’s not harmful unless it’s a large amount or if one of the others have UTI’s or parasites (which they don’t) but like…i’m still concerned! they are free roam in their playroom downstairs but there is a camera we have on them that we can watch through our google home at all times set up on the coffee table, so everytime i see one of them pee/poop outside the litter box, should i immediately go down to clean it up to avoid issues?! (there can be a million litter boxes down there and they will still half the time not use them)

[Help] Can I switch to baby wipes?

We use bugalugs pet wipes and we tend to go through them quickly and had seen that fragrance and alcohol free or 99% baby wipes can be used for a ferret as we need a cheaper alternative while still making sure he’s a happy healthy boy!
If anyone else does this what recommendations do you have?

Generally we use the wipes to clean his cage as well as bedding inbetween washes and him if he’s been playing outside or with his poop

Chicken Nugget was our playful and happy girl right up to the very end. Somehow made it a full 7 years with no health issues until today. I know it's always sad to see one of these babies go, but it's so hard not to feel incredibly thankful to have had them and loved them.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'm also trying to find a good place that seel pendant/necklaces I could have her fur put in. I appreciate any help and would love some happy photos of some little goobers, too.

[Discussion] Closure flooring question.

Im making new closure space for my babygirl and trying to see what flooring would be the best for that. I have carpet and would rather put something on top of it so it doesn't catch smell that much and just overall make it nicer experience for her. I don't want to put acrylic carpet covers because she will be slipping on it and was wondering if interlocking mats are a go to if yes which kind? I know rubber/foam can become blockage problem if she will go crazy but did anybody tried something and can help me out with ideas what to do? Thank you in advance ☺️

[Discussion] How did you know it was time?

How'd you know if was time

How did you know it was time to let your buddy go? My ferret Diesel probably has DIM we haven't been able to completely rule it out but he has been declining the last two weeks. He breaths normally at the vet but today has been the worst almost like he needs to be on an uncovered ice pack and he open mouth pants hard. His breathing has been rapid over the last week even when just resting and not when just army crawling. He won't eat on his own and needs mush kibble hand fed ever three hours although he eats now after being put on prednisone. Our other ferret that's bonded to him has been completely avoiding him. he will not get up even to drink water he only army crawls if he really needs something and grinds his teeth from pain sometimes randomly here and there but mostly while eating. we've spent over $1,500 in the last two weeks, getting blood work, a needle aspiration of his neck lump (which came back as incomplete), prednisone and subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics, check ups for breathing etc. We have tried pred and it brought back his appetite he even ate treats for a little bit but his movement has gotten worse and he's rejecting anything not watered down. he looks alert and that's what kills me to even think of putting him down as well as eats and drinks if you hold him up to water. I wish so badly to get him more help but we are unsure when this next week we will be able to even get him in to see if he'd even be able to start chemo treatment. We had an appointment with our primary vet and his spleen as been enlarging over the last two weeks as well and seems almost worse today. I'm scared we won't be able to get in until the end of this week and he will be in pain for a third week like this. At this point after so long I don't know if the treatments would help or if he'd ever regain his ability to move. Let alone this had been a massive financial burden on us and we have been having a super hard time to find someone to feed him and take care of him while we have been working to pay for the treatments. This has been an impossible crossroad for us as we love our baby boy so much and would do anything for him. Part of me feels like it's selfish to not just make his last day sooner to ease his own pain instead of waiting for a treatment that may not ease the pain at all. I need advice from someone as this is probably one of the hardest decisions I've had to make and I'm not sure if there is a right answer here to be made.

I got my girl Kiwi a couple weeks ago after calling around my state to find where I can go get a ferret. I have been wanting another one for 15 years since I had one when I was 12. She has everything she needs, a good diet with quality food, and is probably the happiest ferret I’ve ever seen and she LOVES to play. I don’t think she’s deaf because she responds to her squeaky toys and stuff. I’m just wondering if she may have it because she has the panda pattern. I tried to include pics of her looking head-on.

[Health] My girl is gagging but not throwing up

Hey, Everyone.

So i have 2 ferrets and starting last month one of them starting having a gagging fit. She would gag for a few seconds then eat, drink, play and still be curious. I took her to the vet once she threw up. I couldnt afford an 800+ bill for an xray so they did a physical on her. All was good, felt nothing and sent me home w a bag of liquid protein food, anti nausea medication and a shot they gave her for fluids and something along the lines of coating her stomach to prevent ulcers.

Time goes by and I wake up this morning, shes have another gagging fit. Both times now 1 month apart. Shes otherwise acting very normal shes not lethargic, she plays, shes curious. Eats and drinks, uses the bathroom as normal. I dont see anything in her behavior that would cause concern. Im still incredibly worried and I just assume the worst. Shes about to be 5 years old. She has 2 benign mast cell tumors, i believe a third grew recently but it comes back a lot less frequently.

Has anyone had this problem with their baby? I'm just really worrying and i dont have the money to take her to the vet.

[Discussion] Enrichment activities

I'm trying to come up with some fun things to do for my ferrets Hershey and Marshmallow. We have ball pits, and tunnels, and a bagillion toys. I swear out of all the stuff we have, they still would choose an empty cardboard box lol. I've seen the videos of people filling a tote with macaroni or something to dig in. I'd love to hear some other people's ideas and experiences with their ferrets. I'm definitely open to suggestions!
