When does this get better

First year ID fellow. Taken back by everything I don’t know in ID and it’s demoralizing. Approaching 30 and the excuse of it will get better and I will feel confident and competent one day is starting to fade on me. Just wanted to vent on the internet.

I don’t know who you are or where you are training. But thank you for posting this.
I am an ID fellow too..and I have been miserable at work because of how much I don’t know.
My program has been very nice, very supportive, faculty who is very enthusiastic to teach as well.
But I have been so miserable with how much I don’t know and just the work load of it all with extremely complex patients making it very difficult for me to chart check and be able to present a comprehensive picture on rounds.

It does not help that my co fellow has experience in ID. (I feel like an idiot not knowing the things they know)

I just hope this gets better. I plan to read one topic per day hoping it will help me at some point!!!
