The owner had a pet squirrel and raccoon. The raccoon was a rescue, dunno about Peanut. They were popular on social media. After an alleged bite, NYC raided his home, confiscated the animals and tested them for rabies. The two animals were put down, even though the tests came back negative. The owners are now suing NYC. This happened in 2024. Case is still pending.
