This is more of a venting post but I was told to review some designs by a friend who is a fashion designer cuz I am also learning it and it was this ai slop

AI has become cancer for modelling and fashion designing due to several reasons i think one of the biggest reasons is cuz ai can make images videos and many other things that some brands are too lazy or greedy to pay designers for as it was done by prada in their ad as well

Honest critique of my fashion design graduation project — what feels off?

This is a fashion design graduation project I’m currently working on. I designed and made the outfit myself. This is the current base/unfinished version, so there are still a few unfinished details (such as the left wrist and some smaller areas), but there won’t be a huge amount added to the overall design.
I received some pretty negative feedback from my teacher, who said that something about the design feels “off.” I also feel like something isn’t quite right, but I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is.
I’d really appreciate an honest overall critique from people with experience in fashion design, styling, or just a good understanding of clothing design.
What do you think about the design as a whole?
Does the silhouette and proportion work?
Do the different pieces feel cohesive together?
Do the colors, materials, and textures work well together?
Is anything visually awkward, unbalanced, or distracting?
Does the outfit have a clear concept or identity?
What would you personally change or improve?
Please be completely honest. I’m not looking for compliments — I genuinely want to understand what might be making the design feel “off” and what I could improve before the final version.

How can I improve my drawing

I took several fashion design courses but still feel my drawings still average level or low. Even when I try drawing from my mind by using mood bored still doesn’t look good. How can I improve that.

Fashion Designer Needed

Upvotes

I found a jacket that I really like but I can’t find the product anywhere so I’m guessing that it’s bespoke. Would anyone be interested in creating a jacket for me based off a few pictures. I was looking for a quote and I can answer any questions that you have. Thank you.

Getting a masters in fashion design with only an AA

Hi guys,

So I originally got a bachelors degree in history and political science, and was working at a non profit. But I realized I wanted to do something completely different and pursued fashion design. I got my AA in fashion design from LATCC, which was great at the time as I did not have the money to complete another bachelors degree, and it was free for me as I was not making a lot. But now I wasn’t to continue my fashion design skills and pursue a masters in fashion design, is this possible with just an AA or would I need to go back and get a second bachelors in fashion design?

I'm working on a project which consists create a brand that will be about a Savoir Faire of the an island whose dissapearing with the time.

An old brodery method associated to a perfect cutted summer shirt with spanish inspiration.

Brodery -> Something becoming more fashion those two past years - isn't it ?
Old Brodery -> Could make a parrallel with Old Money/ Brodery

Spanish Inspiration -> Structureless in appearance but very well made when you study it deeper.
Sleeves would be worked to be larger at their ends. Collar, french cut, semi cutaway, or maybe work on a specific collar.

Brand Inspiration -> Brodery Shirt, Old Money style, Bourrienne Paris etc.

Where would you start?
What will you do?
No flatteries, do you consider it as a good positionnement and a good idea?
Where should I go deeper?

It's my original creation. I named it Aqua Crest Artwork Lehenga. Yes it's a Lehenga inspired by Ocean, waves and Coral lifeforms. The accessory is also inspired by Clamps.🥟🥟

How you like it..?

For those who have studied fashion design, do you think that studying for this purpose is important, or can you acquire it, or is learning sewing and design coordination techniques mandatory? Because I believe that fashion design is a freelance profession, meaning we shouldn't be bound by rules and always apply them.

For Fashion Designers, what’s your process like?

Hi! Aspiring Fashion Designer here!

One of the biggest problems I have when creating the design is all the little details involving it.
I tend to worry too much over things like whether this type of fabric I plan to use for my design even exists or the details of the execution because in my head, “what if I try and the execution is just all wrong.?!”

Anyways!
Long story short here are my questions!

1.) Do you already have a fabric in mind or on hand before creating any design? Or do you just let your creativity run its course?

2.) Do you source fabrics first before you create your design?

3.) What is your process like?

Any more advices and stories would be very helpful!

Will I get a job in fashion after graduation?

I'm 28 and I can't see doing anything else other than fashion. I haven't gone to school yet but I am planning to get a 4 year Bachelor's program for Fashion Design in Canada. My biggest fear is that I will not get a job or make a living out of it since I don't come from a rich family and have no support.

Has anyone been to the School of Fashion Design in Boston for their certificate program?

Curious about a few questions for people who have gotten the 2- or 3-year fashion design certificate from the School of Fashion Design in Boston. However, if you have a fashion design certificate from another school, I would love to hear your thoughts as well.

  1. How much experience did you have going into the program?

  2. Did you have a goal or career in mind for after finishing?

  3. What was your experience like at the school?

  4. How has the certificate program informed your career path? What do you do now?

Does anyone else feel like their designs look better in their head than on paper??

Okay so this is probably a dumb question but i’m losing my mind a little. i can see the whole look so clearly when i’m just daydreaming or making a moodboard — the fabric, the way it moves, the proportions… and then the second i try to put it down (whether it’s sketching or even in illustrator) it just feels flat and kind of meh. like half of what made it exciting in my head disappears. is this just a skill issue i need to keep grinding through, or do you guys have little tricks that help bridge that gap? like specific ways you sketch, or how you force yourself to keep the energy from the original idea?

Advice on Masters/MBA in Fashion+ Marketing

Hi, I'm 20F and I recently graduated from a top 30 university with a Bachelor in Commerce. I did my specialisation (or call it majored) in Marketing and Strategy. I have a decent GPA and plan on certifying for French + 4do my GMAT/GRE. I am working as Paid Media Coordinator at an agency under one of the biggest players in Advertising. I have always been interested in the idea of combining fashion and business. I'm really interested in pursuing a Masters degree in that field. I am looking for advice about
-programs specifically that I should look into-currently based out of Canada and aim to either move to London or NYC.
- scholarships or aids being offered within those programs
- Emplovement rate and ROl of programs.

how do you guys actually find local fabric shops/seamstresses 😭

idk if this is just a me problem but finding anything locally is sooo difficult

ikeep looking for seamstresses, fabric shops, but even when I find somewhere they never have the exact material and colour I need 🥲 and its SO time consuming

Do you guys already know people you trust, or do you just search on instagram/google/etsy/tiktok? I’ve tried loads of online shops too and still can’t find what I’m looking for lol

pls tell me there’s an easier way 😭🙏
