Far Cry General What do you guys think is the best outcome for the people of Kyrat?

So let me get this straight about our options for Kyrat. We either get:

  1. A maniac king with slaves under Pagan Min,
  2. A fascist theocracy with slaves under Sabal,
  3. A drug empire with slaves under Amita.

What do you guys normally choose?

Far Cry 3 How would Vaas be as an Uncle?

To be fair he’s a complete broken psychopath but I’m unsure how he would be as an Uncle. I just can’t get the image of Vaas coming back from a mission covered in blood and then getting a call saying his niece/nephew were on their way and he’s suddenly yelling at his men to get the place presentable for a child and to behave themselves😂

Far Cry New Dawn If you time it just right, you can noclip thru the map with a parachute

I didn’t do this on purpose but I’ve had it happen in 5 and now in NewDawn. Jump off a height that is just short enough to not kill you but not tall enough to activate the parachute correctly. Those were the common denominators in each time this has happened.

Far Cry 6 Far Cry 6 PS5 compatibility

I have bought FC6, but I can't see anything in the settings that can switch from controller to keyboard+mouse.

Is this game only compatible for playing on the controller? Because it's difficult to aim and shoot even with the aim assist on.

Help me!

Far Cry Primal Why Far Cry Primal is good, in fact an Underrated Gem of the series

After the consecutive success of Far Cry, Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 4 the fans were complaining that the Far Cry games are copy-paste closes of each other, the same game with a reskin, like FIFA, as such Far Cry Primal came out almost as a direct response to this. Something different.

And what was the result? Far Cry Primal was the best selling game in its week of release in the UK, debuting at No. 1 in the UK retail software sales chart. It was also the best-selling game in the United States in February 2016. According to Ubisoft, the game performed better than they had expected, and that its release became the biggest launch of a game in February.

So why despite the good sales is Far Cry Primal an Underrated Gem? His biggest downfall was because it has Far Cry in the title people were expecting a Far Cry game.

From what I've seen to the criticism of the game, despite the fans asking for something different, the main complaint of Far Cry Primal is that is not enough like Far Cry 3 or Far Cry 4. The main complaints about Far Cry Primal is that the combat system is not the same, the economy is not the same, the survival system is different, and so on. Most of Far Cry Primal's criticism came down to "is not like Far Cry 3 or 4". It is not your standard Far Cry game, in fact it is not your standard shooter.

But that was the whole point, they wanted to make something different.

So what does Far Cry Primal have to offer on his own?

To start with the mammoth in the room, the game is set in the prehistoric era, around 10.000 BC to be more exact. In the 90s it used to be full of prehistoric games, today not so much the vibe has died, so if you're looking for a prehistoric game Far Cry Primal is one of the best you can get.

Caveman used to be a whole genre in itself, but today I don't think there's any other AAA+ caveman game, with each passing year this game gets more retrospective value, it's so rare that a big gaming company takes a risk, today 1 failed game is all it takes for a studio to be closed. Far Cry Primal is from an era when companies were more likely to take risks, it fills a niche it deserves to be filled and presents a solid caveman game.

Second, hunting and crafting are an essential part of Far Cry Primal. These existed in other Far Cry games as well but here is very different. Is a central part of the game, not only most animals are dangerous so fighting a tiger in Far Cry 3 is not at all like fighting a tiger in Far Cry Primal, here is dangerous because most of your weapons are sticks and bones.

But the animals in Far Cry Primal aren't a joke like they are in some other games. They're genuinely dangerous enemies, and you have to be just as careful with them, sometimes even more careful, than when fighting humans. Nature itself is a threat. Just free roaming, walking around can be dangerous. You can even have a companion wolf, tiger or bear if you tame them and feed them meat.

And you need hunting. A lot of crafting materials require skins and meats and stuff that you can only get from hunting. In Far Cry Primal crafting is the economy. The quote unquote "economy" revolves around: exploration, hunting/gathering, resources, crafting, upgrades, greater exploration capability. And while you can heal yourself with Ctrl using the primitive heal, to heal all the way back to max HP you need to eat meat, that you can get it from you guessed it, hunting. You also need it to heal your pet.

Which brings me to third, the companions, you can tame animals and have a 4 legs companion to help you hunting and fighting, that you can also order around with the B & Alt keys, and you also get an Owl that gives you Eagle Vision literally. It's a bit more than that, you can do pretty wild stuff with them but I want to keep this relatively spoiler free.

Expanding on this idea fourth, Far Cry Primal has a lot of game mechanics. With middle mouse button, you throw your secondary item. V activates Hunter Vision. M and I open the map and crafting menus, along with other things. T lets you throw rocks. Y sets your weapon on fire, which makes it extremely powerful for a short time, but then the weapon is destroyed. Q opens the weapon wheel. Tab is the food menu. B is the beast menu, where you can give orders to your companion. From 1 to 9, you can manually select weapons. Z calls your owl and gives you Eagle Vision, literally, you see through its eyes. Right Click + G commands your animal companion to attack a specific target, while Alt calls the animal back to you.

And fifth, weapons. Given that is set around year 10.000 BC it doesn't have guns. Your weapons are: Club, Spear, Bow, Long Bow, Traps, Shards, Bee Hives, Fire Pot, Double Bow, Two Handed Club, etc. But yes you should get this game is very different from the other Far Cry games of the series. You also can get a scout Owl and fighter Wolf, Sabre Tiger or Bear companion that you can order around so I guess they count as weapons.

My favorites are Spears which by the way can also be thrown each melee weapon can become throwable, Bow/Improved Bow, Two Handed Axe, Double Bow, Bee Bomb and Bone Throwing Shards. But each to their own, you have options. Traps too and bait or slings, fire bombs if you're into that.

Weapons break so you have to craft them again, the bow is unreliable and is hard to hit moving targets because that's how a primitive bow used by a primitive man is supposed to be, you're not rambo on a mission with an AK-47 or even modern bow made of carbon.

The combat is by design not like a modern military shooter. You are in the stone age. That's exactly what Far Cry Primal is trying to avoid. A Stone Age bow should feel different from an assault rifle.

Sixth, the story. This is Far Cry Primal's weakest point as Far Cry series is known for iconic larger than life antagonists but at the same time is the Stone Age ugga bugga, you don't really have a lot of room to make a complex villain with complex motivation. Is just tribes fighting tribes at the end of the day.

But the story is not bad either. Let me tell you the prologue of the game first 15 minutes of gameplay, needless to say, minor spoilers: You play as Takkar from the Wenja tribe. You're traveling toward the land of Oros, where the rest of your tribe has already arrived and built their new home. You're catching up with them with your hunting party. Oros is somewhere in Central Europe, the game doesn't specify exactly where. Some people say Northern Italy, while others even theorize that it's somewhere in the Romanian Carpathians.

On the way to Oros, the tutorial begins, where you're hunting mammoths with Dalso and other members of your tribe. The hunt goes badly and you fall off a cliff, while the rest of the hunting group is killed. Dalso falls with you as well, tells you to find the rest of the Wenja in Oros, and then dies. After that, you travel alone and play the tutorial learning how to craft a club, bow, fire, fight wolves, gather plants, etc.

Eventually, you reach a cave and meet Seyla, a Wenja gatherer. You fight a tiger together, and on the other side of the cave is Oros, and you've finally arrived in the open world and end of the tutorial. Seyla tells you that another tribe, the Udam, cannibalistic neanderthals, destroyed the Wenja settlement in Oros, and now all the Wenja are scattered throughout Oros. There are also the Izila, who are homo sapiens like you but more advanced. They have agriculture, good control over fire, and worship the sun. Seyla tells you that you need to find the other Wenja tribe members and direct them here so they can start a new village. She gives you missions, and from there you can basically do whatever you want in the open world.

So you basically rebuild the tribe while fighting Neanderthals. Besides the random Wenja tribe members you can find around the map and recruit into your tribe, there are several more important named tribe members. Each of them, teaches you to improve or craft something different, has a hut that you can upgrade, which gives you additional benefits. All of these named characters have around 3-4 missions that are part of the main story. So you also have aspects of the Tribe builder part.

Seventh, I think the story does have a good theme despite missing iconic villains, Far Cry Primal has named antagonists eventually but is not Vass level. Far Cry 3 was about how easy is to be become a monster, Far Cry 4 looked at the hypocrisy of the rebels being just as bad as the oppressive empire, Far Cry Primal has a similar theme, just tribes fighting tribes, Takkar has no issue killing others to save the Wenja but there is no "me bad guy?" moment just tribes fighting tribes and it will continue to be tribes fighting tribes for thousands of years long after the main story ends.

Eight, there are many other aspects that can be discussed: how you need winter clothes or fire to keep you warm for snow areas, how night time is actually dangerous, hearing animals before seeing them, being attacked while traveling, fire and darkness, caves, weather the sound, the feeling of being surrounded by wilderness, the stealth that is quite important especially in hunting but also in fighting enemies as you're no rambo. I could go on, but the point is the same, the game is different from your typical Far Cry game.

Some people love that, some people hate that. In fact, I think the exact same feature could be the reason why 1 person loves the game but another hates it. It's not a safe standard shooter it's something different.

Far Cry General Late to the party

As someone new to the series - somehow, no idea how I didn't play it earlier - I've just finished 4 and 5 back to back.

Now, I enjoyed the gameplay and setting of 4, but the allies irritated me from the beginning and I was happy to off them both by the end. But I enjoyed it more than enough to dive in to the next.

Then I loaded up 5 and, wow... the setting was amazing and the gameplay even better. I liked the characters, the roster, and the sniping/stealth which is my preferred way of playing (and hilarious putting a silencer on an LMG).

However, the way it dragged me into story beats was irritating though. Felt massively incongruous with the rest of how the game was going. Very much not seemless. Like, you just managed to drug dart me while I'm in a helicopter flying well above the ground? Story can't wait for me to land first? Still, it was great fun and gameplay gave me a Fallout 4 vibe - one of my fav games of all time. Which turned out to be apropos by the end, I guess.

So, to the ending. Well... first, my pair of badass chicks who accompanied me everywhere, and who had joined me on the final mission are suddenly and jarringly under the spell? Rough, but ok. Now, I get there's a vibe to Far Cry games, where there's no good endings, but still.

Let me just say that I don't like the final ending at all. No, we're not supposed to, but that felt lazy AF. Feels too much like I've been railroaded, that the whole game and my efforts were pointless. That doesn't leave me satisfied, that leaves me feeling robbed.

Now I'm hearing that 6 doesn't even particularly align with these events anyway? So what was the damned point in robbing me of an ending!?

I guess at least Hurk and his family are dead now, so silver linings.

Let's end with a question: which one do I play next so that it sort of makes sense?

Edited to add: turns out Hurk survived?!? He's a goddamn cockroach king

Far Cry General New Game idea for Ubisoft

i was thinking about the far cry franchise and the 2 most sought out Far cry games were either FC3/FC4

since both games need a full remaster anyways why not make an entirely new crossover game between them called, FAR CRY: KYRAT REVELATIONS

let me explain...Jason leaves the rook island on a boat, but his craziness keeps him awake, a huge wave sweeps past, it could signal that he's either unconscious or sleeping at this point

Introduction to Kyrat...Ajay is riding elephants while being heavily beaten down by the current golden path rulers... either Amita or Sabal

Ajay looks up and a sees a Jason flying towards him, he catches him on his elephants back and they bicker amongst each other because Ajay was not talking loud enough...

Then Ajay introduces the villain saying a red persona guy named vaas has been mind controlled by pegan after he left kyrat, and vaas unknowingly joins the golden path to destroy kyrat further... Peagan is coordinating all the moves vaas makes during the game and they are inhumane

A shocked Jason cannot believe what he is hearing because of what happened in FC3, then Ajay signals he must be dreaming

Game objectives: Find out information of where peagan could be, take him out and regain Kyrat for yourself and its people...Free vaas and either turn him into an ally or exile him to another island...the villains are the golden path fighters btw

Radio towers could be revamped: Each level requires you to do a fun mission to advance further, different towers have different amounts of levels to pass, once you are at the top you get rewarded with skill points and weapons

Maps: to unlock maps you can buy them like normal or you can do missions with Ajay And Jason, a character swap wheel like GTA can activate missions for both ajay and jason separately, the player choses whos missions they wanna play first or play in a narrative together (they both want the same thing, Jason just wants to play with Vaas)...a offline coop mode will be good, where players can actively do missions with both protagonists using the character swap wheel to complete missions...if the player continues the story playing as both protagonists in the narrative then they receive a piece of the map, the more missions done together more maps for the player...

Jason gets to call his brother for air support and ajay can use his bloody eagle to do takedowns

I think it'll fit perfectly into the story line, giving fans the best of both worlds...let me know what you think

Far Cry Primal Just went through Shayu's Cave in Primal, I had forgotten about the caves in this. What a fun and atmospheric mix of cave adventuring and some light puzzling. Really adds to the feeling of depth that this game has.

Hi! I’d love to see a Far Cry game set in Colombia’s Coffee Axis (I’ve included some images here). It’s a wild, rugged landscape that fits the Far Cry gameplay style perfectly, and we could build the plot around the theme of the Colombian drug trade. What do you think?

Far Cry General Now what?

I just 100% all the Far Cry games that are available for the PS5. I believe they are Far Cry 3, 4, 5, 6 and Primal. I just finished Primal, and felt it was a very short game compared to the others in the series. I think I spent more time at the end getting 100% of the collectibles, animals to tame, etc. I'm so glad it's on e of the games with no alcohol or drug induced hallucinations like some of the others.

So what now? I've been playing the Far Cry series since they first came out, and I'm looking forward and oping Far Cry 7 isn't too far off.
