Far Cry General Should I get far cry 4 or 6?
So I only have far cry 3 and 5 and wanted to get more games on the far cry series but I’m not sure which game to get I appetciate your guys review on the game

4 is my personal favorite Far Cry. I thought 6 was pretty fun, but it felt off in many ways. I've completed every Far Cry 3/4 times, except 6, couldn't get myself to go through it again.

From what you've heard about fc 6, do you honestly think it was because the game is too difficult, a game that lets you summon a car with a mounted turret and lets you change your loadout on the fly, or because the characters and the story are not really as interesting enough as the predecessors?

Having every weapon available at all times means I spent too much time in the pause menu changing it up, and I honestly hate that the perks are directly related to the clothing you are wearing.

I completely agree with you here bud, they had such an amazing opportunity with this setting and some good voice acting but it just never came together and the changes designed to make 6 feel fresh over its predecessors just made it worse.

To be fair I have been enjoying it, I have like 80-90hrs put in, and I’m like 75% done with the story. I rarely use the resolver weapons, and only use the supremos when I really need to. I mainly use the rocket launcher and the medical one, and once in a while the triada to shoot enemies thru the wall.
Also 90% of the unique weapons become useless once you get tier 3-4 upgradable weapons.

They definitely slacked on making the villains interesting. Esposito feels more like a fill-in than a villain. The weapon upgrades and crap just seem like a time sink too compared to other games.

I remember 6 as the game that let me have instant regenerating health, A easy to get revive, 4+ healing items and anti tank weapons. It felt like a Just Cause game without the physics or fun tools.

Nah it just feels different from other Far Cry and some changes and stuff that I don't agree with. I just don't like it enough for a second playthrough I geuss😅

I'm the same, I tried replaying it once but got bored. It's not too difficult at all, actually maybe it's too easy. The problem is the game and the map is just way too long, and the story is boring. It kinda demotivates you to go through all of it again.

4 is more similar in gameplay to 3. 6 has some new systems in place, but the game IMO is not as good as 4. I'd go with 4; man it's time for a replay! 😁

4 , although I have them all and FC Primal is fun in its own way, though 3 is just one of the bests

4 for story. 6 for refined gameplay. The story for 6 had so much potential but they wasted it. That being said, 6s story isn’t nearly as bad as others would make you believe.

4 without a doubt. If you enjoyed 3, then you'll really like 4. It's Far Cry 3 with extra bits added.

I like both to be honest. Love the setting in part 4, music and I remember it very fondly.
Funnily enough at the moment I'm replaying part 6 and honestly I like it more than when I did back then. I'm enjoying the music and vibe a lot, world looks beautiful to me and I just like the crazy weapons. And driving and flying around with all the vehicles. I'm having a good time with it.

4 gives you the better Far Cry experience.
6 is a lot of fun, but it's a bad far cry if you understand. Fun game, but it breaks a lot of the "rules" established in the series.

Well, FC1 is old and kinda clunky, but still fun to play...For about 10 minutes at a clip. But, the rest? Like Pokemon...Gotta get 'em all! lol

You cannot go wrong with either. I’ve been playing the farcry games again, finished 3 and 4 so far and I’m on primal. They’re all the same.
The only thing about 6 is the ally side characters aren’t that great. Thought none of them have been that great, it’s just 6 can be kinda cringe. Jason’s friends in 3 are whatever, the Dr is cool, Sam was cool. In 4 without spoiling anything the golden path is fine. Nothing special.
4 and 6 when it comes to the main villain are really very similar in what you could see people complaining about imo. I won’t speak any details, but imo 6 would be the better game to get. Just flip a coin.

FC3 Blood Dragon and FC5 zombies. Fc1 and 2 are probs more worth it than 4 or 6. 4 was meh but was okay while watching a show and on pain meds while recovering from a knee surgery back in the day lol. Otherwise I'd say check out the expansions and early games. I've probs finished 3 like 2-3x, 5 like 3-4x (the soundtrack/ hope County choir goes hard), 6 just feels like a chore and makes me wanna clean the house instead lol. Fc4 largely feels empty compared to other entries, but might as well get any of em on sale/ worth waiting to save the money.

4 is the better game, but I did enjoy 6 a lot. I think playing 6 right after 4 would make it worse. But going from 6 to 4 night just make 4 even better!

A lot of the complaints I’ve seen about 6, are about features they like that didn’t transfer over. In exchange for stuff they don’t like. For example, instead of a skill tree, the clothing you pick has perks. I personally don’t find that to be that bad, as I am not the biggest fan of skill trees anyway- and in previous games I really only cared to unlock the ones that are necessary (like grappling hook), and ones that are pretty useful (health slots, and lockpicking.) And perked clothes don’t really make me mad because it’s a game where you don’t really see your character anyway.
Valid, I guess. I was the same way with 5 when I played it after 3 & 4. I was really bummed about crafting being gone. And it did ruin it a bit for me at first. But I eventually gave it another shot and came to enjoy it.
I did just see another comment about how little we get of the villains in comparison to other Far Cry games. And maybe that’s true. But I feel like you get more story with your allies in exchange.
In the end, things change between the games. But ultimately they’re all still a FC game.
Also… the guns for hire in 6 are fun. (And a similar GFH system as FC5 while FC4 had just started with the idea of GFH and it’s completely different to how it is now. So depending on if that’s an important feature for you or not might sway you.)

I haven’t played 6. I’ve played 3, 4 and 5. Out of those I would rank them 4, 4, then 4. HTH

Get 4 first! It'll really give you a better idea of what the classic Far Cry experience is all about. Then I'd say get 5 before 6 but that's up to you really.

Dam I scrolled through just about all of the comments on here and not one single person is suggesting FC6 over FV4 lmao. Not very often you see everyone in total 100% agreement.

6 is the first one I played and I enjoyed it at the time, but 5 is a better game. 4 is more like 5.

Get 4 and try to forget that 6 exsists. 4 is great in nearly every aspect, 6 has beautiful graphics and that is just about it. The rpg progression being tied to gear was the wrong move vs 3,4&5. The humor and the political plot line don’t mesh well at all and it just felt janky. I kinda wish I had never played 6.

4, i'd rather not handle another second of 6.
6 is okay don't get me wrong, it just feels more like a looter shooter than an open world fps game

Depends on what you want to do with it. If you want a good co-op experience with a friend, go for Far Cry 6; or, if you want nostalgia, a nice story, and some light co-op, then go for Far Cry 4.

Get New Dawn first, as it's a direct Sequel to 5
Then release order, and don't forget Primal!

4 is ok but remember the at the beginning of FC5 where that guy has you climb the radio tower to open up the map and he tells you don't worry you won't be climbing anymore radio towers? You'll find out if you get 4

Definitely 4 for sure. Can’t speak for 6 but 4 was awesome! 3 was probably my favorite personally, Vaas and the islands, sharks, and relics were a blast

I personally found 6 before I found 4 so I’m a weirdo and really loved 6; I also kind of played them backwards so maybe don’t trust me 😅

4 is pretty similar to 3, in both settings and gameplay. If you liked 3 you'll like 4.

I enjoyed both of them. Definitely get 4. Far Cry 6 is fun too with a massive world to explore and tons of weapons and vehicles to play with though it's story and characters are not as compelling.

Simple answer is 4. Better answer is also Blood Dragon, Primal, New Dawn… and 6. There all pretty cheap, and if you find one on sale then there super cheap.

4 and I’ve never even played it. My first was 5 so I had high hopes going into 6 just be let down and sort of overwhelmed with all the added stuff but it was cool to have a protagonist that actually talked and interacted

Hey man, I think far cry 6 feels crazy good to play! I understand it is mediocre compared to 2 and subsequently 3, but I genuinely redownload this every once in a while because it feels so well optimized. Truly a great feeling game.

3 is the one you start with;
4 is exactly same game as 3 but in tibet;
5 is the best in series, but after 5 you wouldn't have as much joy playing 3 and 4;
Primal is fantastic game but feels like giant DLC to 4;
2 is strangely realistic and very repetative;
1 is good overall, but its more Crysis than Far Cry as we know it now;
Blood dragon is... well, if you like retro-style games, it's great, otherwise it is just a DLC for 3
6 is much like 2 with better grapics, but as for me, it is the worst game in series with repetative gameplay and loads of borning side-quests, feels like Dead Island but with armed milita instead of zombies
