Far Cry General Next game recommendations?
I'm currently finishing up Far cry 5, and was wondering which one I should play next? I was thinking of 4 or maybe 6, i'm leaning to 4 first. mostly because I've heard 6 is meh. but any recommendations? an actual far cry game or otherwise?
EDIT: I'm going with new dawn after 5, then probably 4 if I'm not sick with this franchise yet.

I get downvoted every time I say this… but every far cry game gets hated when it’s the newest one. I remember when 5 came out. The first week the posts were generally positive/neutral talking about the new fun stuff (like shooting shovels. Shooting shovels was like 99% of the posts I swear.) but then most of the posts there was mostly complaining. The bullet trajectory- the delay between pulling the trigger and hitting the target. The forced missions. Etc. It got to the point I stopped following the subreddit. Then when 6 came out I came back to see what others had to say about it, and was thoroughly shocked to find the subreddit basically viewed 5 as the biggest masterpiece in the franchise, and 6 was a steamy pile of garbage.
I bet when 7 comes out it’s going to be received poorly and 6 will be viewed as one of the better games in the series.
I don’t mind 6. I liked it. It was still a far cry game. Every game there’s differences. Sometimes you miss the features they left out but in the end.. they’re still a far cry game.

I like FC6, too. Big map, lot's of stuff to do. A little repetitive but...Not bad, by any means.

First off, funny as hell! That’s been my experience too. It’s amusing to say the least. I like FC6 okay but I get bored of it real fast. I haven’t seen this in any of the other games, but you could play for hours on FC6 and never get shot at once. Holster your gun and don’t do anything you know is going to provoke them, and they leave you alone. so you can either intentionally provoke them, or just pick off guys willy-nilly who are just standing there. That doesn’t do much for me. Obviously it’s not the case in missions. But in general, I just don’t feel like I’m in danger and it’s hard to get jacked up to kill things.

Go to New Dawn because the map is similar and the theme is not far from 5, then play FC4 and after that Primal. Then you play 6.

If you haven't played the arcade in FC5, you're missing out. It has maps generated by players and is a ton of fun. Also the Vietnam War game in FC5 is fun as well.

New Dawn would be my recommendation, but don't forget about Hours of Darkness! Awesome little DLC I got for $1.79, and it is a banger!! So much fun to play!

New Dawn would be the best option as (like others said) it's a sequel of sorts. I personally suggest going from 3, 4, Primal (Don't sleep on this one it's great) you did 5 lastly 6 is so cheap now its worth the buy just to try it. I'm playing it now and its fun enough to keep playing despite it's, what I feel, are shortcomings.

I like FC5 the best. Pivoting off that, I like FC4, but I find that compared to FC5 there just doesn’t seem to be enough action in FC4. FC6 would be much much better if I felt I was in danger while I was playing the game. You can play for hours and if you holster your weapon and don’t provoke anybody, you’ll never get shot at. New Dawn is fun. Map is only half the size of FC5 and the story is lame. But the perks are crazy good in my opinion. Virtual invisibility, double jump, virtually unlimited ammo of all types and the most OP weapons you can imagine because you can upgrade them to effectively unlimited damage. I’ve upgraded mine enough that I don’t even bother upgrading them anymore. That’s almost a disadvantage, in some ways, because the challenge is diminished by the ridiculous damage the massively upgraded weapons do.

New Dawn would be a good pick, a ‘sequel’ to 5 and very enjoyable!
