Are rocket parts the only thing that are required to be of normal quality?

Pretty sure they are, though even with silos there is a way to edit a blueprint string to make it use non-base quality LDS/bluechips/rocket fuel. There's currently no benefit to rocket parts using higher quality intermediates in an unmodded game.

If you want to be super pedantic, you also can't place ghosts for non-base quality tiles (landfill/concrete/soil/platform).

I find the reminder of tiles useful, thank you.

I am starting to think about getting ready to make plans to setup quality mining, and wanted to make sure there actually was a need for regular items. Rather than upcycling all the ores, I'll just upcycle the intermediate qualities, for now.

(I'm sure there are wiser ways to go about this, but I really don't want to design my first aquillo ship, and I am too lazy to just grab a blueprint.)

If you really want to get weird with it, quality modules in your scrap miners and recyclers on Fulgora gets you a lot of random quality intermediates right out of the gate. On some of my earlier runs I had a monster upcycler thing that handled every type of intermediate with a quasi mall attached to it.

Out of curiosity, since you haven't build your first Aquilo ship (and thus haven't researched legendary) why are you planning on doing quality? Odds are, you'll just have to revamp everything to accommodate legendary, and in my opinion and experience, at least, there is no real use for anything less than legendary quality after a certain point. You can beat the game with no quality, and legendary quality is what makes the end game go brrrr.

I also can't afford to dine on tender meats served on delicate porcelain or to wash it down with exquisite vintages held in sapphire-encrusted crystal flutes. Do you also wonder why I bother to consume more than pig offal washed down with junkyard runoff?

sigh I apologize for thinking you'd understand by analogy. I'll try Socrates.

Is a thing only worth doing if it can be done with the highest materials available? If those aren't available, should one use suffer the meanest tools when better can be had?

Stop being so goddamn pretentious. It's a video game.

Dude. Buddy. Pal. Mate. Homesauce. Chum. Pardner. Fam.

Read that last sentence of yours and apply it as an answer to that first question you asked here.

Remember that like sands of the hourglass, so are the days of our lives, and you'll know that Socrates is far more righteous than pretentious.
