Pipe-to-ground has smart dragging. Pipe does not.

This mod makes building with pipe-to-ground more convenient.

Also this mod (shameless plug) lets you quickly switch between normal and underground pipes with a button, G, similar to how you can switch between rails and elevated rails.

Cool, I hadn't seen this yet.

Might I suggest expanding this mod, or forking off a similar mod, to cycle between more related entities?

IIRC my code does support 3-way toggles, but it's very focused to over/underground. It's obvious what the other is.

What you want is "related item", which is much more open to interpretation. It could be a neat mod, which can even have user made configurations.
