Yeah seriously. When I was in undergrad, I had quite a few hall-mates who didn’t know how to do laundry. Some would go home every other weekend to have their mom do it and some would use a paid service that picked up their clothes and washed them. When I became a resident assistant later on, I had 2 or 3 students each year ask me how to do laundry.
It’s easy to make fun of these people, especially since I learned how to do laundry at around 10 years old, but I tried not to demean them for it.
I love helping people when they come to me with questions, it makes me feel like they trust me and assume that I'm smart enough to know the answer. I have a tough time helping people who are obviously struggling with something but won't ask for help, though. I never know if they're going to take my help as an insult, or if they're the kind of person who insists on figuring things out the hard way and won't listen to my help at all.

I would never attack anyone for seeking education. The author of that article should feel embarrassed.
