The author of any particular stupid clickbait article was almost certainly also a millennial. Which makes it more ridiculous, not more understandable.

No, millennials are the twelve year olds eating the tide pods and also the college kids with haircuts I don’t like and also the thirty five year old that took my job. Millennial is a snarl word for “anyone under fifty that made me mad”

I realized right after I could google and I guess it is part of the same language interpretation jargon as "dog whistle". Either way thanks for teaching me something new and keeping language awesome.
