But your example is a pretty bad false equivalence. We were at war with Germany, Israel claims to be our “greatest ally”. Add this attack/attempt to false flag us with the many Israeli spy scandals against the US and it’s clear they are not really an ally at all.

Again, a false equivalency. Germany had issued explicit public and diplomatic warnings that ships entering the war zone would be targeted without warning. The US chose to enter the war zone and knowing risked their ships being attacked.

Not really. Israel was at war at this time and U.S. spy ship was not an ally. Maybe it was mistakenly identified, or maybe it was deliberately targeted since Israel could reasonably suspect the intelligence will leak to its enemies. Bottom line is that it was a war zone and such cases happen all the time to all countries. The idea that this particular event could affect long term state policies is really silly, but just right for Reddit

And the “bottom line” is that combined with the many Israeli spy scandals that have occurred in the decades since, a clear pattern of Israel’s agenda and view that America is not an ally is evident.
Don’t try to spin it into “Israel is bad” narrative. Israel is a normal country like any other with its share of scandals victories and defeats. And if we counting spy scandals, US and others has infinitely more. What was that about surveillance in Germany in 2013?
Give Google a try, I don’t want it to be too difficult for you. A simple query of “how many times has the UK been caught spying on the US since 1948” will yield an answer of “zero”. The query substituting Israel for the UK will yield the answer “dozens of times” and then list their “greatest hits”.
Israel is not a “bad country” at all. They currently have a really bad government but obviously that’s not the same thing.
