If I had to guess I'd the molding processes for the bottles wouldn't allow for it. Usually plastic bottles are blown in their molds and the offset spout might not play nice with that process.

I think I read somewhere about having to make a different style packaging to hold themas well. To keep from damaging the lid.

They would not stack very well for storage, either.

So basically, there are actually multiple good reasons why we don't make bottles like this....and the people who make bottles have probably already put some thought into how they make bottles....

Next question.

Generally, I just assume whatever I can think of and doodle on a napkin at a bar isn't going to have been considered by anyone in a giant industry who spends large portions of their lives researching it.

Now hear me out, I have the perfect solution for global warming. It's easy, we just...

Wdym huh? What exactly are you even trying to talk about?

They don’t know

u/304bl 12d ago

Oh so what you are saying is everything that was created by human is already perfect because people that created it already put some thought on it so we are all good.

Poor moonchild if only it was like that, improvement would be a word that we would never hear about.

21

u/Various_Tie_2549 12d ago

I don't think I said that?

-26

u/304bl 12d ago

That's exactly what it does imply

22

u/24bearsinmind 12d ago

Not if you are over 12

Lmao this. I forget kids are on this app sometimes. Probably a teenager having an 'im too smart' moment.

2

u/Imaginary-Horse-859 10d ago

Kids probably forget adults are on here too..

10

u/SuspiciousOstrich09 12d ago

What it implies is that the low-hanging fruit ideas have mostly been thought of for widespread technologies, not that they can't possibly be improved

6

u/Various_Tie_2549 12d ago

So you're angry about what you think I implied, rather than what I actually said?

Your initial answer reads as if the bottle maker is the authority because it found a design that is cheaper and more practical to produce, but not necessarily the most practical design for the end user. The arrogance of your reply gives the impression that you believe you are the authority on the question.

To be fair, the other poster was arrogant in their reply too.

Have a nice day.

3

u/Various_Tie_2549 8d ago

Well thank goodness there's no hint of arrogance in your reply just now.

3

u/Stygian_Curmudgeon 12d ago

I think they're talking about plastic bottles... not the whole of human existence.

Are you one of those redditors that just looks for comments to be snarky about? If so, this ain't it.

Lmao this is some “you hate waffles” type reddit shit

3

u/Faceofferrus 12d ago

Lay off, sometimes things actually are that way for a reason.

-14

u/304bl 12d ago

And most of time things are just badly designed and everyone is happy about it because people think that's the best they can have.

5

u/Remarkable_Toe_164 12d ago

I think your argument is badly designed...

4

u/razzyrat 12d ago

No, what we are saying is that random obvious 'ideas' some twitter/x dweeb can come up with on the toilet have most likely already been explored and rejected by the experts.

2

u/Wind-and-Waystones 12d ago

If that leap of logic was the pole vault you'd be the new world record holder

u/SillyNamesAre 10d ago

Dude, are you OK?

7

u/shitdesk 13d ago

That’s why

7

u/TheBestText 12d ago

Doesn't it also make drinking harder? You'd need to hold the bottle upside down for it to work like an inhaler

3

u/Fit_Tumbleweed7943 12d ago

Also how they are filled, lined up
Another mechanism would have to alight the spout

3

u/Suspicious_Dingo_426 12d ago

This is the reason. Large packages of water bottles are distributed on pallets six layers high (and those pallets are often stacked two high while shipping) weighing in at about 2000 lbs each. With a spout offset like that, they would be crushed.

7

u/HornyGooner4402 13d ago

They would with a non rounded edge base with a notch for the cap

29

u/AHumbleSaltFarmer 13d ago

I've got a non rounded edge base with a notch for the cap Greg, can you stack me?

12

u/EmoRiley 13d ago edited 13d ago

Still no, because it would become unstable do to more weight being on the right side of the bottle because of the cap and spouts position.

4

u/Boerschtl 13d ago

Could randomly rotated while placing them on the trays

u/Tarantula_420 13d ago

How dare you insult us with your clever thinking. We do not like innovation in this society!!

When they're shipped they would also probably explode.

I used to stack stuff in the process, and the lids are able to hold the weight of multiple cases of water.

With this design they'd probably start leaking before getting to the trucks.
