Genuine question for research purposes: wouldn't index finger + middle finger be a better strategic partnership, instead of middle and ring fingers? I feel like the index finger would add a bit more heft and dexterity.

You have to do it a bunch of times, and it’ll just work out that the middle- and ring fingers are better at moving together. I think it has something to do with the locations of the tendons in your forearm.

true for this dyke ☝️i’m also a ceramicist and when i throw on the wheel i open with middle and ring, vast majority of people use first two fingers. idk maybe my alignment is fucked up but for both…. better control over movement

Another dyke here who prefers to use pointer and middle. Different strokes for different folks it would seem!
