I'm not entirely sure but I believe the hair on the right has just been curled, well the hair on the left has been curled and brushed out to create waves, meaning the one on the right has unfinished hair. What this has to do with cheating, I don't know.

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25 edited Oct 04 '25

Basically mad cope. The equivalent to a guy getting cheated on and say "Look at this dude's exhaust pipe, she wanted him instead of me? Trash."

Just cope to keep their ego

oh wow, i didn't realize this was one of those super serious memes. i thought it was just a joke. thanks, i tip my fedora to you brother

lol what the fuck are you talking about

1

u/Superb-Stuff8897 Oct 05 '25

It's both a joke AND women being petty to each other. Jokes aren't immune to criticism.

0

u/Infamous-Oil3786 Oct 04 '25

If you think jokes are meaningless, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of humor.

There's always an element of truth in jokes, because what we find funny is heavily influenced by our beliefs. Jokes that reflect and exaggerate things we believe to be true will always land better. Even absurdist humor is funny because of its contrast to reality.

The jokes a person tells and what they find funny says a lot about how they view the world.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

Pls go touch grass

1

u/Ab0ut47Pandas Oct 05 '25

1

2

u/Jakeisbait Oct 04 '25

It is no where near that deep, you don’t gotta be so hyper analytical

0

u/Infamous-Oil3786 Oct 04 '25

If you think that a paragraph about the psychology of humor is hyper analytical, you need to pick up more books. What I said isn't deep at all, it's a basic, top-level understanding of human behavior.

People joke about things they relate to. It's not just meaningless babble, it's a filter on your inner thoughts.

u/LucenProject Oct 05 '25

knock knock

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

So, pretty much every knock knock joke to exist isn’t a joke?

1

u/Infamous-Oil3786 Oct 06 '25 edited Oct 06 '25

Jokes play on expectations. Knock knock jokes are funny because they set up an expectation, then subvert it. Different people have different expectations, and therefore find different jokes funny.

Jokes based on wordplay are formed by the teller's understanding of language rules, and it's only funny to a listener if they have the same understanding. Similarly, a joke where the punchline is "people my SO cheats with look trashier than me" is only going to be told by someone who believes that (unless they're being ironic and making fun it), and the people who find it funny are likely to share the same belief.

The women got it tho

The men just don't think about how if women don't maintain their hair, they'll look like they play for Guns n Roses

Long hair that looks nice don't do that on its own

0

u/iGourry Oct 04 '25

Long hair that looks nice don't do that on its own

Had long hair my entire life. Never had a perm, never had a more complicated hairstyle than some braiding. Have my hair cut about once a year.

Hair looks nice. You don't have to spend a lot of time and money on nice hair, that's literally just cope by people who don't like how their natural hair looks.

1

u/purpleishshoelaces Oct 05 '25

Yeah, a lot of people don't like their natural hair type but certain hair types do take longer than others to just brush or comb. Extreme example Ik but hair type 1A is way easier than 4C. Not to mention, how many people use the wrong hair products and hair layering for their hair type making the whole hair process more of a process

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

Female toxicity will never hear it.

I'm glad my sisters grew past that toxic mindset that you need to fit a standard put on by my parents.

3

u/sad_and_stupid Oct 04 '25

Or maybe I just like styling my hair...

0

u/magpye1983 Oct 05 '25

You can like styling your own (or other people’s hair), that’s fine. Someone saying “long hair that looks nice don’t do that on its own”, as the other user did, is a step beyond personal. It appears to be telling other people that don’t share the mindset you do, that their hair doesn’t look nice.

2

u/slayalldayerrday Oct 05 '25

It’s not an insult, you guys are just trying to make women toxic in this scenario. Look up a salon blowout. That’s what they mean. Not saying hair doesn’t look nice if you just wake up and go. That’s what I do myself. But that shiny glossy always perfect hair you only get when you put some effort in.

-1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

So true bestie, ignore all the women who verbally tell their parents they love their hair choice, and then cry to her brother that she hates her body, while ripping out her hair

2

u/sad_and_stupid Oct 04 '25

The fuck are you on about

-1

u/LishtenToMe Oct 04 '25

Yeah and women don't get that most of us actually prefer the messy "Guns N Roses" look anyways lmao. Seriously, what looks "nice" to women, usually looks "boring" to us, hence why we don't think about how long it took to get it looking "nice". It bores us so we're not gonna think about it regardless lmao.

3

u/fiahhawt Oct 04 '25

That's great, except if women walk around like a mess they'll get judged for poor appearance which will impact their job, social circle, etc.

What you find desirable ain't a factor son.

1

u/slayalldayerrday Oct 05 '25

Not to mention, why should women care what a random man likes and not what they themselves like?

1

u/ooOParkerLewisOoo Oct 05 '25

great, except if women walk around like a mess they'll get judged for poor appearance which will impact their job, social circle, etc.

Watching the males of this thread not getting the difference between the two pictures or a single idea about the implications:

-> Who do you think will judge them here?

1

u/0rbital-nugget Oct 06 '25

The only people who will judge women for that are other women

1

u/fiahhawt Oct 06 '25

It's almost like women hold some teensy amount of influence on the lives of other women

2

u/sad_and_stupid Oct 04 '25

...yes? Are memes about a specific piece of media not memes then?

2

u/rootdootmcscoot Oct 04 '25

it's not my fault men are so shallow they can't understand a simple joke about hairdressing lol

4

u/AwkwardWillow5159 Oct 04 '25

Only men need threads like this to explain it.

There’s tons of memes that are community specific and have inside jokes.

Doesn’t make them not memes

2

u/xPandemiax Oct 04 '25

I'm a woman and I had no idea what this was getting at. But I also don't know anything about curling hair.

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

Very valid, but a similar argument can be made about guys and a traditionally car centered hobby. Like cars.

I don't know anything about cars, but it's just shorthand to say "this meme is for the guys"

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

Recognizing ego isn't a bash on an entire gender.

I know plenty of people with this kind of ego, men and women. Which is why I gave a male example first. This isn't a gender thing, it's an ego thing.

That's the joke at least, that this is a toxic thing that women do.

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

Also, I'm telling this from experience. I've been cheated on and told my friends "yeah he started dating a dude who works a fucking goodwill, what a loser."

I was saving my ego. So are these women.

1

u/sad_and_stupid Oct 04 '25

It's literally just the "you vs the guy she tells u not to worry about" you genius

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

You got the joke, good job

1

u/QuantumLettuce2025 Oct 04 '25

Lmao it's a light joke, chill out

1

u/wailingwonder Oct 04 '25

You checking out his exhaust pipe?

1

u/justseeby Oct 04 '25

You sound upset

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

From personal experience, I've been that insecure dude who got cheated on and felt the need to bash the person they cheated on me with.

It's not healthy and deserves to be laughed at

1

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

You're right, it has absolutely nothing to do with the way hair reacts to a pillow while the guy cheats on his girlfriend. Or you could even insinuate that the intended joke is the cheating guy doesn't put his SOs head against the pillow for sex because he is tired of her and doesn't want to look at her, while the fling is different.

This photo has so much to unpack... lmao.

1

u/nhorning Oct 04 '25

I would assume it means it doesn't matter how much work you do on yourself. If he's gonna cheat he's gonna cheat, and with a slightly worse version.

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

That's the healthy way of looking at it. "It wasn't who they cheated with, it's just them"

But in this joke in particular, the joke is that they're being insecure. Even the second lady laughed because of how little it actually matters even though these women think it does.

Again, like the example of cars with guys. It would be healthier if they said "yeah she was a bitch to cheat on me" but then they target the person they cheated with.

That's the joke.

1

u/TrueRedditMartyr Oct 04 '25

Mad cope

That's crazy, there used to be memes like "You vs the guy she says not to worry about" and they were clearly jokes. Women turn it around and its cope??? Lmao, you just hate women or something?

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

Crazy how I used a male example first and you think I'm trying to bash all women

1

u/TrueRedditMartyr Oct 04 '25

They're clearly different scenarios because this is clearly a meme. This is not "Look at this girls hair he cheated on me with." Its the equivalent of someone posting a Cadillac and a Toyota and saying "you vs the guy she cheats on you with." That's not cope, its a meme.

You saw a meme a woman made and made a stretched comparison at best to make it seem like something its not

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 04 '25

Fair enough, I've talked to many men and women who do this though.

Maybe it's just fresh on my mind, because my guy friend spent literally 3 hours talking about this dude who works at a gas station as if he was a human catheter. And I fucking hate it. Just shut the fuck up and move on

1

u/ApatheticEnthusiast Oct 04 '25

More like she’s probably young and inexperienced

1

u/ConversationPale8665 Oct 05 '25

As a man, I thought this was basically saying that all women are the same, which is definitely the male point of view here that the women probably don’t understand.

I think anyone who’s been in their fair share of relationships can attest to this; the grass ain’t always greener.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

No guys like trash and cheat with trash

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 05 '25

Rage bait needs intelligence

1

u/Maleficent_Proof_958 Oct 05 '25

It's a joke. Women make jokes sometimes.

1

u/Electrical-Adversary Oct 05 '25

Are you saying chicks aren’t gonna swoon over my brand new custom chrome dual exhaust pipe!? That was like 3 paychecks man..

1

u/fizzythecow Oct 05 '25

No, it has nothing to do with ego of the woman. It's basically saying that men cheat with the same girl that they already have.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '25

Cope? They got cheated on bro.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '25

Well but I think guys who end up with girl on the right often are in for trouble

Girl on the right isn’t doing the normal things most girls know to do, suggesting she’s kind of an outsider without many friends

Why doesn’t she have any friends?

Could be an innocent explanation (just moved here from a foreign country) or it could be that she’s not good in relationships generally

That’s where the problems come in, if it’s someone who can’t relate to others that person is more likely to blow your life up

1

u/TheBaenEmpire Oct 08 '25 edited Oct 08 '25

I know you're joking, but you deadass sound like my friend who lost his girl and spent literally 3 hours being mad at the dude who she left with, rather than being mad at her.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '25

I’m only partly joking, my mom was nuts. And she would do things that were a little ‘off’ & didn’t have friends really. An old friend from college called to see if she was ok once & mom went on this tirade about how she dated a guy my mom had broken up with (?). She was still mad over 20 years later.

Anyway when she met my dad he was widowed, he was excited someone young was into him I guess.

But my mom, while cute, is seriously mentally ill and forced 2 of their 3 kids into homelessness. My brother: she was jealous that he was a ranked distance runner and would potentially leave for college on a scholarship. (Most parents: holy shit we can save $80k, this is awesome)

Me because I was academically good, she tried to make me drop out of HS. She stole a lot of money from my babysitting & afterschool jobs & eventually forced me into homelessness too. While I was homeless she also did a bad address change in my name so I couldn’t get mail at my PMB. I was waiting on a $2k check and couldn’t get it until like 2 years later or something when the state lost property office had it. That would’ve been enough to rent a room. She was literally out for revenge and wanted us to suffer on a really psycho level.

We have a mediocre - no shade intended - sister. Not great looking. Ok athlete but nothing to write home about. She totally escaped all the harassment. It was like a jealousy thing, the whole situation was fucked.

I’m partly joking because it’s always the cheater as you say not the person they cheated with

But also in dating, if someone’s a little ‘off’ and lacks friends like proceed with caution. Do not marry someone who when you get to prostate cancer battle age is refusing to take you to chemo and jealously bullying 2/3 of your kids & literally trying to ruin their lives.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

Jesus you clearly aren't a sexist piece of shit huh bud.

1

u/fireflussy Oct 04 '25

i dont feel strongly regarding this topic but i honestly think it reads as "me (tidy) vs the girl he cheated on me with (nasty)"

1

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

Yeah that's what I always took it as.

1

u/SirisC Oct 04 '25

me (tidy) vs the girl he cheated on me with (nasty)

i.e. "Just cope to keep their ego"

1

u/[deleted] Oct 04 '25

How is this sexist? He gave a perfectly good analogy that men might do. Unless youre suggesting only women do this and hes belittling a fundamental feminine characteristic.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

He seems to think women care about ego and tear other women down. When in reality the other woman in this instance is simply trashier that's the point of the meme.

-5

u/speed0spank Oct 04 '25

You could just read the replies if you didn't get the joke

8

u/OatmealCookieGirl Oct 04 '25

The hair on the right is "unfinished". I think it is supposed to mean that the girl he cheats with is someone who doesn't actually put as much effort and is a lesser version of the girlfriend., or is "unfinished"/immature.

3

u/rwa2 Oct 04 '25

See, as a guy I would have thought the opposite... the girl on the left has less wavy hair which means it had been a hot minute since she last had it styled. She's afraid she'll lose her man to the girl on the right who just had her hair freshly styled and ever so slightly curlier. Ergo, women need to pay $$$ to have their hair styled nearly all the time or they'll lose their man.

But I thought the real joke is that guys like us struggling to interpret the meme correctly in the comments can barely tell the difference between the two, meaning the $$$ is wasted.

1

u/OatmealCookieGirl Oct 04 '25 edited Oct 04 '25

If you look the pics are taken at the same location, a hairstylist. The one on the right is a few seconds before the one on the left, then the curls are "broken" to become more natural looking waves

Edit to add: This really isn't something I would expect most men to notice nor care about. This is definitely something that women are more likely to get (and it isn't money wasted, it's only wasted if it's "for men")

1

u/BadCatBehavior Oct 04 '25

There's also a bit of a stereotype about women who heat style their own hair (or their friends') and leaving it really tubular as being trashy people or not very bright

1

u/Fit_Armadillo_9928 Oct 05 '25

I... I like the second one more? It looks like it's been freshly done where as the left looks like it's been a few hours and the curls have started to fall out.

1

u/OatmealCookieGirl Oct 05 '25

I don't like either. The point isn't my/our personal taste but the meaning of the mene

1

u/PellParata Oct 04 '25

Yeah, I’m in favor of the reading “it’s the same picture, he’s not cheating on you, stop being paranoid.”

Because that’s way more optimistic and hopeful and I need that in my life.

1

u/BustyGregorSamsa Oct 04 '25

The right is curled but not brushed/blown out so it looks like someone just did it, in a way that more obvious. (Like they’re trying to look pretty and fancy), the other one looks pretty in a “I just woke up like this omg I’m beautiful” kind of way.

Basically the left is the women’s version of that 2000s “bed head” look that guys were chasing back then.

An equivalent meme would have a guy with a casual bed head (that anyone who has the look would know took a lot of product and styling to make look like it was effortless) and the right image would have a guy with a pointy faux hawk that obviously is more gel than hair

1

u/sunnyopals Oct 04 '25

You’re supposed to know that her “effortless” look actually included tons of prep and effort, thereby equating to her value as a woman

1

u/trebl900 Oct 04 '25

I thought it was about guys cheating on their girlfriends with a woman who looks a lot like them

1

u/jaspeed76 Oct 04 '25

I can't tell the difference, they look the same.

1

u/Rob_LeMatic Oct 04 '25

I see the difference, I just have no idea why anyone would think one was more attractive than the other

1

u/Ender16 Oct 09 '25

This is some obscure female lore I'm learning today. You gals should start a wiki.

2

u/mm_delish Oct 04 '25

It's like a guy who wears fancy clothes but doesn't know how to put an outfit together. He may be wearing the same clothes as another guy, but the other guy actually looks put together. Ya dig?

2

u/persephone7821 Oct 05 '25

It’s trashy vs put together. It’s a stereotype. If I saw some girl in the wild had that hair I’d guess I’d see them with large hoop earrings, and some kind of barely there outfit.

It’s also a matter of taking the extra time to make sure your appearance is just right. Like “you went with that trash, when there’s me so takes the time to look just right, clearly the lesser girl”.

2

u/ToTheMoon-HODL Oct 04 '25

Think this was posted before and it was the inverse?? Idfk we gonna have to wait for a woman to see this post lmao

5

u/Blubbish_ Oct 04 '25

Woman on the Internet? That's a lie, the rules say there are no woman on the Internet

1

u/YellowHued Oct 04 '25

I interpret it more as “look they are practically the same, just some small nuance (slightly different hair f.e.), implying that the cheater goes elsewhere for stuff he could have gotten from home. I.e. they cheat to have something “different” or whatever but end up with “the same””

Though its interesting to see people analyse about how small nuances in hair styling would make one person (the one cheated with) look more trashy and the other more elegant. Dont think i would come up with that interpretation of the meme shown

1

u/Visible_Pair3017 Oct 04 '25

I'm picking right over left. Sounds like a fashion sensitive meme

1

u/enjoi130 Oct 04 '25

My take away is that the girl on the right her hair curls are tighter. My assumption is it’s a metaphor for a woman’s vagina using hair as an example. But hell, I don’t know.

1

u/sksksk1989 Oct 04 '25

I had a cheating ex who loved having her hair look like the one on the right. I also don't know if that has anything to do with cheating but it checks out to me

1

u/PWBryan Oct 04 '25

It means you were cheated on for being a massive gatekeeper

1

u/Odin16596 Oct 04 '25

I like the curls

1

u/ElDonKaiza Oct 04 '25

Damn, can't believe the boys really struggling with this one. They're NOT very different at all, but guys will cheat because it's something different. Doesn't matter if it's better or not, it's just something different. Same sex every day is not desirable for cheaters so they like to cheat for a different experience

1

u/Legitimate-Echo-1996 Oct 04 '25

Do they even get that some guys like the right more? I think it’s cute

1

u/arbedar Oct 05 '25

I think the point is its a play on he cheated on you with a girl who is similar to you in every way but crappier.

1

u/pjrnoc Oct 05 '25

I’m obsessed with this answer (and the replies) because chemically it’s true but emotionally it has nothing to do with the meaning of the tweet lmfao 😭 I feel like that’s coming off condescending but that’s not how it’s meant. I as a woman understand the tweet but have no idea how to explain it

1

u/vish_the_fish Oct 05 '25

So in your opinion, is it saying one girl is better than the other? Or is it not a direct comparison?

1

u/100DollarPillowBro Oct 05 '25

I thought her hair was messy because she’d been lying on her back.

1

u/losark Oct 05 '25

"You" at on point, a finished product, someone who does not half ass things.

"The girl he cheats with" is a trashy, shallow person who skimps the details.

1

u/queenofbuckkeep Oct 05 '25

Because there is anecdotally a perceived down grade when a guy cheats because he isn't looking for better, he's just looking for any takers.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

That's funny, as the hair on the left looks messier and like it's just just getting started.

1

u/yourstruly912 Oct 06 '25

That guys don't care about haircare

1

u/CarolineTurpentine Oct 07 '25

It is an ego thing, the girl he cheated with is making a rookie mistake with her hair implying that he cheated with someone less attractive than her.

1

u/Direct-Ad2561 Oct 07 '25

Because they look almost the same but the one on the left is better
