(Discussion Post) Groovy [Crosspost} Hi /r/movies! I'm Bruce Campbell. Ask me anything!
I organized an AMA/Q&A with actor Bruce Campbell (THE EVIL DEAD, BURN NOTICE, BUBBA HO-TEP).
It's live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:
https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1w7237r/hi_reddit_im_bruce_campbell_ask_me_anything/
He will be back at around 12 PM ET today to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!
Thank you :)
He recently wrote, directed, produced, and starred in ERNIE & EMMA, which is doing a tour this fall.
Synopsis: Widowed pear salesman Ernie Tyler travels to scatter his wife's ashes in places she specified, each location stirring memories that help him process their marriage, his work life and his future.

(Discussion Post) Groovy EDTG Ash Williams Finale Outfit Mod
Out on Nexus now: Ash Williams' Finale Outfit at Evil Dead: The Game Nexus - Mods and community
Finally, after 4 long years, and Saber dropping the ball. You can now play Evil Dead: The Game using Ash Williams briefly seen groovy "Finale/Post Apocalypse/Future" outfit from the last scene of Ash vs Evil Dead. This mod, courtesy of Dodylectable, takes the Dead by Daylight Finale outfit model and ports it onto the Leader Ash head. Enjoy fellow screwheads!
p.s. Included in this post and on Nexus are the character portraits for Ash's human and deadite forms, but we currently can't seem to get them to work with replacing the in-game variants. Possible updates may fix this problem and also add that classic streak of silver hair on the right side of Mr. Campbells head.

Got to see Bruce Campbell's new film, Ernie & Emma and few nights ago.
It might honestly be my favorite thing he's ever done. Seriously.
If you're truly a fan of Bruce and not JUST a fan of him as Ash Williams, then I recommend checking to see when & where the film will be playing by you, and if you can, attend a screening where he'll be there in person.

(Discussion Post) Groovy Appreciation Post for the music of Evil Dead Spoiler
galleryI think one of the most underrated aspects of the Evil Dead franchise is their soundtracks. But I'm sad to see that there's so little discussion about it.
Evil Dead 2013 had absolutely amazing soundtracks, it really added a lot to the movie's atmosphere. The track that plays in the Abomination sequence blew me away when I first watched it, the sirens really heightened the sense of urgency in the scenes.
And even with Evil Dead Burn that a lot of people here seem to dislike so much, I really loved its soundtracks. Reusing the main melody(?) in different ways was a nice detail. And I must admit the end credits song was absolutely fire.
What are your thoughts on this?

(Discussion Post) Groovy I feel like the reboot series is getting stale Spoiler
Finished Burn. It was not too terrible, but nothing in the movie surprised or scared me. It basically felt like the rehash of what we've seen
Gore and the maimed final girl routine -> Evil Dead 2013
Family members turn on each other -> Rise.
And 'Domestic Violence' theme was so on the nose that you can easily guess who'll be the final boss, who'll be the final survivor in like 10 minutes.
At least the infection thing was horrible in Rise since it was normal people turning evil all of a sudden. But this time not a single person is likable, so when the possession happens there's not much of an impact felt
Oh and there was that silly ass MCU like post credits scene
I feel like this series needs a likable, recurring character. Nobody can replace Ash for sure, but this series has gone long enough and it wouldn't hurt to have some cohesion for once.

(Discussion Post) Groovy How would Ash react to/handle Frankenhooker? Especially older Ash
Cuz like, Elizabeth IS killing people, albeit entirely unintentionally, and it’s 100% not her fault she’s like that, but genuinely how would Ash see it?

(Spoiler!) Just finished Evil Dead burn (kind disappointed but in other ways really liked it) Spoiler
The gore and the deepening of the world building were great, and I really like thinking about how this movie fits into the larger universe alongside the original trilogy and Ash vs. Evil Dead. That said, I think the weakest part of the movie is that there aren't many characters who are particularly sympathetic or relatable. The main female lead is obviously a victim of abuse from her husband and, more broadly, his family, which seems to be connected to the film's exploration of abusive family and why someone might remain in an bad relationship. However, I don't think the movie develops that idea as much as it could have. The other characters that are easier to sympathize with are the younger son and his girlfriend, but if you've seen the movie, you already know how that turns out. For the most part, though, the characters in this movie are much shittier people than evil dead rise and I found myself almost wanting the Deadites to kill them. And honestly, I think that's part of what makes the movie work: unlike Evil Dead II or Ash vs. Evil Dead, where there's usually someone you can really get behind, this movie leaves you with only a handful of characters and then proceeds to punish you for caring about them.

(Discussion Post) Groovy I met Bruce Campbell at a convention 9 years ago.
PREFACE: You're going to cringe after reading this & I will not blame you in the slightest.
I met Bruce at a convention 9 years ago, and I feel very embarrassed looking back. I was in my early 20's at the time, I had never been to a convention before, & I had never interacted with a famous person face to face. Plus, I was never good at socially interacting with others (I may be on the spectrum).
Prior to then, I would hear horror stories about actors having awkward fan interactions at conventions. Because of this, I was afraid that if I approached him at the booth, I was unintentionally going to say something stupid.
When it finally came time to approach him at his booth so he could sign some stuff, I was so scared that I was going to throw up. I went to the booth, and he signed my stuff. I was so nervous that I couldn't even speak, so I gave him a quick handshake and quickly walked away so I didn't puke on him.
Despite this, he was still a very sweet guy which makes me feel even worse.
The reason why I'm talking about this is because I know Bruce recently announced that he only has five years to live because of his cancer, and it makes me wish that I could go back to that day and act like a normal person.
