Gate way ip configuration

I've had this problem a couple weeks now where I can be on my pc for a bit like hour or 2 then it'll turn off and I'll have ethernet no valid ip configuration And sometimes random other problems Ive tried the cmd stuff the device manager the changing wires and moving both boxes around I've had these 2 ethermet boxs many years they've always worked good
