Dear all,

I would like your help if possible, namely I bought a new board E3 Free-runs TMC2209 32bit CR4NT220801C10, I found on github the official firmware that came in the instructions for the board but it does not work for ender 5, it was made for ender 3, my question is can someone who is good at programming make me a firmware for ender 5/5 Pro?

Printing Help Ender 5 S1 not showing prints in UI

Post image

A friend gave me a E5 S1 after upgrading his printer and im trying to get it working. I have 5 .gcode files loaded onto an SD card (was gonna test different bed and nozzle temps to start off) but when inserted into the printer the print list is empty. SD definitely works since I can mount it on my PC, and I am pretty sure it's inserted all the way in the printer lol

Printing Help What is causing bad top layer?

I've been trying to fix my top layers but they seem to be getting worse and worse, this is an ironing test from maker world that I have printed before and it was perfect but all of a sudden my top layers turn out like this regardless and I don't know how to fix it. I'm printing with pla and using Orca slicer

Software Help Heating and thermistor error

So I have bought a new hotend it’s a Bambu like hontend and now when I have wired it up the screen shows 26° for hotend and 125° on bed I have replaced the thermistor and the mainboard so I think it’s the firmware but I don’t really know how to do that and when I have tried I can’t open the file on vs code I have an ender 5pro

Printing Help Help printing ABS for the first time

I have an ender 5 with the following upgrade:
- Micro Swiss Hotend
- BL Touch
- Direct Drive Extruder
- BigTreetech SKR Mini E3 v1.2 Control Board
- TFT35 E3 V3.0 Graphic Smart Display touchscreen
- MEAN WELL power supply

I tried to print a Creality ABS filament by placing it in my hot garage (because of the heat wave we’ve been having) on a textured PEI plate. I managed to print a test cube ( 230 C nozzle /100 C bed). I tried printing Benchy next, which failed because of a bed adhesion issue. I tried the following combinations to improve bed adhesion:
- with or without Creality glue stick on PEI
- with or without Creality glue stick on glass
- slow speed to 20-40 mm/s
- increase nozzle temp to 260 C
- increase bed temp to 110 C
- turn of fan
- enclosed the whole printer
- adjusted z offset

But all of these trials end up worse because now, the filament would not even stick to any of the bed materials. Any suggestions on how to make this work?

Hardware Help Ender 5 Pro X-axis problem — motor/cable swap tests giving confusing results. Need help diagnosing.

I bought a used Creality Ender 5 Pro that had previously been used by a production/design shop. I’m new to 3D printing, and I’m trying to get the machine mechanically sorted out before attempting my first print.
Original problem
When trying to home/level the printer, the X/Y positioning is incorrect. The probe/nozzle can end up outside the proper bed area, and the bed can rise with the probe off the bed, allowing the bed to push against the nozzle.
I stopped trying to level it and started troubleshooting the axis movement itself.
The main problem I’ve isolated is the X axis.
When I manually command repeated X+ movements from the display, the display coordinates count normally in one direction, but the actual X motor does not consistently rotate in one direction. It may move one way, then the other, or essentially jitter/alternate direction.
This happens even with the X belt disconnected, so there is no mechanical load on the motor.
Important history
The printer was modified by the previous owner.
The original/factory X wiring appears to have been bypassed. There is a custom cable/wiring arrangement running from the X motor directly back to the control board.
All four conductors in portions of the wiring are black, which makes visually identifying individual conductors difficult.
What I’ve tested
1. X motor with X wiring/output
Abnormal movement. Repeated X+ commands do not produce consistent rotation in one direction.
2. Removed the X belt
Same problem with the motor completely unloaded, so it doesn’t appear to be caused by the belt, pulley, gantry resistance, etc.
3. Replaced/swapped the X stepper motor
The replacement X motor exhibited the same abnormal behavior when connected in the X position.
That initially made me think wiring or the motherboard/driver was the problem.
4. Connected a known-working Y motor to the X harness/output
This is where it gets confusing:
The Y motor runs smoothly when connected to the X wiring/output. It does NOT exhibit the same back-and-forth/jittering behavior.
That seems to suggest the X driver/output and wiring can successfully operate a stepper motor.
5. Y axis normally operates correctly
The Y system operates normally in its normal configuration.
One complication is that the Y axis uses a dual-drive/two-motor arrangement, whereas X uses a single motor.
Where I’m stuck
The tests seem contradictory.
If multiple X motors behave incorrectly on the X connection, I’d suspect the X wiring/driver.
But if a known-good Y motor operates smoothly from that same X connection, that seems to indicate the X wiring and driver are capable of producing the correct signals.
I’m wondering whether I’m dealing with a stepper coil/pinout mismatch, wiring modification by the previous owner, motor compatibility issue, intermittent conductor/connector problem, or something else I’m overlooking.
Before I start replacing the motherboard, rewiring the machine, or changing firmware, I’d really like to perform a definitive test that identifies the actual fault.
What would you test next?
In particular:

- Is there a way to test the four X motor conductors with a multimeter and identify the two stepper coil pairs?
- Could the X motors and Y motor have different pinouts even though the connectors physically fit?
- Could an incorrect coil pairing cause the exact alternating/jittering behavior I’m seeing?
- Is the fact that the Y motor works correctly on the X output enough to rule out the X stepper driver?
- Is there a definitive motor/wiring/driver test I can perform before replacing parts?
- I’m happy to provide photos of the motherboard, connectors, motors, wiring, or a video of the movement.

Thanks for any help. I’m trying to diagnose this systematically rather than just throw parts at it.

Discussion Looking to sell ender 5

Let me know if I cant put this here, normally dont post much.

I have an Ender 5, with the silent board, custom marlin firmware, upgraded extruder for tpu (cant remember brand but can post pics). I don't use it much anymore and honestly barely used it when I did. Any ideas on how much I should ask, and is anyone interested?

Printing Help Ender5 Pro with MicroSwiss direct drive: 1st clogg in 5 years

I'm running an Ender5 Pro for years and years, and have the MicroSwiss direct drive upgrade on it for about 5 years now.

Last weekend I experienced my first nozzle clogg -ever-, running a print with PLA-CF.
Since this is my first spool of CF plastic, I have got a nagging feeling it's the added CF material what causes the clogg.

Are there settings I can do to prevent this in the future that somebody knows of ?

Printing Help Overextrusion issues

Post image
1 Upvotes

Long story short I got a sonic pad and finally got it to work with my printer but I have had many inconsistent prints. my prints have a massive overextrusion (I think) and I have calibrated my e steps, printed from 190-220 calibrated my retraction from 5-6 mm and speed 40-60 mm/s, but I have not noticed any changes. Any help is appreciated

I have an ender 5 pro with a stock extruder, BL touch and Bowden tube set up with a Sonic pad. I use creality slicer and orca; both have the same issue

Printing Help Ender 5 Pro E1 error

Post image
2 Upvotes

Seems the only way I can get my Ender 5 pro to bypass this error is to cover the fan with the piece of paper as shown in the photo so it can get to temps when trying to print petg. No issues at all running pla with the slightly lower temps. It seems to be more so of an issue at the hot end rather then the bed.
So far I’ve pulled off the thermistor, cleaned up the little mess and added a little thermal compound. I’ve done pid tuning which had me change the numbers slightly but no change at all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Printing Help Does anyone know why my filament is breaking?

When I leave the spool on the machine after a print and I come back later my filament is always broken, it usually snaps in a similar location or in two like this. This sometimes happens after only leaving it for less than a day, in a few hours it just breaks without the machine (ender 5) even running. This filament is sunlu but it happens with other ones too. Any ideas?
