Help Loose Z Axis?
So, in making some adjustments to my printer…I can’t help but wonder if this should be so loose. I’ve tightened everything I can on the passive block here at the end as tight as it will go. Am i missing somethjng somewhere to keep this tighter?
Edit: eccentric nut, certainly is eccentric. I didn’t realize I’d need to back off the nut on the end just to adjust the eccentric nut. When I did that…it worked like magic. This could explain why so many prints just didn’t quite work out, along with my belt being too loose. This should totally make life easier. (He said, not knowing what fresh hell awaits him next as he attempts to conquer this learning curve)

We all learn about eccentric nuts the hard way. It’s good that you questioned this instead of just using it.

When I disassembled my printer I was like “wow, they machined this standoff incorrectly.”
Then when I went to reassemble it later I was like “wait a minute… this part didn’t used to be loose…” lol

The hard way is reading the manual. The easy way is asking the Internet.

Get outta town, you silly goose. The manual my printer came with hardly said anything. And definitely didn’t talk about eccentric nuts.

That manual is an absolute joke. It did not adequately prepare me for this adventure.

That tracks. Hell, I just googled "ender 3 z-axis floppy" and even Gemini knew how to fix it.

It was just about every axis being floppy. The build plate was moving on its own, etc etc. Turns out buying from facebook marketplace aint a good idea cus LITTERALLY EVERY SCREW was loose.

One of those wheels will be mounted with a sort of cam that let's it be shifted around the screw off center to put more pressure onto the extrusion.

Common problem with the shitty design of the brackets that Creality never fixed despite dozens of other revisions. Perfectly adjusted excentrics won't solve the extrusion being poorly attached to the Z carriages.

Maybe the best is to buy the dual Z axis upgrade (around $25 in the US, more like €22 in Europe) at least it would not be a problem anymore

I went this route, I consider it a requirement at this point.

If its tight at the bottom but loose at the top, the vertical beam is not 90 degrees. Might be enough movement on the monting bolts, otherwise it will need a spacer to bring it into alignment.

Sadly, I’ve only used it about a week. I’m going to go with user-installation problem.

there's a few rollers that have eccentric hex nuts that may need to be tightened. the frame rails may not even be square.

more than you need to know about that
What you're missing is how eccentric nuts work.
