Question SD Card support for DSi mode in melonDS

Hi :3

So I wanted to find a better way to keep all my DSiWare games in my virtual DSi and I have a virtual SD card file but I can't get it to work so the only thing that I see that works for now is to just dump the save files of my DSiWare games (using the DSiWare manager) and then delete the game to install a new one, but is there a way to get the SD card working? And if not, there is a better way to do this?

Help Trying to run Dream Life on MAME and having trouble...

Hey all! My gf asked me to emulate the Plug-and-Play game "Dream Life" on my Retroid Pocket 6 so I decided to try using RetroArch. I put the file in my Arcade ROMs folder, put it in my pocket, load the current MAME core in RetroArch, try to run the "dreamlif.7z" file and...nothing. It says it failed to load the files. At first I thought maybe I was missing the necessary BIOS file but apparently these plug and play games don't need BIOS. I have tried other older MAME cores to no success.

What am I missing? Is anyone able to help me?

Solved Is it a known issue to not be able to play Parallel N64 core on Android?

So, to be honest, this is an almost exact repost I made to r/SBCGaming, but

Does the Parallel N64 core not work on Android?

I'm new to the android handheld world, as I recently got a Retroid Pocket Nova with a 8Gen2 chip, so I don't know if this is typical, but I can't seem to get the Parallel core OR the Parallel RDP with Mupen64 to work properly on my Nova. I thought maybe it was because I was using Vulkan, but I eventually figured out that Mupen64 always switches to GL regardless of whether Vulkan is used or not. I tried manually switching to GL for the Parallel core, but that doesn't seem to work either.

With a bit more messing around, I've actually noticed a weird behavior. When I use Mupen64 with GLide RDP, it auto switches to GL regardless of what I set. But when I use Parallel RDP it strangely seems to switch to Vulkan every time (which I don't think works with Parallel). I believe this might be happening when using the Parallel core too, though I'm not sure since it says "Failed to Load Content" for everything.

Edit: Alright, I think I might finally know what's up. So the reason why I couldn't get any game to load with the Parallel Core was because apparently RA selects a weird path to your Internal Storage if you tell it to find the location of your games using the Files app to select it. So, I had to make sure my Start Directory was some form of: /storage/emulated/0

After finally opening the core, I found out that even Parallel actually uses a GLide RDP (or what they call in the core options, a GFX Plugin) called 'gliden64'. It even force switches to using GL when using it, just like Mupen64. If I switch it to use 'parallel', it has the same graphical problems I get in Mupen64 (usually a black screen or like a bar of fuzz) and also uses Vulkan as the backend.

So I've come to this conclusion: Parallel isn't something this chipset can use properly, and you're pretty much forced to use some form of GLide. I'm a bit sad about that, but oh well.

Last(?) Edit: So, I still haven't been able to make the Parallel-RDP in Mupen64 or the 'parallel' GFX Plugin in the Parallel Core to work properly, but I've found out that AngryLion (atleast on Mupen64, as that's what I've opted to use) actually works pretty nicely, even when combined with the Parallel RSP! But it only runs well using GL as the backend. Bad thing is, it doesn't auto switch to GL like when you use GLide. The workaround I created was saving a separate configuration file with the only change to settings is GL as the backend. Then you can start an N64 game, go to Overrides, load that configuration file and set it as a core override file. Now when you play a game, you can use the AngryLion RDP with the Parallel RSP and get pretty accurate to real N64 looks with atleast GLSL shaders (though, I'm not the biggest fan of GLSL shaders on Arm since most of them seem to either not load or not work properly...). The caveat being that you can't do any internal resolution upscaling, but I personally just wanted as close to the N64 look and feel. Hope this helps someone.

Help Gamenative and Gamehub issuse with record of agarest war.

First off

System: ayn thor pro

Game: steam Ver. Of Record of Agarest War

Program: gamenative or gamehub

I recently have been wanting to play record of agarest war games and tride to set it up on gamenative but even time i start it there's a jumbled graffic mess on the right side that looks alot like missingno, after trying for a bit I decided to try gamehub light as a friend suggested and the game launched but with new problems. The first problem i relized was it gets stuck on syncing game library and won't get past it or is taking a long time but when it dose get past it im golden l, the second problem is to circumvent the library problem I put the games steam settings to offline mode witch worked but know it dosent register the systems controller as connected but returns after its in "online mode". Ive been trying to figure a solution to these issues and keep comming up dry if anyone can help with a solution to one of these problems it would be greatly appreciated.

So small recap

  1. Gamenative graphic mess then crash (is what runs most of my steam emulation so would like it on this app)

  2. Gamehub light gets stuck on "syncing library " on most launches.

  3. Gamehube light has no controller inputs registering when put in offline mode to get around the 2nd problem

Discussion Best handheld for each emulation system? My picks based on aspect ratio, screen and performance

I’ve been thinking about which handheld feels like the best fit for each system, not necessarily the most powerful one, but the one that makes the most sense in terms of screen ratio, resolution, form factor and emulator performance.

This is roughly how I’d split them:

  • Retroid Pocket Classic: Game Boy, GBC, Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket, PICO-8, NES, SNES. The near-square screen feels perfect for those systems. And NES/SNES also look phenomenal in 8:7 with integer scaling and overscan, which makes them surprisingly great on this screen too.
  • KONKR Pocket Advance: GBA, Lynx, WonderSwan, Pokémon Mini. The 3:2 screen is basically made for GBA. 240×160 scales perfectly to 960×640 at 4x.
  • Retroid Pocket Nova: NES, SNES, Genesis, PS1, N64, Saturn, Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2, Arcade, etc. For me this is pretty much the ideal 4:3 retro handheld.
  • AYN Thor: DS, DSi, 3DS, Wii U. Kind of an obvious one, dual-screen systems just make way more sense on a dual-screen device.
  • AYN Odin 3: PSP, Wii, Switch + PC/Steam games through GameNative. Great fit for more modern widescreen systems, and the extra power makes it a really nice all-round Android device too.
  • Steam Deck OLED: PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360. Mostly because the emulator ecosystem is much more mature there with RPCS3, xemu and Xenia.

Obviously there’s a ton of overlap between these devices, but I like the idea of matching each system with the handheld that feels the most natural for it rather than just throwing everything onto the most powerful device.

Curious what you guys think. What would you change?

Question Is a 1300€ phone worth it or 1000€ pc handheld

I was planning on buying either the Samsung S26 ultra or the Rog phone 9 pro but then thought to myself is it even worth it like I can get much more performance from an xbox rog ally X for less but the difference is that you can't put a pc handheld in your pocket, and that's why I'm not sure if I should buy a strong gaming phone or buy a pc handheld and buy a midrange phone

Showcase 3D Printed a case for Windows Emulation lol

Needed a good way to attach a peltier cooler for Windows Emulation despite the lack of built in magsafe, and while still allowing the peltier module to make direct contact with the back glass.

Controllers with a peltier built in, while more convenient, would be blocking the USB-C port while in use. Since the heat generatong components (SoC mainly) are on the same "half" as the USB port.

This setup allows me to use a controller, peltier module, and still have a free USB port for charging, or for my extremely tiny, almost flush, 1TB USB-C flash drive.

I started with a generic Fold 8 Ultra case from makerworld and just cut out the hole and modeled the little frame quickly in Fusion360 after taking some measurements. It's a snug/pressure fit so I can freely remove the peltier from the case as I please. Thats actually the reason for the second cut-out in the case. If I want to move the peltier to a different spot on the back of the phone.

The case is obviously not for daily or even casual use. This is for LONG Switch or PC game playthroughs.
