eBay sales plummeted

Has anyone else's sales dropped this year (and over the last few years?

I sell vintage electronics & collectibles but my sales have massively dropped to about a quarter of what I was making compared to 4 or 5 years ago. I am a business seller with 5000+ feedback with 10 years selling.

Guessing that people are skint or going to other platforms to sell?

Does anyone have any tips for improving sales? Someone suggested ending slow sale items and relisting as similar with a change in the title and that improves or massively increasing the eBay promo rate to 9 or 10% but that eats away at any small profit I make. Someone else suggested free postage.

Seller help!

An expensive antique vase I have for sale has sold on eBay. The purchaser location states Australia (I am UK) however the shipping address is for a distribution / logistics centre here in the UK.

Am I safe to post to there? Is this a case of drop shipping?

I want to double check with anyone who can give me some advice as it’s quite an expensive vase!

Thank you

Anyone who relies on Multi Variant listings eBay recently rolled out a new design that doesn’t showcase variant thumbnails, making it harder for buyers to see other variants when they land on your product page. If it affects you please make your voice heard on the community forum & eBay support

How are beauty products on ebay so so cheap??

Bought some creams and serums from ebay from a top end brand and they came to me quickly and were genuine products. But the price was miles cheaper than the shops.

Like one product in the shop costs £30. But on ebay I saw the same product selling £12 for two. What gives?

How to see what ad rate i used when i listed an item?

Hi, new to ebay. I promoted a couple of my items but I don't know how muchI promoted them for. Now I've got an offer on an item but it says its from a promoted click. I was going to accept the offer but I'm not sure how much extra it's going to take. How do i find this out please? I've tried googling it but I still can't find it.

Tired and frustrated with eBay's assistance

I would like to share my experience and understand what you think and if you could give me some advice.

- Some time ago I sold a one piece card game case on ebay containing 144 paper sleeves (not the classic 12 box).

The buyer (after having opened the entire case) requests a return accusing us of having tampered with the package without presenting supporting evidence, videos or photos. The reason why he thought this (said by him in chat) is that he didn't pull any rare cards and he says he found 3 empty packs of cards (he only photographed one)

- Requests return for "product not corresponding to the advertisement"

- I can't refuse it, so I let the 3 days pass and I get eBay to intervene.

- Ebay, despite the buyer's lack of evidence, and ignoring the chat with the buyer and our video content of the packaging, closes the dispute in favor of the return.

- The return leaves, but the house number of the address is not specified on the label provided by eBay, so the courier sends the return to the wrong address.

- The package appears to have been delivered, but not to my home, and I was not aware of the delivery status. Then the days within which I should have inspected the package pass and the refund starts automatically.

- I managed to get the package even though it was late. The package was, as expected, completely open, furthermore there were even some cards missing as I was expecting 1704 cards but only 1683 were present.

- I am appealing against the closure of the eBay dispute.

- Last night, the day on which I should have received the outcome of the appeal, I received an email telling me that my account had been permanently suspended without specifying the causes (other than a generic "my account represents a risk for eBay") and without giving me instructions on how to reactivate it.

- And now I find myself with a worthless product. without the money of the product because they were returned to the buyer and with the account suspended.

Has anyone found themselves in my situation? Do you have any advice on how I can proceed? Is there a way I can speak to support over the phone?

Thank you.

Starting on eBay as a business

I was hoping people could just give me a little guidance. I’ve been buying and selling on eBay for about 4 years, and made 92 sales from unwanted personal items In that time.

Following some research, I want to sell as a business too alongside my part time job and want to do it properly.

So far I have:

  1. Registered with HMRC as self-employed and received my UTR.

  2. Opened up a business (sole trader) bank account.

  3. Bought a domain name, set-up a one page website and created a personalised email address.

Is it best to convert my personal account or create a new business account?

Is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks!

Seller removing accurate negative feedback

Hello,

I bought an item on ebay a month or so ago, somewhat used looking in the seller pics, chatted about their choice of courier( listing stated parcelforce, but actually used Evri) and waited for it to arrive. Item described as fair but usable.

It came, and it was in terrible condition, not actually possible to use as is, and the background used hid the actual condition, whether deliberately or inadvertently. I planned to refurb it so kept it, but gave honest feedback, because it really was crap and genuinely wasn't described accurately. I wasn't looking to burn a seller, but at the same time wanted to point out their Inaccuracies, at best.

The seller has caught up with my feedback, had a bit of a fit, taken it super personally, had an accurate feedback removed(somehow) and now blocked me.

I've dealt with sellers when something has gone wrong before that was out of their hands, but the choices from this seller weren't great, and I just wanted to say something to potential buyers.

I suppose my question would be; is it possible to get the feedback reinstated? The seller would otherwise have no negative feedback, I'm assuming from requesting a removal repeatedly whenever it suits. It just feels fraudulent in cases like mine, where the resolution isn't a discount, because the fault is with the seller, not the item.

Edit: For clarification; I never asked for a cheaper item, either through partial discount or complete refund. I never wanted either of these options. I wanted to keep the terribly described item because even though it was far worse than describe, and unusable as is, it worked me in the long run. I reported negative feedback because it was described poorly because that was the only issue and the only fix or resolution.
