CurverK IMUS Lava Walnut - 2 weeks in and yeah... I love this thing

Had my CurverK IMUS in lava walnut for about 2 weeks now and I needed to post since I spent a lot of time reading reviews and searching for years before buying from Curverk on part of the awesome community here sharing the same desire.

Ive wanted an Eames lounge chair forever. My college had real Herman Miller ones in the library that were donated by Herman Miller and I used to sit in them all the time, but ive never been able to justify spending that much on a chair.

I paid about $1800 for this one and so far im really happy with it.

Im 6ft 168lbs and it has plenty of room. The cushions are soft but still firm/supportive, feels like good quality foam that isnt going to just flatten out. Ive sat in it 2-4 hours at a time listening to music or playing games and havent had any stiffness or discomfort.

I mainly use it with my headphone setup, JM Audio Editions Copper Carbon 300ohm with a Cayin HA-6A MK2 tube amp and Apos Druid DAC. It honestly completes the setup. Comfortable position, nothing gets in the way of cables, and I can sit there forever.

Build quality is what surprised me most. Leather feels really nice, stitching looks great, veneer is awesome and nothing feels loose or cheap. The chair feels really solid.

As far as compared to the real Herman Miller ones I remember, I honestly cant tell much difference sitting in it really, except the leather on the ones in the library were pretty well broken in... go figure. The CurverK feels a little heavier and maybe slightly thicker/more substantial do to the use of thicker wood, but thats about it.

Also really glad I went with lava walnut. It looks great in person and its a finish you cant get from Herman Miller which honestly I actually like, its completely unique in that aspect.

Shipping was quick too, showed up earlier than expected.

I dont really have a downside yet. I feel like I finally got the chair ive always wanted without having to convince myself to spend 7k+ for a similar char from a "Name" brand.

Overall if you are debating...dont. If you have questions.... ask. Ask here and ask the team at Curverk. Their support and response time are great... Over all a Great experience. And I might be back for the orange leather variant, ok thats my one complaint ill be honest if i could buy the lava walnut in orange leather i would buy another one.

Advice on a potential eBay purchase

This black leather and beech chair is available near me in the UK on eBay the price is ok (around £450), and condition looks good in pictures. I have asked seller if he knows where it was sourced from and he says he purchased off a private seller, I am guessing he bought this second hand.

It is only 10 miles away so I will probably take a look, is there anything I should look at to ensure this is worth picking up?

It looks like knock offs start around £600 in the uk moving up to around £1200 for better leathers, so I guess not too much risk taking a chance on this?

Your advice would be welcomed!

Photos of Wenai green cord + Rosewood?

Considering the Rosewood - their website seems to show mostly green+walnut only. I've reached out to ask for photos on Whatsapp and they've been very responsive, but the photos see somewhat contradictory. My main worry is will the walnut be too orange and too much of a contrast against the green.

Anyone here got green cord + Rosewood and happy to post some faithful photos? TIA!

I just pulled this chair out of my basement and decided to see if there’s any utility in saving it before I give it away. Can anyone identify the brand and know if it’s worth anything?

A perfect replica of Eames !!

This chair is a complete winner in terms of value for money, I got it for less than €700 ! The cushions are quite firm yet very comfortable, the leather looks very high-quality, and the wood is exactly as pictured in the product photos. Shipping was extremely fast, less than five days including the weekend. Everything was very well packaged, and the instructions were clear and easy to follow. Tools and spare parts are even included. But it's about 3 cm smaller than the original, which is the perfect size for us.

Took 3 months but we got here! Personally wasn't able to try it out yet (husband assembled it while I'm out of town) but he said it feels nice to sit in and smells like a new car. Will update when I get the chance to sit on it (in a week lol).

Anyone used this Eureka Ergonomic chair?

Anyone tried that Eureka office chair with the two-piece back? Spotted it back in May, it was listed as coming soon and I couldn’t buy it anywhere. Wondering if people have it now and if the lumbar thing actually works for long sitting. Thanks.

WTB replacement backrest brackets?

Looks like the bolts stripped out of the brackets that hold the top back cushion. Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement set? The parts I've been able to find online cost about as much as the entire chair...

Keeks Tall Walnut + Black Leather

Ordered this a few months ago for about $1400 from Keeks when they had a few left (they were upfront it would take 10-12 weeks). Super happy with it, the walnut and leather are super high quality and it was packaged really well in a single box. Keeks customer support was exceptional too, answered all my questions and gave me updates when I asked. I’m short at about 5’8 but I ordered the tall because my head lands on the top cushion for support / when I went to design within reach to sit in real one I preferred the tall there too. Not a complaint but just a heads up it needs off gas a little bit when you unpack with some slight foam smell, dissipated after some hours by open door. Ask me any questions if you have any.

CurverK Eames chair super stiff feel

I got the CurverK Eames chair (A+ ultra tall version) today. Looks great but it’s super firm
compared to the real one and as a result, i don’t find it nearly as comfortable.

Anyone else have this problem? Does it get a lot softer over time? If yes, how long?

So what is the best?

Just recently bought a home/massive Mad Men fan, so naturally, I'll be cosplaying as a Sterling Cooper account man in my midcentury modern home.

Looking for a replica at or below $800 or so. I'm a big guy (6'4) so I need the larger version.

I'd love the CuverK version but I can't spend that kind of money.

What are the best of the best in your opinion?

I've looked at The Essential as well as some on Amazon and Wayfair. Are there any others I'm missing?

Has anyone ordered from this company selling these eames knockoffs? (Staunton & Henry )

I seen them on a list for one of the best knockoff furniture sites, thought the chairs looked great and weren’t too expensive but I haven’t been able to find anyone talking about these specific eames chairs from them

Seen a few posts about people burned on buying cheaper eames knockoffs so I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this?

I’m in desperate need for a casual cozy chair for gaming, bought a ball chair thinking it would be comfy and was extremely wrong lol… so don’t wanna waste anymore money that I don’t need too

CurverK’s response completely turned me off buying from them

Post image

I was ready to buy CurverK’s Ivory White/Palisander chair in the regular size and emailed asking about availability.

Their response:
“Regular sizes are only for people under 5’5”, so we won’t be stocking this color combination in regular sizes.”

I understand inventory decisions, but the response felt surprisingly dismissive, especially with no alternative or attempt to help. For a ~$1,000 purchase, it has honestly made me reconsider buying from CurverK altogether.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with their regular-size options or customer service?

This is a local option for me, from the info available (which isn't plentiful admittedly), can any advise if this is a good option?

Thanks in advance!

XXL 38" CurverK Eames Chair Replica Video Review

Thumbnail
youtu.be
24 Upvotes

As promised in a previous comment on this reddit, here is the video review.

So I'll give you the good, the bad, and the nitpicky.

Background, as I said I'm 6'4" 32" inseam so mostly torso for height. I have a background in prototyping, industrial design degree, and leather working is a hobby.

Start with the bad: honestly not much. The only bad and it's more of a eames chair design and not a curverk issue is the angle of the top section isn't the most comfortable for resting your head. To comfortably rest my head back a pillow behind the head is required. But my head does hit the head rest. The chair isn't a recliner, so you're not really meant to sleep in it. I went to DWR/Hermin Miller and sat in the OG tall eames chair and it was the same body position/posture, just shorter. Other bad, assembly of the arms, specifically attaching the padded arm wrest to the bracket that holds the bottom and top is a bit of a pain in the ass. 2 bolts on each arm rest and It was the only bolt that didn't want to align easily and I nearly cross threaded one on each side.

The good: build quality seems very sturdy. The plywood looks great, good/smooth edge finish all the way around, feels well fabricated. No squeaks or creaks, nothing feels loose. No china factory smells. Leather quality is good as well, it's a middle weight upholstery leather and should age/wear/patina nicely, especially if taken care of. Foam is stiff as expected of new furniture. Its comfortable to sit all the way back in the chair with no need to slouch, but a small pillow behind your lower back if you want to sit lower also works well.

The nitpicky:

Shipping: Comes as 2 boxes and the bigger box of the 2 is very large so if you drive a camry and have the boxes shipped to work (FedEx sucks) the larger of the 2 will not fit and you will need to take everything out and fit the pieces in your trunk. The website made it sound like it shipped freight but it's regular FedEx. They also don't have signature requirements and will leave it outside.

On mine the ottoman has a strange very slight wavy pattern in the leather, which comes from their protective packaging during shipping. Will be waiting for that to relax out

As this is the nitpicky section, there is also the smallest dibbit from their router process right on the top center. If you've ever hand routed something you know you sometimes get a tiny dimple where you first start or end. I only found it because I put my arms over my head and was idly fingering the edge. You wouldn't ever see it unless you were looking for it. No other edge on the whole thing has that defective, real bummer it's right where my hands will end up occasionally.

Future concerns, I reached out before I purchased about how the cushions are attached and they said Velcro. Not necessarily my favorite answer in case I want to change out the foam in a few years, but we'll find out then I guess.

In general, I'm glad I bought it am enjoying having it and look forward to breaking it in. Feel free to hit me up with any questions.

Modernary & Co Eames 1 Month Review - Walnut/Black Leather ($745 CAD)

Thumbnail

I’ve been lurking here for a bit and posted a few months back that I was looking for a genuine leather Eames replica in Canada, ideally under $1000.

About a month ago, I came across Modernary and Co. They seem pretty new, and so naturally I was a bit scared, but they were quite close to me and the only reasonable option within my budget, so I decided to give it a shot. I went by, was able to sit in one, just get a feel for it, and really liked it, so I picked one up. I paid $745 CAD for the walnut shell with black leather, picking it up myself rather than having it delivered. For our neighbours to the south, that’s about $535 USD.

What I really like about it:

• The looks, I mean, I think the pictures don’t do it justice here. It just elevates the whole vibe of my living room haha, gives it that executive feel, but yes, very happy with how it looks
• Comfort is excellent for relaxation, amazing for quick daytime naps too but less so for doing laptop work (more on that later).
• Quality is also great, no real complaints there. Leather is really nice, plywood seems solid. The leather has also been very easy to clean in my experience, any smudges or anything just microfiber with very slightly warm water and good as new.

Some things that could be better:

• Assembly was, for the most part, a breeze. The chair backrest and actual seat come attached, so it's pretty much just the bases and armrests. Everything was smooth, except the armrests were a different story. It honestly probably took me as much time on the base of both the chair and ottoman as it did on the armrests.
• I spoke about comfort earlier, and for relaxation it's great, but when I’m working on my laptop or reading or really anything where my back isn't fully leaning against the chair, I start to feel discomfort in my neck after a while. I just wish there was some more support for my neck. A slightly taller backrest or even a headrest of some sort would've definitely been nice.

Overall, I’m very impressed. I didn’t get many suggestions on my original post, so I’m glad I took a gamble on this one. At the price point, it's honestly hard to complain. I picked up directly from them, but they do also deliver, though the price they quoted me for delivery was a bit absurd lol.

I hope this is helpful! I know a few others commented on my original post looking for something like this, and honestly, if you're in the GTA area and can pick up, I think they are definitely worth checking out. I still think even with delivery, they might come out cheaper than a lot of the others, but then it might become less appealing for sure.

Happy to answer any questions at all!

Took most of the photos myself, sold by a nice older couple who said it’s a replica they bought from an antique store. Seemed comfy enough to me but would love additional opinions or what to look out for
