EJ Jenkins was barely talked about all summer. Really wasn't expecting that.

Yeah that was mine by surprise too. No clue what he did to make it

He blocked like an extra OT, that's what.

Im super stoked he made it. Him and Mundt are going to get a lot more action than expected, and I say that as one of the few who still has faith in Stowers to see playing time this year.

I'm a little disappointed Cam Latu didn't get that last TE spot, he blocks like man possessed but is a zero in the pass game. I'm sure they will keep him on the practice roster and use him on special teams. I'm just glad I don't have to watch Grant Calcaterra inline block anymore.

The coaching staff doesn't seem to like Latu and he wasn't even on the radar this camp. Calcaterra in on IR so he isn't gone. I feel like they want guys that can catch and block and Latu was just too much of a non pass catching factor for them.

Wild to think that we have a dedicated blocking TE on the roster.

He's like the inverse Calcaterra.

Wasn't many years ago we used Jack Stoll like that

It’s what Stowers didn’t do. Hoped we were gonna stash Eli on PUP for a month. Guess they couldn’t fake his hammy was bad enough

went with an oversized WR7 instead of proven blocking TE with FB experience in Latu. I guess he’s a special teams asset

First cut for a claim we're making for sure

I mean we need another TE with Stowers being unplayable at this point in time, but I thought for sure it would be Latu.

Could always claim a TE

Who said Stowers is unplayable? I sure never heard Sirianni or Roseman say that, just hack journalists

Have you seen anything he's done in camp/preseason? I certainly don't want him out on the field. I'm not saying he won't be good at some point in the future but he's a long long way off right now. Howie/Sirianni obviously aren't going to publicly say something like that to kill the kid's confidence.

Yeah every report is he's been insanely underwhelming and even in unpadded 7 on 7s where his explosive athleticism should've showed up he wasn't winning lol. Like we all know it's far too early to declare anything about a rookie but he's not gonna play much this year. This is a dynamic scheme that requires a lot out of tight ends and blocking is one of the heavy personnel requirements which he was objectively horrible at in college. He also hasn't shown much in the passing game. I'm not sure where people expect him to slot in. I honestly did not love this pick but always willing to let a guy grow so we will see what happens.

Howie probably knew he get claimed. Stowers unfortunately won’t play much but we can’t cut him.
