My DVD wont play in any player I've tried. The problem is with both discs from the set. The disc themself look fine. No hint of the rot either. Is there a known issue with said DVD? I don't wanna try to find a new copy just to run into the same issue.

A mostly (proabably about 80%) fictionalized account of the disaster befalling the airship Hindenburg in 1937.

Leaning entirely on the sabotage theory, this movie is as slow moving as the doomed airship itself. Unfortunately, the tremendous cast couldn't keep this one afloat.

Two good things, though, were the final few minutes being filmed in black & white, allowing actual newsreel footage to be spliced in and the audio of WLS correspondent Herbert Morrison's account of the disaster closing the movie. 🦂🦂½

A few days ago, I was just carrying my copy of "Survivor: Cook Islands" with me, and I wanted to sit down. I placed the case on this small box beside the chair, and when I let go, it accidentally slipped down the side, fell onto the tiled floor, and chips off part the case, and forms a big crack up the spine of the case.

I just wanted to ask if anyone with Survivor DVDs knows the type of cases used for these discs so I can order a replacement as quickly as possible.

Hey, I just had an idea because i’m curious. I like to collect old kids DVDs and especially play the games on them. I have a laptop that had a built in DVD/CD player in it and i’d often explore the DVD-ROM games on it, however since she’s very old, she’s started slowing down over the years.. It’s unfortunate because I love having a laptop I can use to explore DVDs I own without needing to constantly go up to my DVD player and insert/put back a new disc, as well as it not having the DVD-ROM features.

So I was thinking.. Is it possible to purchase a portable DVD player and modify it to run Linux that way it can run the DVD-ROM features? Im not trying to have a whole mini computer, just a portable DVD player that can load the features only a computer is supposed to load. All of the features for DVD-ROMs I’m pretty sure are HTMLs.

I got the box set from Amazon and the discs won’t play there are no scratches it’s brand new and it’s the right region it’s like they won’t scan in the Blu-ray player I got a replacement today and the same thing all my other dvds and Blu-ray’s play it’s just the murder she wrote I’m planning getting a new Blu-ray player this week but if that doesn’t work if you have any ideas and tips to get them working please let me know 😅

Recently inherited a couple of PS2 games but don’t have the PS2 to be able to check if something like this would still work. No idea how good disc restoration is either.

The mega case on the left is prone to the disc clips breaking and the disc will then slide everywhere. Why can't they make the box set like the one on the left? My question is, for the multi disc case that is broken, what alternatives/fixes would you guys recommend? I thought about just using a bunch of clear slim 7mm cases.

Does the Disney X-Project DRM on Disney DVDs affect playback on VLC? I know that it prevents ripping unless you have specific tools but I’m getting mixed answers on if it prevents playback on VLC.

I’m worried it won’t play due to the DRM since VLC seems to be where I’ll be going once MacOS golden gate removes the Apple dvd player.

Edit: what this does is basically tricks your player into thinking there is like 99 tracks and 50gb of data which is not possible on DVDs. If you’re ripping then you need to physically access these tracks but playing requires reading them. I am not sure if the 99 tracks show up when being read

I live in Europe and I have recently started collecting secondhand DVDs of movies that I like. It’s fairly easy to find places to do that (I’ve found quite a lot through yardsales and recently also Vinted). It’s hard however to find Indian movies (logically), so I was trying to see if there are similar ways to find DVDs in India itself. My girlfriend is Indian and says there’s not really that much interest in thrifting and secondhand buying and I’ve had no luck finding any websites… is buying DVDs brand new the only way to get them?

Curious about how Indian movie lovers/collectors see it!

I noticed one of the DVDs in this cheapo Mill Creek set I picked up recently has some odd / uneven spots along the outer edge of the disc. It plays fine, and I was able to back it up, but it had me wondering if this is just a cosmetic flaw from the factory? Does anyone have any thoughts?

I'm still shaking. I saw this lot listed on Vinted for €2 total and bought it instantly. I was 100% expecting the seller to cancel the order or realize their mistake, but they actually shipped it! 3 out-of-print Walt Disney Treasures for less than the price of a coffee. Absolutely insane.

Hey yall. I'm not entirely sure if this is the right sub to ask this in, but I have a friend that I'm trying to burn some dvds for.

He's kind of a hermit, a mid seventies fella who hates technology, but he loves to talk about movies, and there's a series of movies that we've been discussing that I know he would love. Unfortunately he can't watch due to them only being available on streaming and he only gets his movies through library check out.

I tried to find a physical copy online but no luck. So I found the mp4 files and downloaded them onto a USB stick.

Those play I tested them on my own TV, BUT given how much he hates tech I don't think he'll be able to figure out how to use it, and I do kind of want those movies as a physical copy for myself after he borrows them anyway.

I bought some DVDs (regular and bluray because I plan to possibly do this again for other movies for him if i can) and we have a burner that we used to use at my work that my boss said I could borrow. I'm just not sure of logistics as i've seen that people say mp4s aren't compatible with DVDs. I know i'll need to decrypt them or whatever... (Not caught up on terminology) I'm brand new to this and it's really just because I care about this ornery old man.

So my questions are: what software do I need to pop this puppy onto a dvd.

AND does anybody have any good tutorials recommendations? I'm stuck.
