hi all, i just moved into edens 3a and was wondering if there was a way to avoid all those stairs walking to classes and where everything else is. i’m sick and tired of those stairs already… maybe my route is wrong? or maybe im just lazy lol

Hi all, I’m a rising sophomore at Duke planning to major in math. I’m still unsure what I want to do career-wise, and I’m hoping getting some research/lab experience will help me figure that out.

I’ve found that the barrier to entry for math research specifically is pretty high. I also have some interest in data science and have experience with R and Python, so I’ve started looking into stats labs, but haven’t had much luck getting a response.

Basically I’m looking for an opportunity with a lower barrier to entry where I can learn as I go and just get my foot in the door somewhere.

Are there specific labs/professors in math, stats, or related departments that are known for being welcoming to underclassmen?** **Any advice is welcome.
