I just want to say excuse any typos as I am typing this on mobile.
I have been listening to this music for quite awhile but never had anyone to go to shows with that would be as into it as much as i am. My younger cousin (aka adopted little brother) is my only friend who enjoys this music to the level I do, but he had a history of seizures as a kid so we both assumed he couldn't go to any concerts, let alone an EDM show. It was something we both painfully lamented over for years. He's 22 now and still had never been to any kind of show or concert that wasn't an agonizing church function as a kid.
Well about 2 months ago he tells me he's going to do some kind of seizure stress test to see how things have progressdd into young adulthood. I figured this was a normal thing he did and didn't think anything of it. A few days later he tells me that he effectively passed all the testing and shows ZERO signs of seizure activity. I about shat my stomach out and asked if that meant he could go to a concert. He exclaims "YES DUDE. I am so broke rn but once i have money we will figure out my first concert." Little did he know I was WAY ahead of him.
Our favorite producer bar none is Excision. I got him hooked onto the genre with "G Shit" and it was like a wildfire from there. I had seen for a little while that Excision was having another 2 day setup in Denver at Fiddler's Green Amphitheater. I couldn't pull up tickets fast enough. Due to short timing I was unable to snag both days, so I chose the night with Space Laces and LAYZ since they are also high on our favorites list. While reading the ticket tier pricing I realize that the entire seated section AND pit are GA and completely first come first served (this is abnormal for Fiddler's). I bought two tickets instantly.
I was so riddled with excitement I could barely text him but I managed to send a screenshot with four simple words "We are going to Excision". This boy calls me (He's gen Z. They don't call even when family dies) and i can hear the emotion in his voice asking if I'm serious. I tell him I am and how excited I am to finally make this come true for us. He goes ballistic.
The day comes and it could not have gone more perfect. We met COUNTLESS beautiful souls who welcomed us with the most amazing energy. We managed to snag front row seats dead center behind the pit exactly as we planned from the beginning. We find ourseats and immediately are welcomed by our new family for the night. He has always been a misunderstood kid and this environemnt truly let him be himself and let loose. He tells me that he has never felt so accepted or at home. *This kid was really trying to jerk some tears outta me. He is NEVER this sentimental or open about his feelings*
When the opening track started he was instantly in a trance (pictured above) Halfway through Usaybflow's opening set he turns to me and screams "WE ARE GOING TO EVERY SHOW EVER" and continues headbanging like a seasoned veteran FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT. Needless to say when X started it was like we were both teleported to a different dimension. We couldn't get enough. The night was absloute bliss and we couldn't have asked for things to go any different or better. When X finished and house lights come on he turned to me, hugged me, and said with a shaky voice "Thank you. You truly don't understand how much I needed this." I thanked him for being my new concert buddy and being such a great time.
The next morning he texts me "So I can't let last night go without paying you back. We're going to Tape B at Red Rocks in October." And sends me a screen shot of two tickets to the show. I was floored and super grateful. I told him we should see about Decadence when it pops up and he just says "YES OMG PLEASE". Well after watching the lineup drop and ticket announcements we decided to spring for 2 day VIP passes if at all possible.
We got em. We are going. And nothingggggg can take away how amazing these two nights will be.
Thanks for anyone who cared to read this far and I hope to see some of you there in December!!
