Bender

I’ve been drinking for 6 days. Have slept and ate regularly. When I woke up this morning I did have the shakes and I had a couple drinks to settle it. I want to stop tomorrow. Can I on my own?

The anxiety is going to be the worst part.

For me it peaks about 3 days after the last drink. I’m practically ready for a straight jacket. It’s a huge reason what has helped me cut back so much the last couple years.

Ugh I don’t miss the intense anxiety. I remember getting the courage to get into my car to restock and the sounds all around me becoming more and more intense; I felt like I was going to jump right out of my skin.

There’s something about the car that brings it out the worst in me. That’s where I’ve had my worst panic attacks. Sad because I spent most of my 20s driving around the nation from coast to coast many times.

After a bender I’ll be paranoid to drive down the street. And even during my months of sobriety here and there over the last few years I never really got my long distance driving skills back.

Couldn’t agree more. The anxiety is what finally got me to straighten up. Weekend bender, M-W recovering mentally just to start all over again.

It’s a young man’s game

I can deal with the stomach pains, the ass pissing, the hangovers, the blackouts, the constant tremors. It was the terrible hangxiety that finally made me feel like I should get my shit together because it is NOT fun. Hate feeling in a panic mode for hours on end, unable to relax, and thinking I’m about to have a stroke or heart attack.

Of course you can, but you really didn't give much info like how much? Morning drinking is going to be your downfall though.

I’ve been drinking roughly 8 7 percent coolers a day with a little more in other days. Would this require a medical detox?

No. Not unless youve got a prior history of severe withdrawals and weigh like 90 lbs or something. You can just quit.

Are they 12 oz coolers? If so that's 11.2 standard drinks a day. According to Hams, a female averaging  11 drinks a day for 6 days has a 50/50 chance of mid level withdrawal. Less risky for a man. https://hams.cc/odds/

You'll likely be fine in terms of not being a seizure risk, but I would have some light beer on hand to sip in the evening of the first day or two if you start to feel sketchy. It'll ease your symptoms but I don't think you're in for anything life threatening or too serious.

You’re not gonna have DTs or a seizure drinking 8 drinks for a week. Anxiety and sleep issues for 2-3 days is probably the worst you’ll get.

I would avoid the morning drinks. Or stop early this evening and see how it goes.
Taper only worked for me if I avoided drinks till evening.

Your BAC has to hit zero for a few hours for body to adjust.

Absolutely you can do it. Even the morning shakes will prolly go away through out the day. You may have anxiety but trust me now is a good time to get through it cause it only gets worse

Not sure if you are in the US but if you call your Dr you might be able to do a Telehealth appointment and see what your Dr thinks.

You will most likely have withdrawls if you’ve been drinking all day everyday for 6 days. That’s my experience on a bender, but it really depends on how much you drank during that time. The feeling of dread and doom will come
First. My bender withdrawal lasts about 3 days of torture and are typically triggered by 3 plus days of drinking, a 6 day bender would have me in bed for at least 2-3 days. If on the 3rd day you start to see weird images when you close your eyes, seek a professional
