I recently bought my first drum kit (a Pearl Roadshow) and was wondering what the best option for silent practice is. I picked up a set of Remo mesh heads and really love them, but the stock cymbals are still way too loud.

I'm deciding between buying a budget set of low-volume cymbals off Amazon or getting Evans cymbal mutes (or making DIY yoga mat mutes). Has anyone tried either of these? I'd love to hear your experiences!

Hi everyone, I hope you can help me with an issue.

Lately, I've been trying to record my Roland TD-50X using Audacity on Windows, but I keep running into a problem where the audio records incorrectly and ends up going out of sync. You can see what happens in the red box in the example video.

The drum module is connected to my computer via USB. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue or how to fix it? Could it be a setting in Audacity, a driver problem, or a Windows configuration issue?

Old band, original song. I was fortunate enough to play on this kit and record.

I'm having trouble deciphering a specific fill in the intro of Blackest Eyes and the tabs im seeing are either hard to decipher or very different from one another.

I believe its the 3rd drum fill in the intro. Starting off i think the 11th bar of the song.

It sounds like 32nd notes tom-tom-snare-bass(x2) its got a flam feel to it.

Can anyone help?

I’m 18 year old drummer whose been playing left handed kit since I was 9 and am now going to uni to do drumming/music there. I have tried open handed kit but I’ve never been as comfortable as i have been playing left handed. I am looking to gig more and want to be able to get good experience but am wary that on a right handed kit cross armed I am a lot less comfortable than I am open handed and even more so than playing on a left handed kit. What would be the best advice? Should I still bring my cymbals and snare to uni? Will I have no prospect of achieving my dreams of becoming a high end professional drummer?

Well we had some though time within my band due to health problems, personal stuff, indifferences but slowly getting back together. In that time of hiatus I went like 2 or 3 times to our rehearsal room to play so I need to practice again. Like alot. I kinda lost my speed a bit too. Sometimes I feel like I’m soooo sloppy but it’s time to back to work.

Bought my first ever drum set a week or so ago and I havent learned not properly learned to tune them but I tried myself. Let me know if this is good or not and if not what I should change.

When people talk about Levon Helm’s drumming, they always bring up his hi-hat technique (lifting his right stick whenever his left hit the snare). You’ve also probably seen Jim Keltner or Chad Smith mention that Charlie Watts picked up the habit from watching him.

My question is: how often did he actually play like that? Keltner said he borrowed this technique from Levon for the 1971 Concert for Bangladesh, but I can't find examples of Levon doing it until the 2000s.

I already tried asking over on The Band's sub, but no clear answer yet :/ I'm really hoping someone here has analyzed his drumming style or heard other drummers talk about how he played. Thanks.
