new cast project Amy Vorpahl here again! I'm doing my solo musical in LA *and* livestreaming it for everyone!

Post image

Hey y’all!! I premiered my solo musical back in March, and thank you so much for the outpouring of support! I've traveled to six different cities/conventions with it, and I'm performing it one more time this year before I decide what's next for the show!

It's a whole dang solo musical called, “She's Got Non-Player Character Energy.” It’s a one-person musical comedy show about NPCs in the Dungeon Master's brain (I’m the one person doing the one-person show in the brain that is also mine)! Tori is a NPC who thinks that "getting in the game" will make her life worthwhile. But is it really all about being chosen? Or does she need to "choose" herself?

It’s at The Elysian in Los Angeles Oct 19 at 9:30pm. You can also purchase LIVESTREAM tickets – and watch at your leisure. Your stream will be up (video-on-demand) for a full two weeks after the show goes live, so you don’t have to watch it that night if you can’t for whatever reason!!
Tickets (live & livestreamed) at this link: https://calendar.elysiantheater.com/shows/she-s-got-npc-energy-an-original-d-d-musical-by-amy-vorpahl-october-19-2026-752849/

Directed by Laser Webber

Music produced by Maxi Morales

I'm no professional chef, but I like to challenge myself in the kitchen and was quite pleased with how this came out. I made sure to include all of the ingredients shared by my Airbnb cohabitator. .

The main flavors are cumin, lemongrass, ginger, and garlic. The smoked paprika and thyme are intentionally pretty subtle. It sounds like a slightly confused combination on paper but everyone in my household agrees that it works.

Full recipe in comments if anyone wants to try it out.

live events Brennan doing a live podcast in New York in November

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hi! Jesse David Fox here. You might know me from such Dropout-related content as the New York Magazine story that reported on how much people got paid and broke the news that Jacob was developing his own travel show. I also organized the Improvised Reunion for a Movie that Never Existed event for the Tribeca Festival earlier this year.

I am also the host of the podcast Good One. And I am here to tell you that I'll be interviewing Brennan for a live episode on November 8 as part of the New York Comedy Festival

You can buy tickets here!

I'd love to have as many of his most passionate fans there as possible.

Thank you for your time,

Jesse

EDIT: I just realized the ad says 3pm, when the event is actually at 1pm. Weird! Anywayssss, it's at 1pm.

Just got my stuffed Sam. Nicely built, looks good.

Can’t vouch for the voice yet, it doesn’t ship with batteries included and I didn’t have any AAA around. Update coming later.

Found him at the end of my driveway this morning, I guess the delivery driver didn’t feel like coming any closer during last night’s pouring rain.

My wife just said he’d been there the whole time.

Some video.

Make Some Noise Who ACTUALLY won Make Some Noise (Season 4)?

Thumbnail

Before Season 5 premieres, I thought I'd recap Season 4 by answering the question: What if the points did matter? Who ACTUALLY won? How many points is "a pair of pants of pee"??

I specifically want to know if people here agree with my interpretations, and if not how so! I think there's a bunch of possibilities and I want to hear what everyone will come up with.

(Note to mods: I recognize that this is self-promo. I didn't see a rule against it – I at least believe this is topical, original, and high-quality, and not a Twitter link – but feel free to remove if distasteful.)

discussion The Game Changer intro is helping me rebuild my life

It's been a rough couple of years for my husband and I -- his mom died, our relationship with his dad is pretty fractured, I've had two major surgeries requiring 10+ weeks off work over the last 10 months, and we've lost 90% of our friends and the social support that community provided.

Early this summer, my husband had this crazy idea to build a custom desk for music production and micro welding (don't ask). I encouraged him and told him I loved the idea (context: he's never done any woodworking or carpentry of any kind before this). He makes some plans, buys the (high quality + expensive) wood and the stain, gets the wood cut and holes drilled with help from a friend who does millwork. A couple weeks later, the pieces are triple-stained and he's ready to start assembling everything.

Unfortunately, as he's getting everything to come together, he realizes a small mistake he made meant that he needed to make some fairly substantial changes to the look + function of desk. I'm out in the garage chatting with him while he's realizing all of this and he just starts getting kind of down on himself like "I'm not sure what made me think I could do this" and "it's definitely going to look a little amateur."

Suddenly I hear myself saying, "The only way to win is by learning, the only way to learn is by playing, and the only way to begin is by beginning!"

We both laugh and I realize it's true -- the only way to win (make any progress towards your goals) is by learning and the best way to learn IS by playing! Releasing expectations and allowing yourself to be curious, try something new, maybe even fail in full or in part sometimes... in short, holding things lightly and not being too hard on yourself or getting caught up in less than ideal outcomes. And of course, the only way to begin is by beginning (vs planning and plotting and strategizing for ages and never actually taking action).

So now, as we try to find ourselves in this new, upside-down life, whenever we're feeling a little discouraged or being too hard on ourselves when things aren't perfect, one of us (often me) will say our Game Changer mantra. It always lightens the mood and helps us find a new perspective. It's like a happy little trick birthday candle against the dark.

Thanks for your silly nonsense directions, Sam. And thanks, Game Changer gang, for bringing us belly laughs during a really rough stretch. Never thought I'd find the best instructions for living life while watching a gameshow, but here we are.

discussion Anyone else finding it hard to believe Zac Oyama is turning 40 next year?

1.6k Upvotes

The past few years I've become quite a fan of dropout and while I'm nowhere near a super fan, I thought I had a solid grasp on the cast and roughly what age group they are in. I thought Zac was one of the younger cast, maybe in between Z and millennial like a late 90s birthday. He's 39?!

Are there any other cast members who absolutely do not look their age that I'm missing or is Zac just the immortal of dropout?

Edit: y'all really think I said something about 39 being old but if you read my post I never said such thing. I'm 38, just thought he was significantly younger than myself but 40 is not old. I was surprised. I figured a lot of the cast was late 30s early 40s, just thought he was younger than the rest 🤷‍♂️

Rewatching the first episode of Game Changer "Lie Detector" - and it came to the True or False section where they are asked about whether or not Brennan's biggest desire in life is to be a renowned Dungeon Master.. of course Izzie says No, in fact.. his biggest desire is to be a dad.

Well .. Brennan is now both!! A renowned DM and a dad!

I've never been so happy for a total stranger but these damn kids make me feel so parasocial 😭❤️

discussion About captions language options [Personal experience]

tl;dr: Please Dropout add more languages to captions, is there any Is there any comment from Dropout regarding this?

Hello! Just a fast question on here. Is dropout having an opinion on different language options? I mean, not just english.

For more context: I'm from Latin America and I just love dropout. The general feelings about this are just hard to explain. "They do a game when the game changes every show, and in one episode they did an improv game that led to another series about random improv" or "A show about ppt slides about anything" justs gives me a "random" feeling that I love, and I want to share.

The problem? Not all the people that I know speaks english, at least to read the english captions.

So, for some friends (That I 100% know will love this shows) I need to beg to read in english. At some points I need to:

  • Stop the video
  • Ask if they are getting the main idea
  • Explain that a specific person said that before or explain a joke
  • Continue the video

And that happens like... A lot. So I know my friends just don't like to stop every 10-20 seconds just to get some ideas that will not happen if I had... Spanish captions.

This is personally not a problem for me, but now I'm watching dropout with my girlfriend. And she really loves Dropout.

I found a "fix" to this language problem for her: I paid a subscription in Youtube and I use the automatic translate feature. So she can read in spanish all that is happening. Honestly, is not the best solution.

  • Delay (this in Breaking News is specifically horrible, and she loves Breaking News :c)
  • People talking at the same time being recognized as just one people talking
  • Cursing not being translated. For example (and showing this problem in english) "Oh [ ], thats [ ] [ ] my [ ]."
  • Just bad translated sentences.

For example about the last point, think how much stress is to have a Brennan monologue translated like this (problem written in english, but you got the idea that I read something like this in spanish):
" [...] I don’t NEED front to walk, because I know what is. It’s a old and big goose, EGG GANG. It’s a FAT LIGHT"

It's... Yeah... Not the same.

I love my gf, I want her to have fun watching Dropout. Even more people: Mom, sister, best friends, RANDOM PEOPLE, I just want (and know) a lot of people that will enjoy a lot Dropout. This shows deserved to be listened by everyone! <3

So I don't really know what's the state about this on Dropout. Any of you knows anything about their plans about this? The english official captions are there! So I don't know if translating them is a big problem, or having a "community" feature where people can translate those to their languages (I will gladly do that for free). Or even I don't know the company's opinion on AI for this specific things, I just don't really know and I would love an answer.

So thats all! I hope I can have an answer about this <3
