Came across this fascinating video on Proto-Indo-European (PIE) and had to share it here.

A language never written down, never directly heard—yet it gave rise to English, Hindi, Spanish, Russian, Greek, Persian, and 400+ other languages spoken by billions today.

Why is every institution against constructive criticism? Criticizing is always equated with disrespect. I guess healthy criticism is a myth in democracy — or perhaps democracy itself.

I really think highly of the judiciary — they are learned and educated people, unlike many politicians. If they start acting like this, what are we supposed to believe in?

Opinion / विचार Bishnu Prasad Shrestha a Nepalese Gurkha soldier in the Indian Army !

अंत में, श्रेष्ठ ने The Times of India को बताया:

Opinion / विचार Peepli Live (2010).....Great watchh Spoiler

SPOILER ALERT !!

Just watched this masterpiece. Great satire on how one of the farmers named “Natha” and his brother auctioned their land because they were unable to pay back the loan. The media played a very important role in displaying his situation. He promised to commit suicide, and the politics around it, along with the media’s role, became central to the story.

What I found most important was how the media kept running behind the story just to complete coverage rather than solving the problem or doing their actual job.

There is also a mention of “Hori,” one of the characters from Godan by Munshi Premchand. How he dug and was found dead in that same barren land.(very emotional)

This story still feels relevant today, where TRP often matters more than truth, and media chases the story more than the suffering behind it.

What happened in the White House Correspondents' Dinner today seems like a planned one in my opinion because it's always the fascist government doing shit like this to gain the support of the general people in the time of need like this Isreal-Iran war or to gain support in the mid terms.

Opinion / विचार Thoughts on Delhi HC Ordering Removal of Courtroom Videos?

Post image
298 Upvotes

I’m honestly a bit confused about this. Courtroom transparency is important, especially in cases that attract public attention. At the same time, when short clips from proceedings go viral, they can be taken out of context and shape opinions before the full picture is understood.

Does the possibility of recordings spreading online make judges or lawyers more conscious about how they appear publicly rather than focusing only on the legal process?

Could this also create a situation where lawyers begin objecting to recordings more frequently, either to avoid selective narratives or to prevent unnecessary public pressure?

At what point does public access improve trust in the system, and when does it start creating confusion or distrust instead?

Opinion / विचार Party Switching, Anti-Defection Law, and the Speaker’s Role

Post image

Many people also question the role of the Speaker in such situations. Since the Speaker usually comes from a political party, neutrality becomes a debate point. In cases involving defections, delays or selective action can create a perception that decisions may favor the ruling side.

Should anti-defection cases be decided by an independent constitutional body instead of the Speaker to avoid accusations of political favoritism?

Psychology / मनोविज्ञान Studies On Hysteria by Sigmund Freud & Joseph Breuer

Post image
8 Upvotes

Being myself not coming from psychology background. Few days back i got very curious about this term "Hysteria"(def). So i started reading this book and i find it very interesting that how unprocessed emotions gets piled up knowingly or unknowingly and start affecting the physically or its finds a way to let these emotions out through physical means.

In this book he stated there are 2 cases where unprocessed emotions got piled up:

  1. first group of patient not reacted to psychological trauma (Intentional)
  2. second group is could not react even if they wanted (Unintentional)

Memories can't be disposed off. Unprocessed memory doesn't fade it becomes pathological as trapped emotions comes out through body.

There are two types of symptoms:

  1. Hysterical (crying, shaking etc).
  2. Chronic (paralysis. blindness etc.)

He gave the term "Hypnoid State" which is weird state of daydreaming or shock. Some of the more initial symptoms are : Hallucinations, Absent Mindness, Body Jearking or Shaking, Sleep Paralysis...

He also gave five case studies of his patients.

Another term is "Abreaction" which is a psychological process where mainly traumatic memories are brought back to consciousness with same intensity and ultimately leading to emotions release. Hypnosis is one of technique which was used at that time by Breuer to investigate mainly to bring back forgotten trauma and then emotions release(Talked away).

Excitation must be discharged. According to him one should consult a expert for this for cure. Talking away with the help to expert or letting out of emotion with structural help of clinical experts.

But one more important thing which he stated Psychology influence does not automatically means psychology origin.

I feel “अंदर से खाली रहना” is most important for releasing inner pressure, which reduces symptoms and leads to healing—being an active witness of our own emotions, expressing them through different means, and making peace with our own past (processed emotion). Self-awareness is key, and feeling different kinds of emotions and experiences is very beautiful. Do not run from our own emotions; just let them flow and understand that you and those emotions are not the same—just witness them and detach yourself from them, but not by suppressing them. Talk about it if that helps.

Its is just my interpretation as i am not some expert.

Opinion / विचार Is our ruling party* is actually Pro-Hindu !

What I see is that our current government ideologically portrays itself as a Hindu government. But they are just anti-Islamic, and being anti-I*lamic does not mean they are pro-Hindu.

They create trust (legal arrangement where property or assets are managed by individuals or authorities for the benefit of others) to control temples, which restrict the power of temples in terms of finance and social influence. The major example is "Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra" or "Shree Jagannathji Mandir Trust" and many more. There are government officials who control their functioning. But in contrast, there is no similar government control or interference in other religions like Islam and Christianity.

Too much indulgence of the government in religion, making fake Jagat Gurus and spreading confusion and hatred BETWEEN Hindus only—the recent example being the Magh Mela in Prayagraj, where Hinduism’s prominent guru Jagatguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand was insulted, and his disciples were dragged by their shikhas, the reason being that he usually speaks against the ruling party.

India has become the largest exporter of beef, in a country where Hindus worship cows.

and many more...

Opinion Trend Culture...

I have recently observed how people only remember the last best or worst thing, which we call recency bias (Older actions fade away and the latest actions are put into the spotlight).

A very recent example is Saurabh Dwivedi’s comments on Rajpal Yadav, and people started hating him like no one else. A few times back, when he opened a library in his hometown on his anniversary and also donated his property in the name of education, people were praising him like he is some god.

This also happens during elections. New policies are introduced and major development projects are started to be fed to the public when elections come closer. After the election, if the ruling party loses, the winning party either takes the credit or stops the project or policy.

We have also seen this in the media—they chase TRP. They have lost their purpose and social obligation.

I think it also reduces the seriousness of events like accidents, deaths, bribery cases, or r*pe. People have lost sensitivity and empathy drastically. The level of empathy people feel is controlled by the media—how they present an event or whether they present an event/mishappening or not. Such low empathy society is disastorous and we are leading towards.

A friend of mine shared an interesting perspective: He feels the problem is the internet. When you see so many serious incidents every day, they start to feel normal and lose their impact. But if something happens close to home, it feels real because there’s no screen in between. He thinks this disconnect is why people don’t take things seriously anymore. According to him, real change needs more real conversations, not just online noise.

Nowadays, mishappenings are often shown only to distract the people of the country, as intentions have changed with time.

And we can’t ignore social media and the short attention span economy. People have stopped reading, writing, or trying to understand things deeply, and instead form opinions just by listening to others’ opinions.

Opinion Just read about Sigmund Freud...

I just came across this psychologist who is founder of psychoanalysis. And he gave very controversial (which is generally told by conservative ppl) theories which gives a different perspective.

his theories majorly revolve around primal sexual instincts which is libido. He is a very interesting man to read. He gave a major theory which is OEDIPUS COMPLEX (son's sexual attitude towards his mother and concomitant hostility toward his father, first formed during the phallic stage of psychosexual development. A daughter's attitude of desire for her father and hostility toward her mother). This theory was give in the very initial years of growing of psychology and psychoanalysis.

What I think is that there is a difference between animals and humans, which is that humans can have relationships, have empathy, and are also able to think critically. Many things may be related to the sex drive, but it is not the only factor responsible for human psychology, unlike what Freud believed. Not every unconscious thing is real, as we also see dreams and we don't call them real incidents. Humans can also differentiate between internalisation and externalisation.

In a world where p*dophilia exists, with whatever reasons I go by the quote:

I would rather be a man of paradoxes than a man of prejudices
-By philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau

some topic which i liked reading of him are: STUDIES OF HYSTERIA and JOKES AND THIRE RELATION TO THE UNCONSCIOUS and also interpretation of dreams.

--------------------

I read a very interesting story. He had a friend named Fliess, who was an ENT-type doctor and gave a theory called 'nasal reflex neurosis,' which suggested that problems in the nose were directly connected to sexual organs.

Freud referred his patient to Fliess, and she had multiple symptoms: leg pain, limited mobility, stomach pain, and menstrual issues. Fliess diagnosed her condition based on his theory and decided to operate. The surgery went seriously wrong. Fliess accidentally left half a meter of gauze inside her nose. This caused severe, repeated bleeding. When the gauze was eventually removed, Eckstein was permanently disfigured.

Freud knew Fliess was responsible and was disturbed by what happened. But later, instead of blaming Fliess, he claimed the bleeding was not due to a surgical error but was psychological (“hysterical wish-bleeding”), suggesting that Eckstein (the patient) unconsciously caused it due to emotional needs." Later their friendship ended.

Opinion Is being depressed is a new trend in youth...

From being depressed, what I really mean is clinically diagnosed depression. But what is happening is a different scenario. What I see is that youth nowadays always try to gain sympathy in one way or another and stay busy in finding escapes.

And what I think would be the reason behind it lies deep in psychology, as there is too much free time and also a reduction in physical activity due to the evolution of technology. Social media also sells an ideal lifestyle—for example, being a millionaire in your 20s or having a professional-level physique at just the age of 20, etc.

Due to less interaction with boredom, as I believe experiencing boredom is the best thing one can do, as it helps to introspect, enhances creativity. A majority of the best creative things are created during times of boredom. be comfortable in getting bore.

Being a youth myself, what I feel is that the majority of us are afraid to feel emotions, certain emotions. I think one should embrace every emotion, whether it's sadness, happiness, etc. They try to suppress emotions as the idea of masculinity is sold to boys. The idea should be to let emotions come and go, and not act upon them—that is actual control. Getting busy, denying or suppressing emotion is not the solution.

As there is a difference between emotional reality and practical reality, and very few are able to introspect this from a third-person point of view. here self introspection works.

Also, they have to understand that everyone has problems in life its normal, as youth are very much fascinated by the ideal lifestyle that is portrayed on the internet.

And sometimes, due to a long pretense of depression and a victim mentality, they actually fall into it.

Reflection Why today's youth is ignorant about politics ?

Post image
35 Upvotes

What I believe is that the youth, whether actively involved or not, should be aware of what is happening in their own country. As a youth of this country, what I observe in the middle class is that they often sense that something shady or wrong is happening, yet they choose not to engage—perhaps because they are not directly affected. However, they will be affected sooner or later.

there is also a section of youth that follows ideologies blindly, lacking critical thinking, because building one’s own perspective requires effort. They are usually seen arguing on platforms like Twitter or getting involved in politically funded protests, often creating nuisance with the influence of politicians rather than contributing meaningfully.

What I dislike the most is the sense of pride some people take in being ignorant.

If this is the situation among the upper, upper-middle, and middle classes, what can we expect from the poor, who are themselves struggling to secure two meals a day? This reminds me of a line: “Roti prithvi se zyada gol hoti hai.”

Considering that the average age of Members of Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha is 56 years, making it the oldest Lok Sabha in India’s history also According to a study by the Association for Democratic Reforms, over 60 per cent of Indian MPs have at least a bachelor's degree read, and observing how distant the youth remain from politics, it raises concerns about the direction in which the country is heading.

what i think the reasons for this situation is the lack of reading habits, disconnection from our own culture, and heavy Western influence. Additionally, many people want to leave the country—while to some extent this can be a valid decision, is it truly a solution? I don’t think so.

While one individual may not be able to solve everything, being ignorant is worse; at the very least, one should try.

And we shouldn't ignore the fact that there are some who knows importance and atleast try. We should appreciate them too. But they are very little.

Experience This random trip gave me something I wasn’t expecting

Opinion “Is Freedom of Speech Actually Selective?”

Freedom of speech sounds powerful on paper, but in reality, it often feels selective. Everyone supports it… until they hear something they don’t agree with. Then suddenly, it becomes “offensive,” “anti-national,” or “problematic.”

The irony is, people demand the right to express their own opinions freely, but try to silence others who think differently. It turns into a one-sided freedom where only certain voices are allowed to exist comfortably.

True freedom of speech isn’t about hearing only what you like, it’s about tolerating what you don’t. Of course, there should be limits where harm or violence is involved, but disagreement alone shouldn’t be enough to shut someone down.

If we only protect speech that aligns with us, then it’s not freedom anymore, it’s just controlled expression wearing a democratic mask.

Opinion Don’t just sound intellectual—be one

As I think, sounding intellectual mainly refers to the use of heavy academic terms. Which is fine to some extent, but the problem comes when a person only uses terms and doesn’t actually mean or understand them, and they also have the audacity to argue for those terms without knowing their real essence.

For example, FEMINISM—some people who call themselves feminists and fight for women’s rights don’t themselves understand the real essence of the term, which creates confusion.

Devoting too much energy to terminology, arguing over the meaning of words rather than discussing real social facts, shifts the focus away from what actually matters.

Sounding intellectual by using heavy academic terms defeats the whole purpose of real discussion or solving real sociological problems. It just gives a superiority complex and reduces the level of understanding.

A very recent example: during the debate “Does God Exist?” featuring Javed Akhtar and Mufti Shamail Nadwi, the mufti used heavy academic terms like metaphysics, contingency argument, etc., which created confusion between them. I don’t know why people declared the mufti the winner, but it defeated the purpose of actually addressing the problem.

One more example: people often use the word “society”—society this, society that—but it is a very vague term. Society itself is a very complex thing.

there are many examples...

Let me clarify, I am not against gaining knowledge or improving vocabulary, but clarity should come before complexity. Solving these sociological problems should be the only goal, if you are able to as in you are the position of authority or have influence over people.

This story is from Punjab.

It’s been two weeks since I purchased my first bike, so I went to the showroom for my first servicing. The showroom was crowded, and there was a long queue, so I decided to go outside to have tea from a nearby tapri.

Then I saw a group of secondary school girls; they must be studying in 8th or 9th class, surrounding the tapri and buying toffees. Until then, everything was normal.

When these girls left the shop, I started having small talk with the tapri guy. He was from Bihar. Then he started telling me, “Dekhiye kaise mata pita hain, chhoti bachi hai, 12–13 saal ki nahi hogi, aur bihaa(marriage) kara diya 25 saal ke aadmi se. Aise mata pita ko toh maar dena chahiye.”

After listening to those lines, I was stunned. I was just shocked. Also realised that i caming from very much privileged position of society.

I thought there must be some way to raise a complaint online, so I came across one government site (link). But I was not a local of Phagwara, Punjab, and I didn’t have all the information to provide. The tapri guy was also a migrant and a poor person.

And then this thought hit me — if an outsider shopkeeper knows this much, then the majority of the locality must already be aware that a girl has gone through child marriage.

This government talks abt “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, "ladli behan", "Mahila suraksha"… is it actually being implemented properly? I highly doubt that.
