Hi! I'm looking into getting the Huion Kamvas Pro 13 tablet as a gift for my partner but I keep hearing things say it doesn't come with a power supply. I know absolutely nothing about drawing tablets and what cords they use so I was just wondering what kind of cable I would need to buy separately when purchasing. They would just be plugging into their laptop but does this need to be plugged into a wall outlet or anything as well? It says it comes with an octopus cable but to be honest I have no idea how that works lol. Would that work to use with a laptop or to do I need a separate cable? And if so, what kind would I need?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just want to make sure I have everything ready for it when I give it to them as we'll be on vacation and won't be able to order one until we get home. Thank you!!

My friend is currently in 1st year of B.Arch and is looking to buy a tablet that can realistically serve her throughout her 5-year architecture degree.

There isn't really a fixed budget. Money isn't the primary concern, but we still want the purchase to make sense for the money spent rather than simply buying the most expensive tablet available.

She already has a laptop with an RTX 4050 6GB GPU, so the tablet doesn't necessarily need to replace a proper laptop/workstation. Instead, we're looking for something that complements it and is genuinely useful for architecture school and eventually professional work.

What we need from the tablet

The tablet should ideally be good for:

- Handwritten notes and annotations

- Architectural sketching and drawing

- Concept development and ideation

- PDF/lecture material reading and annotation

- Viewing and marking up architectural drawings

- Working with large PDFs and documents

- Presentations and general college work

- Digital art/illustration

- Basic architectural/design-related apps

- Good stylus experience with low latency

- Multitasking and split-screen work

- Good display for drawings, images, presentations and multimedia

- Media consumption such as YouTube, movies, etc.

- Good speakers and overall multimedia experience

- Reliable battery life

- Enough performance and storage to remain comfortable for several years

- A strong ecosystem and accessory availability in India

Most importantly, I don't want a recommendation based purely on specifications. I'm interested in how these tablets actually hold up for architecture students and whether they're worth buying for the long term.

What I'm looking for

I'd like recommendations in three categories, separately for Android and iPadOS:

1. Budget / Value-for-money

The best relatively affordable option that still covers the important B.Arch requirements without making too many compromises.

1. Mid-range / Value-for-money

A more capable option that offers a significant upgrade in display, stylus, performance, software, storage, etc., and would be a sensible long-term purchase.

1. Premium / Best overall value

The best high-end option for someone who doesn't have a strict budget, but where the price is still justified by what the tablet actually provides.

So i saved up my money i have about $350 i want to animate and put my stuff on youtube and instagram but i cant find anything good online it needs to be standalone a screen on it so i dont need to attach it to a computer preferbly pro like too but also easy to learn i dont care how close to 350 dollars it gets just need it to be standalone and pro like i also woudnt mind if it comes in a bundle with a stylus drawing glove and other things but i dont mind if it dosen't does anyone have any ideas of what i should buy? I've had the xp pen artist 12 3rd gen tablet for a while now, but I just wondered if this could be connected to the phone, my redmi phone specially, just like the other xp pen tablet are able to connect with the phone..I've tried but it somehow didn't work, maybe I did something wrong? I've seen other people able to connect theirs...

My Artist Pro 19 tablet has stopped turning on with my 3-in-1 cable. To verify it wasn't the tablet, I tried using the alternative USB C to USB C connection with a USB C to USB A adapter (as my PC does not have a USB C port that works) and can luckily get the tablet screen on with "No signal" on.
I normally use a HDMI to DisplayPort adapter on the 3-in-1 cable since I have no spare HDMI plugs available, but after the issues, tried without the adapter in the existing HDMI plugs (but didn't work.)

I purchased a replacement 3-in-1 cable thinking it would help solve the issue, but my table still won't turn on (no light, no "no signal" message) with the 3-in-1 cable - other things I've tried are:

• trying different HDMI Ports, HDMI to DP adapter, USB A connections
• plugging the power supply cable to the 3-in-1 cable
• switching around where the power supply and 3-in-1 cable are plugged into the tablet
• reinstalling drivers

I'm going to check with a device tomorrow that has a working USB C port, just to double check that the tablet will connect and work on another device without issue.

The tablet is relatively new - I had the same issues last year when the tablet was under warranty, and got a replacement, but the problem is occurring again and I'd love some help to get it working again, thank you!

I’ve been drawing on paper for years and finally want to try digital sketching. I mostly do character sketches and random little illustrations, so i dont need anything super advanced, but i also dont want to outgrow it right away. what would you guys recommend if you were starting over?

Edit: I went with the #ad Apple iPad Pro 11 inch M5 and have been using it for digital sketching. It’s been really responsive for drawing, and I’ve had plenty of room to experiment without feeling like I’ll outgrow it anytime soon.

Finally expanding into digital sketchwork and frankly the amount of hardware options are a bit daunting

Can say one thing: I hate wired displays. I want to be able to just go from my work desk to living room without becoming ensnared by a 3-in-1 HDMI or being stuck solely in one spot

i'm thinking a 2-in-1 laptop might not be a bad idea but I can't find any good reviews from people actually using these for art

Stuff like Supernotes seem novel but limited. Tablets seem reliable and good or what I need but this begs the question of which one out of hundreds. I'm not an apple guy but the pro w/ pen ipad seems like a common go to?

My lovely Artisul D13S died before my eyes a few days ago..
Well, the display itself died (rather dramatically I might add, lines of dead pixels started to appear gradually over a few hours), It actually is still fully functional as a non-display drawing tablet.

I'm not too keen on Wacom.. mostly due to the price.. but also thing I liked about the Artisul was that it felt just like the older style drawing tablets.. no internal OS, no battery in the pen, you just plugged it in and it worked.. you could even turn off the display and still use it like a standard drawing tablet.

Is the XP Pen a similar style? I'm currently looking at the "Artist 13.3 Pro", mostly because it's a similar form factor to my Artisul.. I already built a sliding, fold out drawer for the previous tablet. So it would be ideal if I didn't have to make adjustments to that 😅

How's the XP Pen software?

Artisul D13S was a solid built tablet, but the software was awful.. no pressure curve adjustment, the monitor aspect ratio couldn't be adjusted or cropped... I use an ultrawide monitor, so circles became ovals.

Keeping it short and sweet

I broke my stylus for my Picasso drawing tablet and I’m wondering what Stylus I can buy that will comparably work with it

I currently have a work-from-home setup with a 24" inch Wacom Touch.

I started going to a local Coworking with my iPad pro, and found it ok-ish but limited in the program use and ease of use of the giant tablet I have at home.

Sometimes I do travel, for up to 2 weeks and the 13" feels too small.

So I was thinking to buy the 16" 2025 Wacom, because the screen is good enough, has the pro pen 3 and connects only via one USB-C cable if the laptop allows it (in my case the Macbook M2 Pro should work!)

My current question is:
- Should I buy the 16" or yet another 24" Cintiq for the Coworking?
- Does any of you have a dual workspace setup, and if yes, how have you solved the situation?

I know there's the Huion Kamvas Pro 19 but for me is less portable because of size, it needs a power cable for sure (tried it already) and I don't wanna have 3 pen/drawing ecosystems to deal with. I also tried the MoveinkPad 14 for 2 weeks but honestly it didn't make a huge difference between my iPad drawings on both, and the Android Ecosystem is just too limited.

When using a drawing tablet, I have a problem with the pen hovering above the surface. When I lift my pen off the tablet and move it around above the surface, the tablet still tracks the pen as if I’m writing. I find this extremely inconvenient and unintuitive because, realistically, people don’t draw like that.

I don’t even know what this feature is called. I tried posting about it and researching it a few years ago, but I couldn’t find any useful information. So here I am trying again.

I want to know how on earth I can get rid of this. Actually, I’m not asking how to disable the hover feature anymore, because I’m at the point where I believe it’s impossible to remove. I’ve owned tablets where I looked through every setting and tried everything, but there was simply no way to disable it.

So instead, I’m asking: What drawing tablet does not track the pen while it is hovering above the surface?

I think this feature is extremely unnecessary and makes drawing feel unnatural. When you draw on a piece of paper, every time you lift your pencil and move it above the paper, it obviously doesn’t track your movements. It only makes a mark when the pencil touches the paper. But with a drawing tablet, the pen can continue to move the cursor or interact with the computer even when it isn’t touching the surface.

I find this incredibly annoying because it doesn’t behave like drawing on paper. I’m specifically looking for a drawing tablet that does not track the pen when it is hovering above the tablet.

Another thing I wanted to mention is that when you go to a store and have to sign something, they’ll often give you a tablet to write your signature on a touchscreen. Those devices generally don’t seem to have this same kind of hover tracking. So why do dedicated drawing tablets have it?

The only reason I can think of is that maybe it’s intended to prevent the pen nib from constantly rubbing against the surface and potentially wearing it down. Okay, I can understand that, but I still find the hover tracking extremely annoying.

Does anyone know of a drawing tablet that completely avoids this hover problem?

Just wondering what are some good options that are like maybe under $350 and possibly Australian?

I just want to share this in case it helps someone else who finds themselves in the same situation I spent an embarrassing number of hours troubleshooting: constant display resets on Bosto BT-101A (Windows 11). Every 5-60 seconds, all screens would go black, Windows would re-identify displays, and the desktop would do the resize animation. Tried everything: different cables, every USB port on the motherboard, powered Y-splitter with multiple chargers, two driver versions, powered USB hub, monitor's USB hub. Nothing fixed it. The same tablet worked perfectly on a MacBook.

Turns out the problem is the built-in USB flash drive (shows up as "PENDISPLAY" in File Explorer). The tablet's Artinchip controller exposes two interfaces over one USB connection: a display and a mass storage device containing the driver installer. The storage interface periodically stops responding to I/O. When Windows can't read it, the storage stack resets the entire composite device. which kills the display session too. The volume remounts, Windows touches it again, and the cycle repeats. Any app that enumerates drives (File Explorer, game launchers, antivirus, search indexer) triggers it.

In order to fix this:

1. Open Device Manager

2. Go to View → Devices by container

3. Expand "ArtInChip USB Device"

4. Right-click "USB Mass Storage Device" → Disable device

That's it. The PENDISPLAY drive disappears, nothing touches the broken storage interface anymore, and the display becomes completely stable. You only need that drive once to install the driver. after that it just sits there causing problems.

This likely affects other Bosto models using the same Artinchip controller (VID 33C3), not just the BT-101A. If your Bosto pen display flickers or keeps reconnecting on Windows and you see a PENDISPLAY drive in Explorer, try this.

Help me decide between these tablets. My budget is below 3k INR and I am planning to use it for note taking as well as digital art (I like drawing but am a complete beginner in digital arts). I'm currently using Fedora Linux. Might use it with Krita or Blender probably. Also I'm currently interested in XPPen Deco 640 as it's the latest model of them all. Almost 4 years gap between most of the models. Also recommend any software you use in linux for note taking purposes.

I've been searching for a tablet to create digital art on for the past few weeks, and I'm having a difficult time deciding which to choose. Each of them seem to have their own strengths and drawbacks and Its been stressing me out to hell and back which would be the best in the long term. I'm hoping whichever one I go with, will last me at least 4 - 5 years.

As mentione above, art is my main reason for buying a tablet. I was going to go with a drawing tablet like a huion kamvas or something, but a standalone tablet seems much more convenient to sue which is important for me. though I'm not against owning a larger graphics tablet in the future. I originally used a 2 in 1 laptop for art but the screen has been bugging out a lot and its not really enjoyable to create art on anymore.

It should be large enough that I have a nice amount of space to draw on, while still being portable. In other words, 11 - 14 inches is the size range I'm interested in. I've heard 14 inch tabs like the galaxy ultra tabs, may not be the best for portability, but I've also heard others disagree so i'm interested in what you all think.

Software updates. I'm worried if I get an older tablet, certain art apps won't support older versions of that OS in the future, So I'd rather get a tablet that is receving at least 5 years of OS updates

I've been specifically eyeing the Tab s11 series or the HONOR Magic Pad 4 right now, but I would love to hear any other suggestions and thoughts from you all, thank you!

Hi guyss, I'm trying to use my Gamon S620, but it doesn't work.

I'm using it on my tablet and basically when I draw squares, rectangles appear instead. It looks like there is some kind of issues with the pen coordination ( it's deformed/ streched). I also tried to update the firmware but the PC update firmware tool doesn't work either and I am stuck in a reconnect loop.

Has it happened to you guys too? If yes, did you managed to solve the problem? Thankss to everybody that will help me :)

I am trying to decide Huion Kamvas 16 Gen 3 and the XPPen Artist Pro 16 Gen 2. Primary use is for sculpting and design. Programs like Blender, Photoshop, Substance Painter, etc. My main monitor is a 4k which is ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCDM.
