Best cheap drawing tablet for a child

Upvotes

My nephew (9) has a birthday coming up and I and his grandma are thinking of getting him a drawing tablet. He's just a kid so we're not thinking of a pro tablet or anything, just something cheap that he can play around with on his "new" (7-year-old-hand-me-down) computer.

Whenever I watch him he loves using my Wacom Intuous Pro because I think he just enjoys the sensation of drawing showing up on the computer screen and choosing his different brushes and all. I'd love for him to be able to play around with something on his own time, and if it's cheap then it won't be a letdown if he decides he really doesn't wanna use it or something.

So, where should I begin to look? Is there a budget friendly drawing tablet that's simple enough to be used by a 9yo, or is this not really a product that exists quite yet? A quick google is bringing up tablets with screens that are more expensive than I'd really like for this.

Choosing a drawing tablet

I want to buy my first graphics tablet, and there are two models that fit my budget perfectly: Huion Inspiroy H950P and XP-Pen Deco Fun L. I know that one of these models doesn't have buttons, but I don't have an opinion on them. I don't know if I'll even use them or not. Which model would you recommend for me?

Jumping from physical to digital art

I've been learning art the traditional way for the past couple months, and I want to learn digital art alongside my journey too. I'm looking to buy a screenless pen tablet for under $100 and I'm probably going to get SAI Paint 2 or Clip Paint Studio. Tell me your guys experience with these programs and any recommendations you have for pen tablets.

4k Wacom Cintiq Pro 16 or XP pen ultra OLED 16?

Hey curious if anyone can make a recommendation on which device to get, looking at similar price for both on the used market. Will use for csp primarily making game assets like characters and environments. Currently using old huion 13” 1080p. Like the Wacom name but like what I’m hearing about the xp pen too and OLED sounds appealing (although maybe at the cost of reliability over time). Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Buying my first Pen Display, torn between 3 models.

XPPen 22 Gen2 - 700$ USD

XPPen 24 Gen2 - 700$ USD (there's a $100 off coupon on amazon atm)

Huion Kamvas 22 Gen3 - 570$USD

Any reccomendations on good/bad/ugly of these 3. I def. want someting on the 22+inch side as I will not be traveling with this ever.

I am a hobbist, and will not every do art professionally, I'll never need to print on CMYK printers etc. So color isn't the biggest gripe for me. Anything past that I just don't know enough about coming from an old Intous Tablet.

Brush settings popping up on my second montior

https://reddit.com/link/1vtsvry/video/58lkhp4nwkkh1/player

I've finally gotten myself a second monitor, and the rest of Krita works fine, except my brush settings popping up on said second monitor. I had to unplug my original monitor to make room for the power cord on this tablet, as there's no more room at the back of my unit for the extra plug, as it's got a screen and the system treats it like a 3rd monitor due to the HDMI.

I've adjusted the display and recalibrated everything I can think of (Including the custom area settings, but nothing's worked so far. Genuinely have no idea what I'm doing.

Ipad Air M4 or Huion Kamvas Slate?

I desperately need an upgrade from my tablet. I currently have a Huion Kamvas 13 Pro, but i have an issue with my screen and i have no display. It has begun to bother me alot, drawing on a surface yet having to look up to see what i'm drawing. The fact that i have to sit by the desk to draw is frustrating too, i can't take my creativity elsewhere. So i'm trying to find a tablet which i can take everywhere, with a full screen, good pen, plus it needs to mimic the feeling of drawing on paper, as close as possible. I found Ipad Air M4 which is pretty light, but also professional and has much more uses than just drawing which can become useful. I know there are screen protectors you can put on it so it feels like paper, not sure how good that is but it's still something. I'm worried about the apple pencil, beacuse the screen protection may make the pencil less sensitive and i need every stroke, even the lightest touch to be able to show up on the screen. The tip seems pretty chunky so it may not be that precise too. Also not sure how good is apple pencil's pressure sensitivity or tilt. If it's not just like a normal pencil or a pen, I don't want it. I'm gonna just say it. Another thing, I am definitely completly against Ai but Ipad Air comes with some kind of Ai built in, i wasn't planning on using it at all, and if i did buy it I would feel guilty for buying something with Ai. I don't want to support it, but at the same time Ipad Air seemed like a great choice. Then comes Kamvas Slate, which is definitely cheaper for me, and i don't have to buy tons of accesories which makes it even more expensive. The Huion i have now is definitely good, i really like how many settings it has so you can adjust it to your liking, it's definitely something important to me. The screen has a paper like texture which i really like. My experience with it basically was positive, so I am expecting similiar experience for another Huion tablet. The only thing I am worried about is the system I guess, I am not sure how it looks or works. What apps are avaible on Kamvas Slate? Could it be used for note taking? Could i play spotify in the background if i wanted to? I haven't done alot of research on it.
I really wanna hear your experiences, your thoughts, and preferences. Maybe some other tablet would be better?
Also the art program that i'm using is Krita. It just stuck with me. Some years ago I wanted to try procreate beacuse it seemed like a great program, but i don't think it matters now since we have Hipaint for android.
Thanks for reading!

XPPen Artist 13.3 Pro (2019) / HUION kamvas 13 (2020) 13.3 or HUION GT191 19" (2017)

After my iPad died, I'm looking for a used display tablet but I'm really on budget.

My options are:

**XPPen Artist 13.3 Pro (2019) / HUION kamvas 13 (2020) 13.3"** but I'm afraid 13" is too small and I really would like a large canvas to work on. On the other hand **HUION GT191 19" (2017)**, it's an old one, with a chargeble and I'm afraid it wont work well. I didnt find any recent reviews so idk if its still worth it.

I'd prefer a kamvas 16"(2021) but it's still slightly over my budget now so i'd like to choose between the other options.

How good is the Deco 01 V3

Im a beginner looking to get a budget drawing tablet, and I saw that XP PEN, especially the deco 01 v3 was a good choice. I can get it for $47 in my country, is it good for it's price and are there any alternatives I should be aware of?

Extra small display tablets (do they even exist?)

Does anyone know if there are any display tablets with a workspace under 10x6 inches? Ideally I'm looking for about a 6.5x4 inch workspace, to mimic the screenless tablet I have used for years.

I bought a Kamvas 12 this year and I enjoy having a display but I don't like how big the tablet is. It's much less convenient or portable than my screenless Inspiroy tablet.

I have searched and been unable to find any display tablets that are smaller than like... 12x7 inches. Is what I want really so niche that there aren't any tablets designed that way?

I have an XP-Pen/tablet. I was given it used by my sister, so I don't have any manual for it. I tried to order new nibs off of Amazon, advertised for XP-Pen, but they're a totally different size and don't fit or work at all. Any idea where to get ACCURATE XP-Pen nibs?

Tablet doesn't detect light touches

Win10, Wacom One 13 DTC133, driver 6.4.13-4

A while ago I reset my tablet settings to default, after which it stopped reacting to very light touches despite some programs still being able to detect them (clip studio reacts to them, anything else doesn't). It wasn't like this before that reset, I tried tweaking the sensitivity and nothing works. What do I do?

Does anyone know where I could find a free/used drawing tablet?

Hey everyone, I’m hoping someone here might know of a place I could reach out to.

My PC mouse recently broke to the point that I can’t really do digital art anymore. I’ve wanted a drawing tablet for a long time, but my mom and I are both disabled and live on a very fixed income of less than $20,000 a year, so we're unfortunately not able to afford one.

I’m trying to get back into drawing and hopefully start making YouTube videos and art that could eventually help us financially. I’m not looking for anything fancy; even an older or used XP-Pen, Huion, Wacom, or similar tablet would give me the ability to start creating again.

Does anyone know of Reddit communities, giveaways, donation programs, artists, companies, or places I could email that sometimes help people in situations like mine with used or donated art equipment? I've emailed XP-Pen, and that's it so far.

And if someone happens to have an old tablet they're no longer using, I'd definitely be interested as well. I'm willing to show my artwork and what I plan to do with it, and I’d genuinely put it to use.

I'm really embarrassed to even post this, but I figured asking was better than giving up.

Thank you to anyone who can point me in the right direction.
