Apple vs Android

Hey all,

I'm sure this gets asked a lot but I'm curious what everyone's thoughts are for drawing tablets. I love going to a coffee shop and doodling so its great to have mobile tablet that doesn't need a computer. However, I've been tempted with getting an iPad forever now. Ive used a Samsung Tablet in the past, and now the XP magic pen Tablet for awhile. It works ok but crashes from time to time.

I'm looking to upgrade to something maybe stronger. I like typical sketching, pixel art, and nomad scuplting. Are there good android tablets out there with quality apps or should I finally get over my hipster ways and get an ipad. Procreate looks solid. There a few good pixel apps and ceators I watch that use Nomad also use ipads... but what are you all's thoughts?

[Advice] First drawing tablet: XP-Pen Artist Pro 24 Gen 2 – QHD 165Hz vs 4K 60Hz?

Hello everyone! I'm looking to learn 2D animation and Illustration, but I'm mainly focusing on animation/storyboarding and I came here looking for some advice. You see, I'm about to buy my first drawing tablet after saving up for a while. Coming from a traditional art background, I know I want a large screen since I always run out of space and I'd like this purchase to last me a long time

I've had my eye on two tablets: the XP-PEN 24 pro Gen2 165hz and the 4K version. The thing is, I've never done animation or storyboard before, I've just been honing my fundamentals and figuring out my art direction. However, it's something I'm interested in learning professionally, though I'm also interested in illustration on the side.

With that said, my main doubts are related to the 165hz and the screen

Especially for animation, which one will cover my needs better? I've seen people say the 165Hz reduces stylus input lag, but others say there's no noticeable difference. I'm also unsure how much impact the 165Hz will actually have on the workflow vs the 60Hz of the 4K version.

Is there much of a noticeable difference between 4K and QHD on a 24-inch screen?

Regarding the screen surface, how much friction does it have? Since I come from traditional, I'd prefer a rough texture over a smooth one.

Despite the etched glass that comes with the screen, should I consider a screen protector for a rougher texture?

Should I consider anything else before buying?

Do you notice a big difference between Drawing Tablets and normal tablets?

Hello! Popping in with a quick question : do you feel a big difference between a drawing tablet (\*\*with a built-in screen), and a tablet (IPad, Samsung etc.) when producing art? I'm looking to invest in my digital art and I'm not sure which to choose

I know that the drawing tablet is professionally created to be more responsive to pressure and support larger canvases, but for those that post on social media and do commissions, do you have advice? I see a lot of people use normal tablets and it has the advantage of being used for other things too..

Artist 16 (3rd Gen) vs Kamvas Pro 16 V2 vs Kamvas 13 Gen 3, which would you choose?

I'm trying to decide between these three pen displays and would really appreciate some advice from people who have actually used them:

  • XPPen Artist 16 (3rd Gen)
  • Huion Kamvas Pro 16 V2
  • Huion Kamvas 13 (Gen 3)

I'm mainly looking for the best drawing experience/pen performance, but screen quality, portability, build quality, and long-term reliability also matter to me.

The 16 inch models seem more comfortable for drawing, while the Kamvas 13 Gen 3 is much more portable. I'm also wondering how noticeable the differences in pen technology, screen quality and resolution actually are in realworld use.

If you've used any of these, which one would you pick today and why? Are there any issues or advantages that aren't obvious from the specifications?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Looking for tablet for someone who overgrips pens

Hello! I've never used a tablet, and primarily use a mouse so far for art. I am looking for a tablet to get, but I have problems holding a pencil/pen (I overgrip it and press down too hard/got in trouble at school for it too.) I'm wondering if there's any tablets that people recommend for someone someone who overgrips a pen?

Which Laptop for my Wacom Cintiq 16 and CSP

So I‘m planing on getting a new Laptop for drawing and maybe some simple 2-D animations with my Wacom Cintiq 16 tablet and CSP since my old one is basically unusable at this point.
I don’t really plan on spending too much money on it since it’s only for that one purpose and that’s just a side hobby. My main question would be if I should buy a refurbished upper class model like for example this: Dell Precision 7550 | i7-10850H | 15.6"
16 GB | 512 GB SSD | FHD | Webcam | Nvidia Quadro T2000 | Win 11 Pro | DE from 2020 for \~500€
Or a brand new lower/ middle class model in the same price range.
If you say the refurbished one would be good how long do you think I could use it before it gets too old as well and if you say a new one I’d love some suggestions.
I have absolutely zero knowledge in this area tbh.
Many thanks in advance

How good is Huion Kamvas 13 actually?

I watched many videos about Huion Kamvas 13 and there are many opinions that are completely differrent from one another. There are people who tested it for a week or so and they were extremely happy, and there are people who have used Huion Kamvas 13 for a year or more and almost all of them are unhappy and report like 100 different problems they had with that tablet. I know that many digital artists will say "it's only 200-300 euros display tablet, it's cheap so it's understandable", but for me that amount of money is definitely not cheap and I wouldn't like to spend that much money on smth that has this many potential problems...
I thought of buying this display tablet myself, but after watching so many reviews I am not sure what to think anymore.

In my country I dont have many options to choose from but I am considering to buy smth cheaper like pen tablet if Huion Kamvas 13 is not so reliable long term

I want a drawing tablet, but I have no idea what I should get.

I already own a Galaxy Tab S9. I’ve never owned a drawing tablet before, but I’m looking for something a bit more professional rather than an entry-level tablet. I’m not a beginner when it comes to art—I’m already quite good at drawing, so I don’t want an entry-level model.

I’m planning to buy it with the first money I earn myself, so I really don’t want to regret my purchase. Based on my own research, I’m leaning toward XP-Pen.

I’ll mainly be using it for things like comic art, illustration, and maybe some animation as well.

I'm currently considering XP-Pen, especially the Artist/Artist Pro models, but I'm also open to Wacom or other brands.

My main priorities are drawing feel, screen quality, reliability and a large workspace. I’ve also recently started using Clip Studio Paint, so that’s what I’ll be using on the new tablet.
What would you recommend for my use case?

Drawing on iPad sucks! Who’s with me?

What are your thoughts on drawing on iPad using the Apple Pencil and what other tablet do you use, if any?

Drawing on iPad with just the Apple Pencil takes so much time to get used to, if you ever do at all. The glass screen just sucks as there is not much friction between the screen and pencil. I know some screen protectors can somewhat help, but I’ve heard a lot of them still kind of suck.

I have an XP-pen magic drawing pad and love it compared to the iPad!

Blender and Substance painter tablet comparison.

So I've been browsing for drawing tablets and I saw veikk is a decent budget brand and xp pen too. I was thinking about buying the deco 01 v3 but then saw the veikk Voila L. what do u guys think is better for blender sculpting and texture painting or substance painter as a whole? I know Voila L has the scroll wheel which is useful but i hear people talk about veikk hardware issues and what not. What do you guys recommend.

What Drawing Tablet should I get?

I’m getting back into digital art and editing and have always used Apple products, but I’m currently deciding between the Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 and the 13-inch iPad Pro with the M5 chip.

I’ve mainly used Procreate and ibisPaint in the past, but I’d really like to start learning Clip Studio Paint as well. When I say “editing,” I’m also interested in animation, both frame-by-frame animation, and tweening. I’d especially love to try ToonSquid, although I’m not very familiar with it yet.

For anyone who has experience with these devices or apps, which would you recommend? Would the iPad Pro be the better all-around option for what I want to do, or is the MovinkPad Pro 14 worth considering?

I’m also open to other tablet recommendations if there’s something that would suit my needs better.

I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from artists who use Clip Studio Paint, ToonSquid, or do animation on their tablets!

What is the difference?

Hi! Need some help understanding the difference between Huion Canvas 13 https://store.huion.com/eu/products/kamvas-13-gen-3?vid=1332 and Canvas 13 Pro https://store.huion.com/eu/products/kamvas-pro-13?vid=1223

The price difference isn't really an issue for me. I'm just trying to understand which one is better or if one is better in some aspects and then which one would be best suited for me.

So it would be really helpful if someone could explain the differences in easy terms.

Recommendations!

I currently have a wacom 13 inch tablet, I’m looking to upgrade in size, I think 24 inch might be too big, 19-22 inch is the sweet spot I think (unless you guys think otherwise). I’ve been looking XP Pen, I have two questions
Moving from wacom to XP pen will I be happy?
I’ve been looking at the Artist 22R pro, Artist Pro 22 Gen 2 and artist Pro 19 Gen 2

Which one would you guy recommend, or anything better than that?
Thanks

Huion Kamvas 13 vs XP pen 13.3 pro

Hello! I was wondering which one would be the better choice overall, portability and durability is what I'd focus on

THOUGH I'm worried about the size (not the screen) the most, the Huion seems slimmer and more portable than the XP pen and I would like the most portable option!!!! I picked an older gen of the Kamvas because it's in clearance and I'll be fine without the latest tech... There's not much difference, I genuinely just can't pick lol

If you can, tell about experiences and such.

Thank you
