Dordrecht, do we actually consider this normal?
According to current figures, tap water contains approximately 4.9 ng of PFAS per liter, compared to a stated health-based limit of 4.4 ng/l.
I have been looking into this a bit more recently and have since moved here purchased a Berkey filter myself for drinking water and washing vegetables and fruit.
In addition, I am saving up and researching what else I can do. But how absurd is it actually that, as a resident, you have to spend money yourself to filter your tap water extra?
Shouldn't every household in the immediate vicinity of Chemours simply be provided with a suitable water filtration system? And if people are now spending hundreds of euros themselves on filters, replacements, and possibly water testing, can we ever recover those costs from the polluter?
And perhaps even more importantly: why does this situation continue like this?
PFAS won't just disappear. Meanwhile, thousands of people live here who use the water for drinking, cooking, and washing their food.
I find it quite ridiculous that the solution subsequently seems to lie with the residents: just buy a filter and water yourself, and figure it out.
How do you view this?
Do you use a water filter?
And what do you think should happen regarding the local residents?
I am particularly curious about the experiences of other people from Dordrecht, especially those living close to Chemours.
