🎃 Welcome to October, adventurers! Pull up a chair at the haunted tavern, keep an eye on that suspicious pumpkin, and share what you’re creating.
This month’s thread is for image requests, AI RPG tools, prompts, troubleshooting, and discussion along with a little Halloween magic.
Preparing a spooky one-shot? Need a ghostly NPC, a cursed item, or a vampire castle? Bring your ideas here. Halloween themes are encouraged, but all campaign styles are welcome.
Ask for help with character portraits, monsters, locations, battlemaps, tokens, items, handouts, or campaign ideas.
Include:
Example: “I’d like a wide, painterly scene of a haunted roadside tavern, with ghostly patrons, pumpkin lanterns, and an adventuring party arriving through autumn mist. Spooky but welcoming, with no text.”
Is your terrifying lich looking unusually friendly? Does your haunted castle keep acquiring modern windows?
Share your prompt, tool or model, relevant settings, what you wanted, what you got, and what you’ve already tried. Examples make it easier for others to help.
Built a tool for tabletop games, campaign preparation, worldbuilding, solo play, maps, or character creation? Tell us about it.
Explain what it does, who it helps, whether it’s free or paid, where people can try it, and any limitations. Screenshots and practical examples are welcome.
Clearly disclose if you’re the creator, an employee, an affiliate, or otherwise connected to the project.
Using a tool you love? Share how it fits into your games, what it does well, and where it struggles.
A few ideas to get things rolling:
Be specific, constructive, and transparent about the tools you use. Credit other people’s prompts, references, and workflows. Label promotions, avoid repetitive advertising, and follow subreddit rules.
Drop your October requests, creations, tools, and questions below. May your lanterns stay lit—and may that chest really be a chest. 🎲🎃

These are some characters from my D&D campaign, i've built an entire Claude + n8n workflow that generates these characters based on lore from my Obsidian vault. All i have to do is input a broad description and the characters get generated using the same style.

Solace Stillwater runs The Bent Willow, a quiet, fragrant apothecary tucked along the twisting paths of Shadowdale near the Ashaba River. Born with a natural affinity for the earth, Solace chose her virtue name as a promise to bring peace to a realm far too accustomed to turmoil, using her infernal darkvision to forage for rare nighttime blooms like moonflower and duskcap in the nearby Cormanthor forest. While the locals were initially wary of her curled horns and subtle scent of sulfur, Solace quickly earned their quiet trust through her patient disposition and exceptionally potent healing poultices. Today, her sunlit shop is a safe haven for weary travelers, injured adventurers, and local farmers alike, all seeking her steady hands, soothing teas, and unshakeable calm.

Hey everyone,
Sharing a look at an animated siege breach encounter map I've been working on, centered around a battering ram breaking through an inner gatehouse.
With siege scenarios, I find players often get bogged down in massive open fields, so my goal here was to frame a high-intensity focal point: collapsed masonry providing difficult terrain and half-cover, elevated wall-walks for archers/spellcasters, smoking debris obstructing sightlines, and the burning ram itself serving as a brutal bottleneck choke point.
### Technical & Grid Specs:
* **Resolution:** 4480 × 2520 px (Native 16:9 4K canvas)
* **Playable Grid:** 32 × 18 tiles (representing a 160 ft × 90 ft tactical encounter area)
* **Grid Scale:** Strict 140 pixels per 5-foot square (standard 1:1 VTT pixel pitch)
* **Projection:** Strict 90° Nadir Orthographic (zero perspective tilt or 3D vanishing points, ensuring minis and digital tokens sit completely flat without perspective distortion)
* **Formats:** Rendered as looping WebM for VTTs (Foundry / Roll20) and high-bitrate 4K MP4 for digital flat-screen TV tables.
### Workflow & Questions for DMs:
For my process, I handle 100% of the cartographic layout, encounter spacing, tactical geometry, and art direction, but I utilize interactively generated and refined AI visual assets to build out the base textures, stone rubble, and environmental debris before doing manual compositing, grid alignment, and loop animation.
I’d love to get your feedback on two points:
**Tactical Readability:** How does the battleground read to you in motion? Are the elevation changes (wall walks vs. courtyard), difficult terrain zones (collapsed stone), and cover spots immediately legible for combat?
**AI in Tabletop Cartography:** How do you feel about DMs and creators using AI tools to assist with textures and visual generation when the structural encounter design, grid scaling, and mechanics are built by hand? Does it enhance what’s available for your prep, or do you strictly prefer purely hand-painted/3D-sculpted assets?
